Hi all, today i will teach you how to make doodads from wow.
This is a simple tutorial if you have problems, ask me.
Step 1: Download
First of all download our best friend the WMV at WOW MODEL VIEWER.
Download the one at the top it has no virus. It does say 32 bit but will work in 64 bit.
Step 2: Exporting your model
When your download is complete, unzip it.
Go into WMV and select the model you want as a doodad.
I chose a necropolis.
Go to options>export options>M3 and tick stand, only stand.
Then click File>Export model>M3 and export it to a place (preferably desktop) and go into your SC2 map editor.
Step 3: Importing your model
Now in the editor go into your import manager and right click, select import files navigate to the folder where your models were.
Import the TGA files (The textures) and Save.
Now close the editor and make sure it's not open in any way (This saves us from big problems) go back into the editor and load your map.
Then import the M3 file and save.
Step 4: making it a doodad!
Now we are almost done all we have to do is make your model a doodad.
Open the data editor and select the models tab, right click and select add object, put in the name of the model (mine was unnamed model Because I was lazy) and set model type to generic.
Set Based on to doodad.
Select the model tap then look for your model and select is it should be outside of any folders.
Now go to your actors tab and add a new object again name it the same as your model Set actor type to doodad and based on to CActorDoodad Set doodad type to none so it will be easy to find.
Now the model should be selected if not select Art - model and select what you named your model.
press D in the editor and your doodad should be under none!
CONGRATULATIONS you have a doodad from WOW! you have conquered this wall of text.
My textures werent working when i put everything in folders. so i put everything in the import manager out of folders and it all worked that should help all you with texture problems :D
