    Sadly the fact is scrolling down for 5-10 mins is the only way. some people have hosted their map for 6 mins and then exit the game and rehosted it again over and over again so it has a chance to be spotted. New maps will have to deal with this until they (hopefully.....)replace it I do NOT look forward to this when i finally complete my big map project...

    The tyrant looks like the second scary melee boss from diabilo II i really like it =D (the name was tal' rasha right?) Wish I had the program for the blender plugin...what program do you have to have in order to use the blender plugin from assets? or if you didn't use that then what program did you use?

    For awhile now Ive been working on a map on and off but Ive been learning how to make custom units like dark templars riding zerglings and the triggers are far from done in fact I just finished the terrain so it wont b rdy for a long time wish i had started it a month ago so i could enter it. Its the kind of map that you explained, you would go out and choose the land you want and get spawns or be able to get money to spawn. and like vejux said It takes a hell load of polishing in a strategy game like you are asking for.

    I have no clue whatsoever how to achieve something like that id like to see some 1 who knows the editor really well to look in2 this idea (bump =D) (may b use the actor effects from the mother ship vortex ability without the diminishing in2 nothingness part for the visual effect?)

    Support for 3D vision!!!!! I assume that means less lag with the 3rd person view. I also saw something about chat channels being added in the future and of course allot of balancing work across the 3 races.Edit: Nvm I know what they mean by the support of 3D vision now.

    Amen Johney I spend like 90% more time on the editor than actually playing the game because there is SO MUCH more to the editor. Thanks for the rundown on working with actors Prozaic(and thaks for taking the painstaking time to make it).

    when making maps you should always keep in mind there will always be @$$holes or pissed off people and try to make it so they can do minimal damage in ruining the game, it is a sad thing but it must be done. =( It is why the banning system had been added to so many Starcraft brood war custom maps (though it could also be a tool for the @$$holes too and that is why people then started to add voting systems of banning)

    then use steps 8-9 (just find the orange buttons ignore the first part) read the notice and then steps 12-20 n see if that works for u except of the custom terrain just choose the texture you want tell me if that works for ya =D

    How to use your Imported Custom terrain.

    1. Import your custom terrain and save so it is now usable.
    2. Go to the terrain editor and add each type of terrain to the map (you can apparently only edit the terrain that you place on the map you don't really need each type but will bake easier)
    3. Now at the top left of the terrain editor open the Map tab and choose Map Textures,
    4. On the top right of Map Textures Press modify.
    5. At the top left of the data editor there is a tab called Data type and set it to Terrain Texture.
    6. Now on the left where all the textures are right click and choose Add Object.
    7. Set your Name and ID and press ok.
    8. now find your texture and click it and find the 6 orange buttons on the top of the data editor.
    9. Now click the button that says "show table View" or the 2nt one starting from the left.
    10. Now on the Right scroll down to the bottom and find Normal Map and texture.
    11. Click browse and find your custom texture that will be in the Editor Data section.
    NOTE!!! some textures do not include a "normal" texture if it does not just set both Normal map and texture to your custom texture but i am not sure it will react to lighting correctly without normal.
    Now that you have added your Texture to the data now to add it to the map.
    12. Go back to the tab Data type at the top left and set it to Terrain Texture sets.
    13. Now on the left box click the type of map that you used for example if you chose Korhal(Urban) you would click on Korhal(Urban)
    14. Assuming that you did not unclick "Show table View" scroll to the bottom on the right.
    15. Now on the Right of the box that Says "terrain textures click on a terrain that you will not use in the map and delete it to make space for your custom texture.
    16. Now on the Left of the Terrain Textures box find your texture and add it to the right.
    17. Next go back to Map Textures (the window opened in step 3)
    18. Now click the terrain box on the right that you had removed from the data editor and add your custom texture, press ok and accept the undo information will be deleted box.
    19. Now you should be able to go to the terrain layer in the terrain editor and use your terrain.
    20. Enjoy! (tell me if it worked out)

    There is a specific and very VERY convenient condition that makes the trigger fire when the player leaves the game. The condition is called Player Leaves Game and I believe that the trigger would work well. I wish I could help you more but I'm slowly learning the trigger n data editor.

    while fooling around I have found that specific SM Models do have some cool little animations that could be useful in games. for example one of the SM people is actually sitting down, also you could use some SM units like the Flagship Station units to make space ship rooms and halls. I do not think that using SM models is really a bad thing its just hard to put some of them into specific situations and all you really have to do is do some experimentation in the data editor to see if they have any abilities or animations canceled. like the civilian's attack is canceled until you set the civilian able to attack. The only bad thing i could see in SM models is the amount of lag that they could easily create if you put too many on a map. and 1 more thing about SM units ill use the flagship station SM units as an example. The flagship station before you set it looks like its going to be set at a spot but when you place it it doesn't show up. I thought the unit was messed up at first but strangely i just needed to raise it UI hight because it was at about -8 even though it showed 0 in UI hight.
