Xelaran, You can import the model into 3ds max (or blender), apply the new texture, then export it.

If you want, ill do it for you. send the files to [email protected]

Prlugo, what version of the exporter are you using?

My problem was i was using version 1.8 (which i cant find anymore...) i reverted it back to 1.7, and it started working (after fiddling with it a bit)

Also, is there a way to export an animation via biped? i was able to attach it via skin (not physique), but i get an error when trying to export it (Unknown Property: "scale" in [a very long line defining the object]).

posted a message on 3D Modelers Review this thread

    Hello everyone

I have been using 3ds max for almost 8 years now, but never took any classes (so my methods are bizarre and unorthodox). im also not that amazing with modeling, but i know my way around when i really want to.

Here is my first real sc2 model. Selendis on zealot legs. http://a.imageshack.us/img834/2001/selendis.jpg

Working on exporting animations. ill post her and a tutorial on exporting when i get it right.

PM me on here if you have any questions (or if you can help me export)

also, if you can be on more that one team at a time, send me an invite to the team 3d!

posted a message on Exporting animations

    Hello everyone

Im using the .m3 exporter, and so far its working great, except when exporting animations.

I have the sequencer all set up with different animations, and the little box is checked on the exporter tab when i export. my bindpose and basepose are both set to 0 also.

Are there any special things i need to do? or do you think its just a hiccup in the exporter?

posted a message on What is needed to create a SC2 unit model?

Aha! time to share what i have learned over 3 days!

    http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/m3-export-plugin-3ds-max/

There is a .m3 importer AND exporter!!! Just follow the instructions, and it works great.

Just be weary, the first few imports/exports took a while (up to 10 min), so don't freak out if 3ds max appears to freeze. Just go make a sandwich or something.

Because it looks like there is no tutorial on it yet, I will start making one.

    Good day to you all

    @tFighterPilot: Go

The problem with zooming in on that scale is that you cant get close enough for minor details. When you try to get close to see the face or such, the camera clips out the model. 3ds max fail

And when you select everything and scale it up using the scaling tool, 2 things happen. 1. You get very large "Identifiers" (the white cube around the bones). while this doesn't impair modeling, its really annoying. 2. You cant really move any bones. When you try to move them, they only move ever so slightly. this makes animating impossible.

And @ xcorbo Thanks for the scale, now I have a reference!

    Hello everyone

I had a question. When i import the models into 3ds max, they are really really really tiny. Are you guys just that awesome that you edit them that small, or do you scale them up, then scale them back down? if you do scale them, how do you scale it properly?
