So what if SC2 isn't as competitive as BW? It still is pretty damn competitive. I can't stand kids who love to try and make the game more balanced or competitive. You can do so much to make a game more competitive or complicated but who cares? This map (Starbow) may be pretty freaking sweet and resemble BW but I don't want to keep playing the same style of BW for years and years on end. I love the new mechanics of SC2 because it forces everyone to relearn strategy with new units and abilities and that in itself is complicated and forces a competitive aspect. There is of course much more to it.

If you don't like the way the new game plays fine, play this "Starbow" (The fuck kind of name?) but Blizzard sure as hell isn't going in any direction such as this. Big companies like Blizzard may understand that past games have succeeded because of specific elements they implemented but they'll be damned if they create a new game which utilizes the exact same elements of an older one.

Also this map is pretty imbalanced as is. I mean it's not horrible but it's light years from Blizzard's design.

As your thread title suggests, this imbalance is the way the game should be made?..... ...The important thing is you tried, son.

I take one look at this post, and I realize you haven't played the mod. You call it imbalanced, why? Did you lose to a diamond player and cry because the race you were playing just happened to be underpowered, and the race you were playing against overpowered? The logic you are using is that SC2 doesn't need to be as competitive as BW because its new. Of course, this just means its going to be no more fun faster. Currently the SC2 metagame revolves around grabbing bases, defending them heavily, and building supermassive armies. Players then proceed to throw these armies at each other, and whoever has the biggest army at the end wins. What Starbow does then, is it reduces workers per base and makes territorial control more important, suddenly, 200/200 isn't easy to get anymore, instead, its a long road to a maxed army where a lot can happen in between, this is exciting to watch and play, and anyone who says it isn't doesn't completely understand the mod. And another thing, if you looked at the pictures and cried OP, newflash: ideas aren't op, numbers are. BW was balanced because the numbers were so close together and the design was so good and the mechanics gave you full control of each and every one of your units, granted you had the skill to utilise it. Starbow makes it easier to utilise this full control, but so too does it give you more options. Your whole point revolves around it being not as good as SC2, perhaps it isn't as good as SC2, but the many who play it all agree; its way more fun.

I don't agree that these small changes are the root of the problem, I think that people are always going to whine and complain because a lot of the people who play Starcraft are really stupid. Honestly, everyone is playing Starcraft for instant gratification, Blizzard made a really big and awesome change but they forgot to idiotproof it, which means that most of the community is stupid and won't try new things. Another big problem is what I call the Big Hyprocicy, there are idiots out there who hate the system and still won't spend 10 minutes of their time to wait for games. I think that if people start seeing that waiting is helpful, then they will wait longer. When the arcade was released, people were waiting a long time for games, the wait times are very similar to WC3 and honestly if your map is niche and no one wants to play then don't expect popularity, expect a niche community.

I think we can all agree that Starcraft 2 is not as competitive as BW. It is poorly designed and lacks many strategic mechanics of its predecessor. I also think we can all agree that it is ridiculous to QQ about SC2, the game won't change until an expac, let's hope blizzard understands the importance of an engine redesign during the HotS beta. One player, Gossen from EU realized that there was an incredibly powerful engine at his disposal and instead of QQing made a map that is currently becoming more popular every day.

You can find his thread here It has nice little pictures so you can see what has changed and what is still the same, though I assure you, EVERYTHING is redesigned and made better, nothing is as bad as in SC2.

I hope you like what you see!

EDIT: The link isn't working for some reason and I can't go advanced mod cause of curse.

Don't listen to this fool, he doesn't like the genre, and it was very nasty of him to post this so subjectively.

I LOVED classic LOAP, it was so freeworld, and just magic in general. Thanks for remaking!

posted a message on OneTwo, You have Dissed me Bigtime

So I uploaded A Song of Ice and Fire, undoubtedly one of the most intricate maps on battle net which appeals to a niche, to the arcade beta. OneTwo apparantly thinks its funny to trololol-rate people's hard worked-on projects as one-stars because "They are raping the series", apparantly somebody's a little snobby. I don't really like drama generally, but it pisses me off that a MAPSTER who holds himself in GOOD standing with me would comment on the map as "raping the genre", that pisses me off. Imagine this scenario: OneTwo joins A Song of Ice and Fire expecting I-dont-know-what, he doesn't find and rages at the start and then rates it 1-star and says it is "raping the genre". Is that a fair rating? That just pisses me off OneTwo, I don't know what you were thinking...

Sorry Blizzard, I know you we all complained about popularity system in sc2 wol. Well after playing Sc2 Arcade Beta 1.5 for 3 days i realized that it was never a blizzards fault for the failed popularity system. Now we have the perfect system where you can rate map and also creates open games lobby but the human factor is just relentless. The most played maps are still the worst maps. The only good map that made it out of the mud is Bomberbot which is great. I tried to play some more complex maps with the open lobby but when the other players realized that for that map they actualy have to use their brains they just left after 10 sec. I dont know what they expected in the first 10 sec of the game???? The worst i ever played was of course the most played: War of the Helms Deep. The interesting thing is that the rating of the map is very low but for some reason the map is constantly played. So i want to apologize to blizzard for all the people that were flaming these couple of years. So my dear mate mapmaker, if you want your map played make the most stupid map in the world and dont blame blizzard for peoples stupidity. And btw GZ Blizzard the system is perfect.(this was not ironic)

I also realized something my friend, reading this post, I realized that we're all subjective dumfucks. You see, I like Helms Deep, however you don't. Why is that? It doesn't matter. I like Helms Deep cause its fun, and its like BW, I like simplicity and skill, these are two things that make a map fun for me. And yet they are different for you. I must say, im feeling pretty good about this new lobby system. It's not as oppressive as popularity, you know? It even has visible options for the "newest" maps! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to troll with subjection, but objection is nice too, it makes more sense yknow?

posted a message on Will Pay Upwards 30 dollars for LoTR Map Creation

Apparantly LoTR maps are "EZ-To-Make" and void of the strategic possibilities they claim to hold; I would like to refute this but I am not sure how. In the ever tumultuous world we live in, they say "if you cant beat em join em", and I truly believe this holds true here. Wanna make some easy cash then? I am paying upwards 30 dollars for a LoTR map to be made, you can design how you like, but there are a few key features I would like to go to the process of explaining first, however.

Castles: Spawns are created on a timer. To control the speed of the game at various incremements, castles are used. Castles do not have to be physical however, and can be implemented in the form of any gameplay type. For example, I can upgrade my spawn. This could just as easily be called "castling"

Heroes: Don't gip me here, I want unique and interesting heroes, they can be based off SC2 units, BW style, or they can be based off of some imagination world gone wrong. Regardless, I would like heroes that make the game strategic and interesting. The fun of LoTR is microing heroes, remember that.

Transports: An interesting idea in LoTR is the dropping of heroes on bases to kill them quickly. I would like this implemented in some way. Dropships are the classical way of doing it, but I don't really care if the hero blinked into the base to kill it, as long as there are no armies in the kill it is considered an op, and this is what i want to see.

Other than these three things the parameters are null, whether you wanna make it neo-classical, neo-retroprogressive, or legacy style, I leave that to you. Please post here and contact me at [email protected]. Also contact me in-game UloseTheGame.140

We will negotiate price upon contact.

A Song of Ice and Fire is a diplomacy map that took battle net by storm! Sadly, it was rejected by the community-at-large. If you are into LoTRish, Diplomacy, or Spawn Based maps, this is the map for you. I will warn you however, that the map has an incredibly steep learning curve, and it will take 2 or 3 games to understand what you are doing. It hovers around page 3, but it ALWAYS fills! Join the Song of Ice and Fire, created by Jtaylor and Wraith! Good luck!!

posted a message on To you guys that don't understand SOPA
    Quote from Taintedwisp: Go

I think I know the problem with america...

Our president is a draft dodger Our senators are all rich, some born rich. Our congressmen are all over 45 yrs old

    Now let me explain

The president is a coward... He let a marine get executed, and is letting them keep a 100 million $ drone. and is not saying anything as they insult him by giving him a toy replica....

The rich Wish to be richer... that is their only dream, therefore they are corrupt.

In the past 30 years technology has boom 1000x what it used to be.

Therefore these people we have running our governemnt are too out of touch to even have a clue whats what at this point, we need to have people who are

Courageous, grew up on a fixed income, and Knows current technology well.

What does that have to do with SOPA? I don't like people who derail threads to get their views across. I'm not commenting on your views, personally, its not my problem, but don't derail a thread based on Anti-Piracy because you feel it is necessary to get your views across. If you really wanna know, I don't know who to believe anymore. Every news station, every idea, all stink of lies. I'm struggling just to find the truth of who's better, but it doesn't matter. The general public is being fed LIES on both sides, and I have no idea what any of it means. Each side ways negative values of the other without seeing the similarities. It's always been like that, but now I see that the cold ugly truth comes out in full breadth when the going gets tough. Everywhere I look, I see passion, misdirected; arrogant, passion. Is there really a disconnect? Is our president really a coward? Who are these courageous politicians who grew up on a fixed income and who herald the technology of the times? I don't know any, I think if SOPA is passed there will be no return to the old way, presidents never follow through on their word, because of checks and balances, or because they lie. I honestly don't want to think about it, but these are my thoughts.
