    Some time ago I wanted to implement the interceptor movement scheme on other units, the fact is that you did this by modifying the weapon the unit has and change it into a "Strafe" weapon instead of a "legacy" weapon.

    So I changed the wraith gemini missiles to strafe, got some things messed up, many effects got unlinked from the Wraith unit, the weapon had no "Loiter radius" (radius of strafing)

    So I proceeded to change everything. Now when I put some wraiths on the battlefield against other wraiths, they just attack normally like nothing has been changed.

    I proceed to change the period of the weapon to 3 instead of 1.5 of the original gemini missiles period, but nothing changes when I press on test document.

    I wonder, is this a system problem, which makes data modifications not appear on the terran or is this a problem of linking? perhaps the weapon is no longer linked to the unit and any changes made are destimated by the editor.

    Another thing to note is that gemini missiles had 0 arc, which is strange...

    any help is much appreciated

    What is it? I don't seem to be able to find what is what makes the interceptors move around strafing at the target and shooting it.

    I looked through models, unit, actor, behavior, events+ but I don't seem to find the data type that will let me implement this movement scheme on other units such as the wraith.

    I've tried the other way round which is implementing the wraith model, weapons, abilities, protrait, Ui icons and all onto the interceptor actor and unit but seems like it's a lot more work than just finding out the movement scheme and implementing it on other units.

    any help is greatly appreciated.

    Is there a tutorial for this?

    I believe if there is a tutorial that teaches you how to create a unit from just righclick "Add Object" on the unit data type window and going through every single field, actor, models, sounds, effects, upgrades, weapons... might be a quite good exercise to learn to use the data editor and its functions.

    However, this might also be a bit too extensive and I see ppl just saying "duplicate and go", whilst duplicating is a good solution, it gives a lot of problems and helps nothing in learning...

    Awaiting a response.

    I don't understand, let's say I want to make 2 different units based on interceptors, so I duplicate the interceptor unit twice and change everything I need on each of the duplications... is this mass unnecesary duplication? if it's not, when is it mass pointless duping?

    1 solved, Unit - Editor Flags - No Placement (uncheck)

    looking forward for the next 2 problems...

    EDIT: problem 2 solved as consequence of problem 1 solved.

    Looking forward to try this with different models, such as the viking or the wraith...

    you can create a mod, which only allows you to change the data and then save as .SC2Mod file, then when creating a new map, put dependency custom and add this .SC2Mod file onto it...

    How to..?

    1. Make Interceptors a placeable unit on terrain?
    2. Make them behave as independent units, but with the same attack animation?
    3. Thus making them able to change models and make, e.g., wraiths have the same attack animation?

    or is it model tied and thus impossible to modify with the editor?

    I can't help you with this but I can tell you that many many maps on battle.net has this function and it works quite well (desert strike, runling run) so I guess it's not too hard to do.
