So are they trying to implement that whole thing where you can "sell" maps like apps on an App Store?

Ahh, that's too bad :( I hate seeing things go to waste. I guess I'll give it a try just to see what it's all about. I hope I have time between work, wife and two kids lol

Hey guys, I got an invite for this as well, but I don't see myself making use of it as I haven't touched SC2 in a long time.

So I will send the invite to the first person to email me at: EDIT REMOVED

Please put the follow in the subject line: "SC2Mapster Invite Request" Also, please include your SC2Mapster username in the body of the email.

I was also invited to the Diablo 3 beta, so maybe this invite has to do with the same "opt in" that I did for the D3 beta?

EDIT - Invite sent to Zelda who was the first to respond. Must have been like 5 seconds after I posted O_o

I'm no good with the data editor, but if I were doing this with triggers, I would use "environment" to create the effect at the point that is the position of the unit (with an offset if required). Then this effect would be completely separate from the unit, yet would appear with it.

If you send me the map, I can host it for you on US. That is if you trust me to do so :) Of course, I have no reason to try and "steal" your map or anything. But yes, I can host it for you (I have space). I'll even try boosting it then to bring it up in popularity.

A lot of feedback he got (including from myself), is that excessive clicking is like giving your finger/wrist a workout. It doesn't make the game fun. So instead he opted to using the space bar as the means for attacking, and that proved to be easier to use. Also, he went into the direction of trying to prevent just mindless "attack spamming", and added in the whole "energy bar" thing so that staggering your attacks is actually MORE effective than just spamming (since the energy bar builds up and provides more power for attacks).

I think his changes were great, since the made the map a lot easier to play and no just dumb clicking everywhere (like a certain Photon Command map).

Ahh, my friend Garrett made that map (Headquarters). It's a fun map, but too bad it never got popular :(

Thanks for the info. Here are some more things I found:

    1) I understand that you put units into the Frat House, but aside from the SCV, are there any other units to put inside? I don't think you can get more SCVs.

    2) Some of your abilities require you to target your runner. Like the fast regeneration. I find it doubtful that people are going to be casting the buff spells on any other player or their towers or anything, so I think those should be made auto-target for the runner like the way Heal 500 HP is.

    3) I also find healing towers to be kinda useless and inefficient. I think a better solution would be to remove healing towers, and just allow your normal towers to be able to automatically attack your runner. Except that when your towers attack your runner, they HEAL for whatever amount of damage they would do. Heal either HP or shields.

    4) Action Figure wave can't be targeted.

    5) You should include some way to change the direction of movement from counter-clockwise to clockwise and vice versa. I was in a game where it was just me and one guy left. He was right below me, and once he managed to be able to kill my runner, then it was all over for me since I would have no chance to get through his defense. And since he's right below me, my runner would reach him first when he would respawn. Meanwhile, if I killed his runner, it would have to go all the way around before it reached me again.

    6) When a runner respawns, they should respawn with full energy. Kinda stupid to have my runner respawn with 100 energy when he can't even use his most valuable ability.

    7) What exactly does the 50 energy droid do? I use him to mine the mineral patch, but he doesn't seem to get anything.

8 ) Btw, you still haven't quite answered what the difference between using steroid upgrades and normal upgrades is. As far as I can tell, I only see the difference being cost....but why pay more for steroid upgrades?

    9) The observer laser tower is stackable. Not sure if you did this on purpose or not.

I've been playing your baneling marathon td map, and I love it. But the one big problem it has is the voting system at the start of the map. If even one player doesn't vote, or leaves, then everyone is stuck and has to quit the map. You should include a "Vote Timer" that shows how much time is left to cast your vote, and once the timer is over, anyone who hasn't voted is disregarded. Maybe a 30 sec vote timer.

What is the difference between training with and without steroids?

How does the Frat House bunker thing work?

What is that area in the bottom right corner with the Stone Golem? I sent a droid there to check things out but nothing happened. Void Rays are OP against runners. Set like 4 void rays and a fully upgraded runner dies within seconds.

you should also remove the "Press any key to continue" from the loading screen.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Yes, this map looks very neat, and I can tell you've put a lot into it. My opinion reflects that of MaskedPoptart....too many dialogs is really hazardous to use. Especially since dialog response time on Bnet tends to be a bit slow. The result is having to click through multiple dialogs is annoying at best.

I remember I played a Golems map in which you would pick your spawn unit, golems, special units, and everything else via dialogs. I stopped playing the map for that reason alone.

The dialogs were fast in your video, probably cause you were doing single player, but on Bnet, much like WASD controls, there is a delay and lag that is noticeable.

    @LordAbyss: Go

Lol i think mines only winning because it has a giant screenshot. Either way pretty hilarious cause I forgot about this contest... started so long ago!

I agree...that's why I voted for it in a sense...cause I could see the quality of it better than the others. Can we please get bigger screenshots of the other maps too? I feel this is unfair to the others.

posted a message on Starcraft in the Olympic Games!

Yeah, if they include StarCraft 2....then it begs the question...upon what basis does a game qualify to be an Olympic (e-)sport? Obviously you'll have ever developer trying to jump on the bandwagon, and there will be a PR nightmare ahead for years to come. You don't see companies trying to create new "Olympic sports", so it's not really a commercial thing from that perspective (just from the sponsorships and equipment, gear, etc).

Well, I found Mephs' reply to be good for a few chuckles, but yeah, it's not something I would have actually sent them.

You know Mephs, with Blizzard being so apologetic, you could have arranged for a sort of a compromise. Showed them all of the evidence of you having had come up with the name before their announcement, and then asked them "I will change the name to suit your plans, but could you please help me out by putting my map as one of the featured maps in the next round of featured maps please?"

Or something along those lines. Sending them an email like that has basically ruined any chances you ever had of being featured...and you wasted a golden opportunity to make a bargain with them...or at least ask for a compromise. After all, the whole point of the name change was to gain popularity. You even asked for 1000 popularity...so why not just request to be featured and clean up the whole issue?
