Hey guys i have been messing around how to get height maps into the SC2 Editor and well i found a little workaround. Here is a test image that i did of a crater. When i get a chance i will make a tutorial on how to do this.
Also just a quick tip for people who do this. Make sure you have the map you are working on (your map) in the non-sandboxie.
If you have it in the sandboxie one you will not be able to access your save file.
hey are you looking for like a foot bridge or a wooden car bridge? if you want go on Google do a search and try and find a bridge you like
I will try and throw one together for you.
If you go into the data editor and then find the model you imported you will find Scale Maximum and Scale Minimum. if you change these values it will make the model bigger or smaller
Default values are x = 1
y = 1
z = 1
eg. changing all values to .5 would make the it 1/2 the size of the original model
If i can add something to this tutorial. If you want to use the same water texture for both levels you could always just go to the Water Data type and make a duplicate of the water you are using. This will let you have the same water texture at different heights.
I was digging around and it looks like they do all the scene setup,animations and camera movement in 3ds max or maya and then they export and load it in the previewer, or something like that because i have been looking at the .sc2scene files and the camera that they use is a .m3. The only problem is i tried to load Camera_terran01.m3 into 3ds max and it errors out

you could also use the Warcraft 3 Model Viewer to export the MDX and it also converts the textures for you.

@trentonx
Step 1 - Open the Material Editor
Step 2 - Click the Material you are working on.
Step 3 - Click the Standard Button
Step 4 - The Material/Map Browser should Pop up. In there you will find the material type Starcraft 2. Pick that.
Step 5 - click on the map type you are working on. eg.. Diffuse Map, Spec Map, Normal Map
Step 6 - The Material/Map Browser will pop up again. Pick the Starcraft 2 Bitmap
Step 7 - Under map path click on the None Box and search for your texture.
If you need more help i can make a video tutorial on doing this.
*edit* I guess you don't need this anymore.

Hello everyone. I just figured out a work around to have 2 starcraft 2 editors open at the same time.
Step 1 - Download a program called Sandboxie and install it. www.sandboxie.com
Step 2 - Right Click the Starcraft 2 Editor .exe and click on " Run Sandboxed"
This will help you learn thing in the editor so you don't have to go from map to map.
