    @SuPa_Link: Go

    I've seen a few maps come up recently and part of what helped is getting testers to test the map and leave feedback. The creators quickly adjusted the map according to suggestions while maintaining their idea of what the game should be which allowed for more needed testing. Just these tests caused the maps to move up very quickly and become noticed. It seems that most of the popular maps are actively developed which helps keep interest in the map. There is a thread with a bunch of tester info if you are open to suggestions on improving your map or fixing balance issues using testers will increase the popularity to the point where it might get noticed by others. I say good luck and if your map is fun people will probably keep playing it :D

    posted a message on Vexal Tower Defense; Popularity System

    I really don't think there is a problem with inventing a new genre. I've seen some maps climb the popularity ladder fairly quickly and its mostly because they get enough testers to make the games played go up. Once a new map gets up high enough on the list many more people will check it out and if they lose fairly quickly because they didn't quite understand it they often rejoin causing games played to go up even faster. I think inventing a new genre is part of what map making is. There wouldn't be any tower defense maps if turret defense and cannon defense were never made in the early years of Starcraft. If the new genre is fun people will play it. I've seen many unplayable RPGs very high on the list just because people want to try new maps. Most RPG maps are by no means easy to start playing so I don't think you really need to make maps simple or keep in a genre. Just make good fun maps and get a bunch of testers.

    Just played through the entire map. Very fun.

    Things I found (just opinions)

    I played 3.7 and there was no victory trigger (or defeat) after the final wave 40. Are we playing against the other side be least retribution %, most towers, or just if you can get to the end? The other team kept saying we win because we have the most towers but they were leaking more. No one won because there was no victory so we had to leave.

    Final towers are pretty much impossible to build and keep a decent maze. I think this is because the money per kill is never increased so your just relying on the end of round minerals to upgrade. 1 mineral for every kill and 5 for every boss no matter how hard they are seems a little weird to me.

    Only way to get past air waves without leaking too much is to build Terran units. The other two races only hit the air with the 3rd tower and if you are trying to upgrade to it you've already passed a few air rounds. The protos AA tower was pretty awesome, I had one with my terran stack but I still felt that I wasn't able to fully utilize the other races because I had to focus on AA.

    The final wave was 1000x easier then the air wave before it, it was kind of a joke. The start seems to be focus on your maze then once you have a decent one focus on AA because the terran towers attack both air and ground.

    After wave 40 I kinda wanted something more. It felt like it ended fairly quickly. Maybe for a final boss wave have it go through everyone's maze (only players in the game) on a side. Like start in top left and go through it, then warp to top right and go through it straight through to the end. Might be a good change from the self spawns.

    I do find it funny that some Europeans use interesting instead of interested. I have some Bulgarian and Moldovan friends that do the same thing. Cracks me up :D

    If I was into models I would jump on that. I think its a great price for how much work was done to make it. Too bad I can't paint to save my life, it would just ruin the whole piece if I touched it

    I actually played it 3 times LOL First time I ran through and beat it as soon as I was big enough. Second time I wanted to see if you could die ( yes you can pretty easily if you stop rolling your fat ass around ). Third try I wanted to see how big I could get before finishing it and after 2500 eaten you are pretty darn big :D

    I'm glad to hear its moving up! It is good to know that its possible to move up in the popularity system. I am always seeing people complain that it is impossible. I do not like the system though because it is impossible to play a non "popular" game with anyone other then your friends

    it is US (NA) to upload it to EU you need someones account or need someone else to upload it
