posted a message on Hero Inventory and equipment help

    Hey guys,

Not sure If this should be posted here or triggers. I'm looking for a way to make the Hero Inventory and Equipment more detailed. Are there any tutorials for this? Or anyone know where I can find more info? I am currently using Starcrafts built in inventory system that I have customized for RPG purposes. Standard Hero Equipment menu that shows slots for head, armor, legs etc. 2 Inventory bags that holds about 30 items in each. But I would like to detail them a bit more and say what item type goes in each slot, (near head slot say Head beside it) or maybe even putting an icon into the empty slot to say it in a tooltip and maybe a picture of a helmet? I don't know if its possible without completely abandoning the simple inventory and equipment menus and completely redoing a custom UI dialog box and putting everything in it piece by piece? I tried guys, and I cant make icons show up on empty equipment slots, nor can I find a way to write a description nearby it. I'm stumped on this one and I'm guessing a custom menu must be created to go any further. Let me know any info would be completely appreciated! thanks guys!

Just recently fixed a problem with Loading different heroes. The game required you to click the Mercenary dealer and click your player number to return to select screen. This is no longer a need. All you gotta do is step on the portal and you will be automatically taken back to the hero select screen. Some people got confused by this so I decided to simplify it.

Definently some thoughts I need to wrap my head around a bit. I appreciate your suggestions and I will see if I can come up with a few ways of making it a more noob friendly map. Now that you made me think about it from a new person point of view I'll have to backtrack a tad and focus on ways to explain. :) I apologize for the trouble you had. There are tons of shops and items and also healing items for that matter. Ability wise maybe I need to take out the freedom to pick multiple abilities as you go and hide them all only giving you upgrades to the current ones you have and later attaining new ones as you grow stronger. I will see what I can do bud. I guess months and months of playing FFERPG on WC3 has become a thorn in my side for rpg map creation. That map inspired me greatly and it was a similar feel as to the whole "what the heck do I do now" aspect. xD

    No UI Frames

Recently removed UI Console frames to expand the vision of terrain some more. Special thanks to Zerghunter for support and suggestions. I might do more with customizing it a bit further to give it a better RPG feel.

Thanks mate! :) I look forward to seeing more people in it!. Last two days ive ran a few games from beginning to end with random people. We are already started to end-game grind! I really wanna get a few in a clan so we can run some serious games. The feedback is critical to me so I know high levels with end-game gear wont wreck the game so hard :) I'll be trying to snap a few current pics as I go. Hope to see anyone there!

Special thanks to: OnetwoSC with his masterful tutorial vids that I learned so much, and FFERPG from Warcraft 3 to inspire me to create an RPG in the StarCraft world.

    Hey friends!

I'm here to ask you guys for feedback on my map. I've been working on this project going on 4 years back when it was referred to as Deadlands RPG: Valhalla and still much work to be done. I still have to add a final act(4) to the game and get a few more heroes in. Also I am aware that a lot of ability balancing needs to be done. I am currently adding in Rare items which are only found from drops (enemies, bases). But you can beat the game at the moment if you play thru acts 1-3. All heroes save automatically, theres currently over 360 items in the game and many bosses to defeat. The game consists of 36 missions that you must do to get to the end. Once I finish this map I may press forward and bring in a sequel to raise the level Cap. Also I have a private clan for this game, I would very much like to get a small group of people together and get to level 50(Last level) and try end-game farming for the currency for end-game gear and see how easy/hard it still is with maxed out heroes. Let me know If you wanna join the game and try stuff I'll try to be there as much as possible.

posted a message on Making Slow abilities not as strong against boss units

Ok further investigating with this Snare Multiplier function. I am wondering if this is how it would work.

I have a boss unit and I set his behavior - Snare multiplier to 0.5. Would this make any slow ability only work for 1/2 the effect of the slow ability? If so this is a very good way to handle this. If not can anyone explain if I am not correct with my example. Thanks again guys!

posted a message on Making Slow abilities not as strong against boss units

    Hello again fellow masters!

Lately I've been working on updating my boss units in my map to make them more powerful in combat. I noticed that when a few heroes gang up on a boss unit and they have different slow abilities it tends to stack and make the boss a little too slow for my taste. I already made them immune to stun affects so players cannot stun lock them during a fight. But I do not want to go in that direction to make them immune to slow as well, thus taking away yet another ability towards boss units. I am looking for an easy way to make them maybe resistant to slow affects? Maybe even a different approach like make it not last as long? Any ideas will be helpful to keep my Boss units in my game from being a push over vs multiple heroes. Please respond with any info and it will be greatly appreciated! thanks!

posted a message on Is there a Mapmaker Clan/Group on SC2?

    Hi guys,

Im currently looking for a group/clan on SC2 hopefully that are mapmakers and have such knowledge of the editor. Is there any available on SC2 now? Having people to discuss/talk to and share ideas of editing would be great if it was able to do so instantly. Let me know if there is any? It would be another great way to help each other with questions we might have when we are editing or testing our maps. Thanks!

posted a message on Looking for a better way to display NPC messages

    Hey guys,

In my game so far which is RPG style multi-player, when the NPCs talk it shows up in the player chat we use to communicate. I am looking for an easy alternative to display NPC speech without cluttering up our chat box as it can be annoying when trying to communicate with other players. Is there an easy way to display npc speech in another way or will it take some time using triggers and whatnot. I know theres another way to show speech from npcs in the cinematic mode but doesn't that overlop the game UI and could interrupt gameplay if its not in cinematic mode? I guess the best way is to make a dialog box to put it in? Any info or suggestions would help a lot. Thanks

posted a message on Cursor Targetting problem

Rohime you are the best! That fix solved about 80% of my maps problems! Targeting works again! Cursor isn't bugged out! I hope everyone with that problem finds this. I seen the bugs coming from Boss bars, it only pops up during editor I think but the bars seem to be functioning. Thanks again!

posted a message on Cursor Targetting problem

    Hey guys,

So after the big StarCraft 3.0 PATCH recently hit, I have a terrible bug occur on a game I am currently making. Seems it did something to the targeting system. When you move your hero around by right-clicking on the map it seems to be slightly off. Its like the cursor is out of sync a bit and they actually move a little bit under where you actually click. Is there a way I can reset the cursor and targeting for my map. Its also messing with abilities and such which is pretty game breaking. Your help will be much appreciated! Thanks everyone.
