posted a message on Looking to form a team

    Hey there,

so recently I got a pretty neat idea for a new map. To give it a direction I would call it a round-based-strategic-game but its nothing you've probably seen before in a SC2/WC3 Map.
However I dont got enough time to do this on my own, plus the only part of the editor I realy feel confident with is the terraining part. Probably I could do some Triggering too, as I'm a student of computer science and I guess that I can learn it pretty fast.

To cut a long story short - im looking for:

Triggereditor - probably the biggest job.
Dataeditor - I dont think that theres is much to be done but I'm not pretty sure about the mightyness of the Dataeditor so maybe there are some things that could be done there I dont count in yet.
CustomGUI Editor - I guess that pretty everything can be down with Dialogs so you dont need photoshopskills or something like that.

Modler - this is optional, but it would be much cooler to have perfect fitting models.

So if your intrestet, got some time to spend and dont give up after a few hours of work than your welcome to send me a PM or add me on one of the following IM's so I can provide you with further informations.

    ICQ: 249661901
    MSN: [email protected]

As soon as we start working I'll hand everyone in the team a specification with all the detailed informations.

    Greetings
    norathem

Aparently you haven't read the editor Text that appears every time when you start the WC3 Editor. Every map made by it is owned by Blizzard and so is its name.

Why do you want Avernus as Tilset? Its a Spaceplatform. In my opinion it would be much better to take some sort of Wastland - like Mar Sara for example.

And another Question: Should the area be mirrored in some way? Thats always a difficult question, as it can affact the gameplay pretty heavy but if you make it too symetric it will loose its natural look.

Bringing this old topic back to live :D

Maybe its not new for you guys but I was always in search for an wooden fence. Even if you arn't in a medival setting you still could be really in use of one if you want to do some agriculture enviroment on Agria or stuff - were a metal fence with electricity on top just dont match.

So, I finaly found some doodates to creat on (used agrigrounddetails variation 2 and 4)

    Hey there folks,

I got some free time currently and I would like to do some terraining work. So if someone needs help with his map - just write me a PM and we see what could be done.

If you want to see some work from me just take a look into my profil for 2 of my first attempts in doing terrain (so they are a bit old) or just take a look at my current entry on this weeks WTE:

posted a message on Stargate Galaxies - Recruiting! - UPDATES!

Pretty sad that it won't be able to play it in multiplayer as the aspect of a team is a hugh point in SG.

Heres an idea I got to still make it possible: If you cant use map changes in Battle.net than the players have to do this map changes by themself. So you release all that planets on theire own and the player choose them that way - yeah sadly that would mean that you have to give up the cool "log-in-sequenzes" at the HQ. Atleast you could try to implement that log in at the start of every map - not with the full HQ just with the "log-in-screen" to make sure that the player already got the right shifrons for that planet.

As my previous poster said - I really like your creativ doodade use. The only negativ thing I have to say about it is that i miss the sadness.

posted a message on Making SC2mapster contests more casual friendly?

If you like to terrain you could participate in the WTE - maybe its not a "real" contest but I guess that you can handle it like one. Probably its not the time consuming as making a whole map and there are some folks that throw in a very good entrie with just an hour of work.

naa I think birds are too positiv xD and I wanted the enviroment to be dead so the only "living" in the picture is the colonist.

Also I really like the Mar Sara Skybox as its a perfect match for this kind of theme. And normaly the top issnt that bar cause you see the wind and some leafes flew around.

But anyways - im glad you like it and thanks for your comment :D

I love the idea that you thought of, the only critisism i would say, well not really critisism more a suggestion, is lower the hill where the temple lies, and add something to the top of the temple, in most maya'n temples you see alters or sacrificial pits at the top of them, i think that would really make the temple look amazing.

I also think adding some atmosphere, with fog effects or weather effects would be good aswell as some lighting.

    But overall great idea :D

Thanks for the tipps. So, heres my improved version. I figured that I suck when it comes to the creation of weather effects (will learn it soon though) however I changed the angle of the camera and created an altar on the top. Also I changed the lightning so it looks like a sunset.

    Hope you like it.
