Well, the general concept of a god is that it would be able to do anything. So, it could appear as if it doesn't exist. So there's really no way to disprove of one. Therefore, there's really no way to close the argument that there is no god with 100% certainty. So yeah, this argument could go on for a while. Side note, many religions stress faith, suggesting that the religion acknowledges how unprovable god could be.

By the way, just because someone is apart of a religion, it doesn't give them infallible logic. They're still people, capable of mistakes.

posted a message on [GCF] Grand Craft Auto

    Grand Craft Auto

    What It Is

Grand Craft Auto [tentative name] is a map where Grand Theft Auto meets StarCraft 2! It will be complete with a campaign, mutiplayer action, and character customization! Aspects from both SC2 (RTS view, click-to-move, etc.) and GTA (skillshot-shooting, cars, etc.) will be present in GCA, as well as unique controls and features. I plan on having a detailed saving system, as well as some features from SIMS (buying houses, etc.)

    What We Need

Please PM Via Mapster if you're interested. TĂș prefieres hablar en Espanol? No problema!

    • Terrain - Designing the City: The city [name undecided] will be set in the same timeframe as where the SC2 campaign left off, and in the same universe. It would be on a backwater world, where food and resources are scarce. The theme would be famine, disorder, and criminal rule (like some areas of Mexico). It would start off small for experimental and developmental purposes, but as map development continues it would grow and change indefinitely until, or even after the official release. Insides of buildings will be much as how it was in SCBW and Diable 3; different locations.
    • Modeling - Weaponless Models: The map would feature many different suits, suits required to be on the streets of such a dangerous city. I currently have weaponless models of most terran infantry units, however the attachment points for their weapons and their animations are mostly incorrect or flawed. All I have for now is a weaponless model of a specter, however it is flawed as well (see video). Minimal work is required of the modeler, simply correcting or detaching the weapons from certain models here and there is all that's required.
    • Data Editor - Detailing: There will be many different vehicles in GCA, and each type should have slightly different stats (turning rate, max speed, acceleration, etc.) Though I'd love to do these myself, I feel that my time would be best spent on the major development of the map [triggers]. This also requires minimal effort and time, however long-term committment would be prefered. Someone that I could contact whenever a new vehicle is added. Other tasks possible covered by data editor: unit movement, enemy AIs, and anything else one can think of to improve the map in a way I haven't thought of through data.
    • Conceptual Artist - Designing Storymode/Side Quests and Lore: I'd also love to spend the time to sit down and think out an entire storymode, however my time would again be better spent on the triggers. So this role would simply supply me with a detailed campaign (I'd also prefer someone who's willing to continually supply details to update the story mode and side quests) that I would trigger in myself.
    • Trigger Editor - Assistant: I intend to do all of the triggers myself, so that I can ensure everything is efficient and sturdy, however if someone would like to assist me in things such as adjusting UI and filling in templates (the more tedious tasks, like making weapons.)

Ideally, members would fill one or more roles listed above. If you feel that you could fill a role not listed above, feel free to contact me about it. Most roles won't require major effort or time; this being a side project is totally fine. Credit and responsibility would depend on effort given and skill level. I'm willing to the maps current development to anyone interested in joining upon request.*

    How We Will Work

The prefered method of contact is Skype. Mic not required. The method of sharing will be decided later, but we will most likely use Dropbox. I will do almost all of the work, though I will not dictate what other members need to do, unless they want me to.

    What I've Done So Far

Currently less than one week into development. Basic controls and foundation almost complete, not including convenience changes. Video:

I don't see how "the more educated you are the less chance you are believing in God," is important. It might be true, but there's no evidence to put the facts either way, meaning we don't know if education causes atheism or if atheists just like to have a higher level of education. It could be explained by the general ways of thinking, for example, having a higher possession of knowledge might make one less likely to be willing to accept there is One infinitely more intelligent. Intelligence generally isn't related to education anyway. Don't take that the wrong way now, I know there's a correlation between the two. And it certainly doesn't mean that if I were to suddenly become an atheist, my intelligence and level of education would go up. But again, its not important.

I don't think there's a simple answer as to whether religion is bad or not. I mean, the right religions and views could easily motivate someone to live a righteous life, rather than being motivated by just doing the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing. I think the only sure conclusion of that topic would be that bad religions and views are bad and unhealthy, and good religions and views are good and healthy. Keep in mind, if there is a God, then it doesn't really matter anyway.

I don't really care for people that call themselves theists but make no effort with it, like most theists. Generally when I think of a theist, I think of one that actually takes their beliefs seriously, so with that little clarification and change, I still stand behind my belief [about beliefs and demeanor].

It was an explaination of why I don't like discussions as unproductive as what you like to lean your arguments into, which is based on my short encounter with you. I was hoping to share my experience thus far with anyone else that would like to discuss anything with you. On-topic, though your demeanor has strengthened my belief that atheists tend to be more violent (or at least more unpleasant.) For example, replying to my post with something as unnecessary as what you just replied with. From my observations so far of this discussion, the atheists have tended to be more demeaning. And if they truely believed they were talking with idiots that refuse to see the truth, they wouldn't be here, or shouldn't be. And yes, I know what my last post said about not replying, I wrote it.

Logic is subjective, it can be different for different people. But that discussion can be overlooked for this.

I don't know what you mean by those statistics. Its entirely possible someone thought, "well, I can commit this crime and never be held accountable for it [assuming I know I won't be caught] because I'm an atheist." That could easily be the same motivation as a religious one. But religious motivation could be both good and bad. That's entirely possible so your statistics can't be cited by common sense.

Anyway, I don't really like this whole "religion has caused war" belief because in reality, it detracts from the fact that people cause wars. And you could easily say religion has possibly prevented more wars than its caused. Also because I don't advocate all religions, just one, and so its kind of irrelevant if they've caused wars. And if there's a God, what does it matter? Wars really don't have anything to do with proving/disproving theism.

"No war ever began without God or gods or spirits being on the aggressor's side." What...?

Your last paragraph is kind of just a bunch of philosophical mumbo-jumbo and terminology, incorrect as well. Really has no place in an argument, other than for clarification purposes, which wasn't your intent (which was really to insult me).

I don't like being involved in debates and discussions with people, frankly, like you. So I won't reply (to you) anymore, take it as a victory if you'd like. Studies show people who are nicer (that is, not trying to make people feel dumb and insulting them) are generally happier on the inside as well. Take that into consideration :)

By the way, about my "I generally see people denouncing theism more than atheism. Which suggests they're more violent than theists" being preposterous... You, purposefully I suspect, missed my point that it was what you were doing.

Again, how is what you're saying any different? In my observations, which are subjective for us all, I generally see people denouncing theism more than atheism. Which suggests they're more violent than theists, and you can see where I'm going with that. But I'm not going to state a fact such as, "Atheists are more violent than theists." Because like I said, its based on MY logic and MY observations which vary from person to person. So how is it different for you? I'm looking for statistics, facts, etc.

I'm trying to make the camera look at a target in the air, but it seems that that camera doesn't care about any Z offset? I was just wondering if there is a way to make the camera recognize it or if there's any work arounds.
