ok... now i'm caught up. i completely agree with dragoon... nobody likes dlc, even if it is the right of the corporation to decide on the matter. it's just a simple issue of having to pay money and tear through downloads to get content that could have come directly with the game.... and as for mods, any professional can make a badass mod without anything getting in the way. clearly, consumers cannot sell these mods (due to copyright), but the corporation would find little effect in doing so themselves.
it's just that a lot of people who play sc2 are kids, and online payments are "a bitch". that's the real problem.
1) don't be mean to poor people, as they deserve to live more than you.... since they have to scrape along just to live at all
2) it's cheap, and i honestly only read that last comment out of anything on the entire thread, but it's a bitch to have to run sc2 like itunes... itunes is the reason people pirate music
3) GO AHEAD, call me an idiot and then ragequit (or rather rage-log-off)
i misunderstood "lore"... i assumed you meant crappy game manual/website paragraphs on units, not notations and mentionings throughout books. alright, i'd have to say that zerg, while their appearances are not solely held to them, have some relation to bugs. remember that there's a difference between being based completely on bugs and having "similarities" as the zerg do. honestly, i could care less, but it would be a lot cooler if the zerg were less bugish and more, scary. hearing that comment about "big ass monster dogs" made me think. if zerg were a bit more bulky and a tad less buggy, and the queen was replaced with something else, then they might seem a little bit more badass.
still, this doesn't really affect the game. if they'd been REALLY bug-like in the first game, and then changed into more alien forms (like the hydralisk) in sc2, then people would be mad.
feel free to ignore this, since i find this a really lame debate and don't have much devotion either way in this topic.
EDIT:
@Mozared: Go yeah, awesome comment moz... pretty thorough :D
well, i understand that they are bug related, although roaches don't look completely bugish, but i'm just suggesting it doesn't become a theme...
as for the history of the units, i don't give a damn. i never even played sc2 or brood war lol (that's not to say i'm not interested in the story, as i did read everything over in the manual, but i just don't care about unnecessary details)
i've been going through hell with school and all... i admit that i've had to take a break and may continue to do so for some time. i did a good share with the ads and the poll page (which i accidentally deleted and had to remake) so i'm gonna pass the torch to anyone willing for a while. All we have to do now is coordinate the thing with the publishers (who are currently tied... BLECH) and someone to post a news article on the front page. basically, we throw my ad video into the news article, give a good detail of what we're planning and ask people to spread the word, and we set a release date. we have to settle on this, and i'm the only one really watching this thread.

yeah. btw tainted that portrait is amazing! sorry if that's totally off hand, but it's like the best trip ever just to watch it for five seconds.

hey, congrats on just making a map at all... i TOTALLY gave up on that, but that's just because of school...
good luck, and i would agree that little details make all the difference, whether in gameplay, directing quality, or terrain.
don't be afraid to add that "impossible thing" to the map. i was, and it made my maps suck
