could you make the caster the target of the spell itself, but make the area damage higher? just have AoE feedback that targets self and has life instead of energy?
do you mean, how do you make terran buildings have the big blue sphere around them when shields are being damaged? that would have something to do with the actors of the shields that you are using. not sure if shields are automatically using toss shield actors though. if you mean how do you make the damage hit the shields first, that is automatic.

well if you carried over the protoss shield actors and junk they have it already. just get all that crap into your unit and its all set.
