Nice ;) I love FF 7 the most of the series. I was wondering though what kind of WASD or other movement you are using (and how it works). Is it lag/delay free? I know that you play singleplayer but if you test it multiplayer?
Any kind of WASD or button pressing mechanics will have a slight lag/delay online unfortunately, although Blizzard claimed that they will be fixing this in the future.
Hey everyone! Just gonna answer some general stuff.
Yes unfortunately, since the very beginning of this project I knew about the music copyright(by Square Enix now, I believe). So if(and that's a very big IF, considering how much time I need to finish this completely) I do manage to upload this map, it will most likely be using a whole bunch of different sounds and (un)copyrighted material.
The good ol' pause/loading lagginess from the Playstation 1 era was intended :)
If I ever do release this map, for sure I'll be taking it out. I just thought it fit quite nicely for a map that is intended to resemble the FFVII series(and others).
Regarding the UI, yeah, it definitely needs a lot more tweaking. This was only a preview, and just to give out an example, in the main menu I only added about four options, but in the final game I want to have much more than that, including status pages for each character, and etc. By that time, I think I can manage to polish the UI up significantly.
Oh and lastly.. the combat video is going to be postponed a bit, since the new patch just hit me now and has changed a few things.
This is a little trigger heavy map, and a project that's been on and off for a looong while due to school/work.
It's my little tribute to the games I grew up playing when I was little(the Playstation 1 games).
But please let me know what you guys think!
UPDATE : video showcasing the combat, recorded pre-patch.
what do you mean... how do i find those. Kueken i tried to take all my actor our of actor groups but it still gave me the error... i selected all my doodad and ungrounded them. still got error
The cause of the warning for me was a specific unit, so you want to find out which unit is causing the problem.
Turn off triggers that create units or remove units that spawn initially and see if the message goes away.
In my case, I had a trigger that created a unit which caused the messages to pop up. It was easy for me to pinpoint since the message popped up every time the actor for the unit did the "Attack" animation.
I noticed after the patch that sometimes when my units are ordered to attack a target, the units walk up to them and attack from behind, when during pre-1.3 they would always attack from the front. Any thoughts on what caused this change and how I can fix it?
Just finished getting it stable at 3.6. I managed to tweak the voltage to keep the temperature well under the 72.7 C maximum. Thanks for inspiring me to do this!
While we are on the topic, what would be a good, 'cheap' PC that could run SC2 on Ultra? I'm also looking for it to be pretty fast because I really want to get into the programming Computer Animation business and would need a more specialized PC than a 2004 piece of crap. :]
It all depends on the definition of 'cheap', I would start by listing your budget and go from there. If it's too cheap, Ultra on SC2 might not be a great option, since the Ultra mode utilizes a lot more GPU power, and good video cards can be pretty expensive. To give you an idea of my SC2 performance, I run on an hybrid of High/Medium because my video card is fairly old(Radeon HD4870), so I avoid going to Ultra since I don't really enjoy big FPS dips on SC2.

For those who wanted to see the combat,
This is recorded pre-patch and it isn't as refined compared to what I have now, I still need to fix the map from new patch changes. :(

Yes I have :) I'll be sure to post a video of the battle system when I have time, as well as the world map and the first dungeon.

Great game, although single player is kind of short and co-op is surprisingly limited, but nevertheless the quality you get is top-notch.

Best first car is an old, trashy car!

Definitely look at your actor events/messages, I had the same problem and fixed it after cleaning them up.

I think the best bang for buck right now for a video card is the ATi Radeon 2GB HD6950, since they can be BIOS flashed to the 6970 quite easily.
