    I actually think some of the top played maps are quite original. Warships for example was quite amazing when I first tried it. Idk if its received as widely as dota was in wc3 though.

    Pretty cool urban environment you've got there!

    I really like the orange/yellow tint you gave to the lighting. It gives more warmth to the shot and it is definitely more dramatic with the shadows and all. However I feel the way the shadow looms over the 3 marines makes the shot feel rather odd? I find myself liking how the "Developed Idea" shot posted before had more clarity to the image because the marines (what i think is the emphasis and what everyone should be looking at first) were better defined in that picture.

    For example, there was stuff like that in WC3 whilst a map in SC2 gets taken down and the user possibly banned for having words like 'dike'. And when a map gets taken down, all its' popularity disappears. So people probably fear doing anything out of the ordinary.

    I don't think warcraft 3 excelled in the modding scene because of 'weird stuff' people try. the popular maps in wc3 as I recall did not get popular because they had swear words and the likes. Blizzard being strict with its map policy should be good if anything, I mean if you're talking about using copyright material for example, we shouldn't have been using them in the first place. And porn maps? (since you mentioned them a couple posts back) I think we all could live without them.

    I think that's another big problem with the arcade. It's awful at fostering the actual development of games. You don't want to publish for public a work in progress. What do people do when they encounter a game-breaking bug? One star. Not enough content to want to keep playing? Three stars. You fix the bugs, and add more content. But the bad rating is a death sentence for filling lobbies. People very rarely go back and reevaluate your game so they can update their review.

    I will continue to work on maps because I enjoy it. But I won't publish a map until it is near finished. My testing pool is limited to whatever AIs I can make and friends, who become less active and eventually disappear because SC2 is a dying game.

    yea the rating system is very unforgiving at the moment. I've seen interesting games rated 4 stars but don't get enough attention since most people only play maps with 5 stars..

    when i made my map i had to figure things out by myself :/ takes awhile but it pays off to learn it yourself and know what the editor can and cant do.

    Its a new feature with the HoTs update. You don't need the expansion to use it fyi.

    I haven't really used it, but there's a Lighting section in the Terrain layer where you can paint Lighting over your terrain. I reckon these mark areas of your map that are affected by a certain lighting.

    This is where its kinda hard to measure. In my recent games, I used the Ultralisk (his name is Wrathion btw) and got slaughtered pretty bad because he was melee. I agree though his short range damage output is quite high, especially when you figure out you can Spine Pierce [R] multiple times when its charged.

    I'll be keeping an eye on him.

    I plan on doing a bi-weekly update cycle (and my next update will be this coming monday). I've gotten into quite alot of games in the NA server and 50% of them have leavers : / I'll be doing something abt it next update.

    I could, but I'd prefer to give a buff to the remaining heroes instead of giving control. Well i've got mixed feelings to be honest.

    Yes I realize Nova is very powerful at the moment, shes the target of my nerfs next update :P Balance is defs top priority.

    Sure speak your mind. I can't make definite promises that I'll follow your suggestions to each letter, but I am very well open to suggestions :)
