On a model, yeah. Do you know how? I've also been trying to figure out how to attach the Flashlight actor to a unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That would be much appreciated. You should post tutorials as well you know. I know it's probably a lot and you're doing a lot, but the whole flashlight thing has been bugging me rather tremendously, and knowing how to do it, as opposed to just using someone else's, would be awesome.

Awesome list and awesome work man.

Just figured I'd ask though. Any chance you have a flashlight ability in there?

    Hello.

I was wondering if there was a list or resource where one could see what animations each unit had. Or is this just a trial and error thing?

Pretty self-explanatory. I don't know if I'm missing something, I feel like there should be an easy way to do this and everyone already seems to know how. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks for your time.

I'm not entirely sure how to change an ability into a weapon. Do you think you could tell me how to do that? If that doesn't work, I'm thinking of just giving up on the whole ammunition thing. I don't know why the editor won't let you just add an energy requirement to the attack ability.

I might of missed this and it's probably a dumb question but how do you add an existing actor to an ability or unit?

    Quote from RileyStarcraft: Go

It's part of a model. There's a "Flashlight" model in the data files that you should be able to attach to an arbitrary unit to add a flashlight capability, but short of editing the model file you will not be able to remove it from a model where it's built in.

As for your second question I have absolutely no idea what you're asking.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look for that model.

Also let me try to explain my question a little better. I have a marine with an ability that works exactly like the attack ability but costs energy. Unfortunately it also works like a regular ability in that I can't hit the hotkey, click somewhere on the map, and expect the unit to cast that ability on any unit it sees.

The attack ability that most units have lets you hit A, the hotkey for it, click somewhere, and the unit will attack any enemy units they run into. I'm trying to make this ability work that way too, but can't really find out how. The closest I've gotten to it is autocasting. Does that help?

posted a message on Adding Light to Unit

    Hey guys.

The Jim Raynor Sniper unit has a light infront of it and I was wondering what that was. At first I thought it might be a model or an actor but I can't see anything on his unit that makes me think it's that. I'm trying to add it to another unit, but don't know how. Anyone know how?

Also I asked this earlier but I was wondering if anyone knew how to make an ability that would function similarly to the general attack ability in that you could click a and then right click somewhere and the unit would autocast it.

    Thanks for your time guys.

Thank you very much! That solved the problem. I still have to mess around with it a bit to get it just right but the animation is now playing, thank you.

I hate to bother you further but do you have any idea how I might make it so I could press the hotkey button and then right click somewhere and the unit would automatically cast the ability on enemies?

Thanks for your time and your reply.

posted a message on Marine Attack Animation Won't Play

    Hey there guys,

I've been lurking around the forums for a bit checking out tutorials to see if they helped me at all with my problem and none of them seemed to do the trick so I figured I'd ask for help here.

I recently created my own Marine unit, gave it energy, and then replaced its standard attack with an ability that consumes five energy per shot but is suppose to be identical to its regular attack. The ability has all the effects and animations of the marines regular attack, when the ability executes it makes the sound and a little plume of light appears at the tip of the gun but the marine refuses to do the attack animation. It just stands stiff in its idle animation.

I'm about to give up on these changes soon because I realize even if I managed to make it play the animation I wouldn't be able to get it so it functions completely like a normal attack in that you could press a and then click somewhere on the map to attack move, but I'd like to at least know why it won't play the animation when everything seems to be in order.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
