Yeah but the same idea can apply even if you're not doing Third Person. Just run the camera trigger every time the unit uses its "Move" ability, then loop it for a certain time period to ensure the camera is properly aligned when the unit completes its movement.
For the map I did with camera following, I actually set up a trigger that manually set the camera position relative to the unit every time it moved. I found that was more reliable than the built-in camera follow.
To each his own. I had a blast on the demo they had set up last Blizzcon. If the game's anywhere near that much fun at release I'm quite sure I'll be getting my money's worth.
Oh wow, I had no idea it worked that way. I feel like an idiot, but at least now it makes sense why I couldn't get certain animations to persist the way I wanted >_>
Wouldn't it be awesome if there was gear with stats on it? That way, you could customize your character even if you didn't have skill points to allocate. Kind of like WoW.
...oh wait.
I completely agree with Eiviyn's point that removing unnecessary crap is a good thing. It makes the game more approachable and allows you to focus on the stuff that matters. I for one am withholding judgment until I get to try it for myself. You guys can have fun standing on the street corner wearing a cardboard sign about how "the end of gaming is near!" and I'll be off killing zombies or whatever.
It's not "pay-to-win". It's "hey, here's a safe place to buy the items you would've instead bought off a shady chinese website".
Or did you not know that D2 was dominated by real-money item sales on third party websites?
It's just taking something that was already going to be there, accepting it, and integrating it into the game. I think it's a pretty bold move that just might end up working out.
I played WoW for many years and read a great many posts (as well as writing a few of my own) that were EXTREMELY critical of the game. The only time those posts were ever locked/deleted is if they were profanity-laced tirades.
Negative posts that read like they were written by an actual grown-up were welcomed and often professionally responded to by community managers and even designers if they had the time.
The 50-bazillion page RealID uproar wasn't "censored", either. Are you sure we're talking about the same developer here?
It's been my observation that the amount of time people are willing to spend complaining about something is directly proportional to how much of a damn they give about it.
If you honestly felt there were all these better options out there, you'd be off spending your time and money on one of those instead of writing out walls of text here. And yet here you are, because you believe the game/system could be better and strongly wish to see that happen.
So if we both have the exact same goal, why are we still fighting about it?

Fair point :)
I should have time to open up the data editor later tonight, so I'll check this out if you haven't gotten an answer by then.

Any specific reason you MUST use data-only for this? Could you not use a trigger to check this and apply/remove a behavior to validate against?
Of course, it could be possible to do it data-only. I'll check it out later.

If it's anything like the WoW starter edition described here-
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&tag=wowStarterEditionfaq
That suggests they might be removing the trial time limit like they did for WoW. How exactly is that a bad thing?

Check out OneTwo's tutorial for a great example- http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/tutorials/17730-video-3rd-person-rpg/

I'm like 99% sure this is doable. Units with height modification behaviors are able to move/turn/shoot etc, and that's all a "jump" really is.

Subjective and widely-contradicted opinions about the quality of multiplayer aside...
You don't seriously believe that, do you? I'm not even sure what to say...

Dammit Mephs, I specifically said RTS. LoL is not an RTS :P
LoL is an awesome game, though =D
