Game was amazing, so was the midnight release. I had so much fun, love bonding with other Portalians. Can't wait to try out Co-op with a friend when he is on. I really need to read tutorials though! Oh well...they can wait a day...right? :)

posted a message on New Blizzard Mods arriving?

    @LazyCoder: Go

I want it to come, I wouldn't mind looking at it for learning triggers, especially since Blizzard is the creator of the editor and knows its ins and outs.

It sounds like the downloaded map was overwritten by one of your previous maps. Your going to need to re-download the reference.

Sounds awesome! I played Betrayal fully twice, I really enjoyed it. I tried playing it other times but due to leavers, it was kind of hard. Hope this one turns out as good!

Is Campaign Dependencies on? Did you look through the previewer?

This should probably be moved to General Chat since this forum isn't for asking questions.

posted a message on Are iphone game apps good ideas for maps?

It really depends what iPhone app it is. Some will work on a desktop or laptop while others are simply meant to be mobile games. I don't think games like Angry Birds would be fun on a PC when I could be playing Starcraft 2 or some other high end game. When I look at maps I think, what makes Blizzards map, Starjeweled and Left 2 Die so fun(yes I think they are fun)?

When I look at those I see two key points that make them fun in each map. For Left 2 Die its mainly the co-op and survival. Who doesn't like to try and survive as long as you can with a friend when Zombies are banging at your door? With Starjewled I see visual appearances and competition as the key points to it. Visual appearance as in its UI and effects and competitive as the scoreboard.

Take a look at an app and think if its aspects or elements would work as a map. In a sense it really depends what app it is and how it can port into a Computer Game or small mod on SC2. Obviously you can modify the app since you are creating it for SC2 but when doing that you need to be careful you don't mess with gameplay to the point its just lame.

    Just my opinions.

I'm not really sure how, but I know it possible. What might work is creating four different weapons and have them play simultaneously?

You need to turn the campaign dependencies on for starters. Then you just look at the Reapers weapons, C4 should be there along with its actors and effects.

posted a message on The Journey Ahead...

Hey Guys, new modder here, sort of. I'm just going to kind of introduce myself and tell you a bit about my history, so we get to know each other right? At least I'd love to get to know some of you. Having friends talk about geeky things like modding is always fun, right? :)

I used to do a lot of modding in Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and I did some back in some of the old Age of Empires game. I did try to mod a little bit in Warcraft 3 two years ago when I first got the game(totally bummed I never heard of it till early 2010, that was the best game I had ever played) but life quickly shot that down after I tried to add it into my daily schedule. School, chores, family and etc really get in the way of things as I am sure many of you have experienced at least once before.

Umm, some of the games I've played. Heh, there has been a ton! I could list fifteen right off the bat starting with the N64. I guess I will just keep it to some of the more recent games that are probably a bit more familiar. :) I've played Shooters, RTS's, MMO's, anything you name it! I started playing shooters when one of the first Medal of Honor's came out, I think it was called Pacific Assault? After that I hadn't played any for awhile until Battlefield 2142 came out(Love you lots DICE). Then I played Modern Warfare 2 for a year before selling it, as it grew pretty boring unlike the first Modern Warfare I would go to my friends house and play for hours with him. :) Now I sit and play tons of Battlefield Bad Company 2, along with its semi-expansion, Vietnam. When it comes to RTS"s I haven't played a ton of them I would say, I normally play them more then anything else so I rarely put them on a shelf to collect dust. I played Supreme Commander 2 when my brother owned, I don't have it but I loved that game to pieces. I also play tons of Warcraft 3, err, I should say used too now that it almost seems dead, or the 'fun' left when SC2 came out. As main games that I play, SC2 and Minecraft. Starcraft 2 the most though, I enjoy having a friends list where I can just pick someone up and ask if their up for a game of something. :)

Things are really calming down for me now though, I am about finished with High School and almost done writing my book here which will take a huge load off of my time schedule! I'm pretty psyched for it. Now I have Starcraft 2 and have played it since the game came out here and there, but laddering quickly grew boring for me. I really find my passion and hobby in creating things, things that are a bit more rewarding then having a higher league slapped on your info page.

I'd really like to get back into the modding here, but am very unfamiliar with the SC2 Editor, I think all I can do decently is terrain. In basic I would really like to start learning the depths of the Data Editor and even the Trigger Editor. How things work, how they should be put together, etc. I wasn't going to create an account and just start reading tutorials, but there is just so many I have no idea where I should start, and on top of that, I might have questions or I may want to publish a map here(my main motive of creating a account was programming a mod for WoW on Curse.com).

So yeah, if anyone would mind pointing me towards Data and Trigger Editor tutorials that I can start with and slowly learn(preferably text tutorials, I have trouble with video tutorials, its a tad tough to follow along) and make my way up!

    Thanks guys,

    iSaint
