Hi guys. I'm sure some of you already know about this, but I just found out right now. There are "secret" units in the map editor. Some of them are models that must be attached to a unit. These units include:
Fatty - an old model of the Infestor
"Hurricane" Battlecruiser - a different looking version of the Battlecruiser (no, this isn't the Loki)
Hi onisagi. I'd like to request icons and wireframes for Sarah Kerrigan (ghost) and General Warfield. For Warfield, I am using Underp4ntz' model (chaingun) and for Sarah I'm using Unhunted's model. I was hoping you could make the icons and wireframes by editing Nova and Tychus' icons. Here they are:
On second thought, maybe the armor in my pic is a bit too gray. Something in between yours and the other one would be nice. The color of the body suit in the pic I posted is perfect.
I don't know if it's the lighting in the picture or what... but I think the color of the armor and body suit is better than in your WIP model. The color of your body suit and armor are too light, in my humble opinion. It's possible that your model looks more like the in-game cinematic. But I feel that the model in the pic I posted fits better in the playable game.
In the action, I changed Opening from "Attack" to "Attack, 6". No animation played. Then I changed it to "Attack, 0, 6". Still, nothing happened. When I set Opening to "Stand Work", the correct animation plays. Any ideas?
Nev, it worked. Do you know how I can change the position where the Warbot is summoned? Right now the Warbot is summoned just south of my hero. I'd like to create a bit more space between the hero and the Warbot and possibly move the Warbot's summon location east, west, north or south. Also, how can I get my hero to turn and face the location where he's summoning the Warbot?
Personally, I think the RPG camera is not good. The fog of war is too... uh... heavy. You can't see far with the RPG camera. It's a great idea on paper, but the engine appears to prevent it from working nicely. I think it would work much better in indoor maps. Also, I'd like to recommend that you make the game easy to play, so not too many complex mechanics. Smart casting is an excellent idea! I gotta remember that if I ever make an action RPG. Have you ever thought of making the units attack and move Diablo-style? I.e., you must hold the left click button over the enemy to make the unit attack. Or, you must hold left click to make the unit run in that direction.
I got a lot of respect for you Arcade. You made the Metal Slug map, and that looked really good. But this idea is on the next level. It looks very professional too. Please keep up the great work.
What surprise! I think this is the most interesting Starcraft map I've seen until now (and that includes my own map). I'm looking forward to this.
Quick comments: I like the Medic, Zealot, High Templar and Hydralisk. I think the Dark Templar would make a great future Protoss hero. However, I'd prefer to play as an Ultralisk rather than a Zergling. How about making the Ghost female and using Nova's model? If you keep the ghost as a male, you could make a quest that transforms the Ghost into a Spectre.
I'm not sure but I think Blizzard doesn't allow custom maps to have the word "Starcraft" in them. I could be wrong though.
Hi guys. I'm hoping you can help me with this problem. When I click my hero's Summon Warbot ability, I have to pick the target location where the Warbot will be summoned. However, I want the ability to work so that when I click the ability button, the Warbot is automatically summoned next to the hero. The Target-Location + field of my Create Unit effect is set to Source Point. I've tried different settings, but I haven't gotten it to work.

Hi Onisagi! You were right. Warfield does come with an icon and wireframe. Thanks for the Sarah Kerrigan icon. I'll credit you!

Hi guys. I'm trying to set my hero Tassadar's attack animation to Attack 06. Right now when he attacks, 1 of 4 animations plays.
Now, I opened up Tassadar's actor's Events - Events + field. I found the following:
WeaponStart.*. AttackStart
AnimBracket Start Attack Attack
In the action, I changed Opening from "Attack" to "Attack, 6". No animation played. Then I changed it to "Attack, 0, 6". Still, nothing happened. When I set Opening to "Stand Work", the correct animation plays. Any ideas?

Thanks Nev! I thought I was supposed to change the Create Unit effect's type, but now I see I have to change the ability's type.

What do you mean by "Effect Instant"? I'm not very knowledgeable about the editor.
