I don't understand the complaints about the current popsys.
You have to check the actual results.
In WC3 I could play any map at any time, any of the tens of thousands of maps. Even completely unknown maps that I myself created and no one had ever played before would fill up within a minute or two.
In SC2 I can choose between 10 maps, that's it.
Myself, any everyone I know, has gotten bored of the SC2 custom maps already, while WC3 customs are still fun to play because there are simply so many maps to choose from and new ones pop-up each day.

I completely feel this community is just too immature and undeveloped. And they can't just admit to themselves that their problems with the popularity system are their own fault.
Aren't you a part of the community?
As for the popularity system, it does have a lot of massive weak points. In WC3, I could play any map I wanted at any time and get it full with people. In SC2, I get to choose from 10 maps (20 if at prime time) and that's about it.
My first attempt at any WTE. Mostly i have been trying to make melee mapsbut have not completed one yet. I also have some more sets i did that i will post later
In order to make a balanced map we need some more information.
Will there be ranged only heroes? Will there be melee only heroes? How many if so? Will they have some kind of "gap closing"-ability or jump to reach the ranged targets? Unless that information is provided, it is really easy to make an unbalanced arena since the ranged guys can just stand at a safe cliff where the melee has to run all the way around, all whilst getting shot.

I think I'm going to end up just making maps for private play until the premium system is in place. Does anyone have any information about the premium map system that they talked so much about. It seems that they may have abandoned it considering the fact that I didn't hear anything about it at BlizzCon. Did anyone else hear anything?
In the Q&A they said it won't be released before Heart of the Swarm. So expect it to take at the very least another year.
Look, it was better than 2 of the 3 that won, and 1 of the 3 was not eligible. I'm disappointed that the winners wouldn't have beaten me. If I said otherwise I apologize, there were better maps than mine. However I think I had a good chance for 3 spots.
Since I've not played all the entries (and likely never will), it is not possible for me to judge if you would in fact have ended up in the top 3. However, I will say that I agree upon the fact that Blizzard should have states the conditions for the map in the rules or otherwise have written it down in some instructions. Such as that the map has to be enjoyable and understandable if you are just playing for 15 minutes.
Nah I found out why it didn't win. The unstated rules of having it to be easy to play and easy to learn, then be able to be played in under 15 minutes.
I think you have quite some illusions of grandeur if you think your map was the best out of all the entries and that the only reason it didn't win was because some hidden rule.
Since you still seems to think so. Why would your map be the best amongst all submitted?
So this was my entry, and it didn't win. Why didn't it win? Because it followed blizzards rules, "new, fun, innovative, blah blah blah". What blizzard really wanted was "Simple and Accessible"
Or it could be because your map isn't as fun?
Regardless, I think Sorcerer's Defense should have won, it is, in my opinion, the best TD thus far for SC2. However, there werent that many class maps submitted it seems. No map was even close to the level of some WC3 maps, such as TKoK, Battleships or even Island Defense.
I don't see any reason why popularity isn't based on how much people are playing. As in popularity=amounts of minutes the map has been played in total (in the last 24h).
The default join list should however definitely be based on the maps still waiting for players (with the most recently hosted one first). That way new maps at least has a decent chance.

Same thing here. I have curse premium but I have no idea why. I never enter into competitions and have not even visited a curse site for months.

I've never been too fond of animated avatars. It makes to eyes focus on them instead of on the text =\

Lots of posts is easy. Try to get an early join date instead :)

Looks extremely promising. I love the 2d games in SC2.

Is it minutes per player or did they fail yet again and make it only minutes per map? Which would promote few player maps.

I fail to see how this is a workspace for a project.

The best one thus far imo.
