    And you're right, the standard issue towers would kill the inspector. I never even tested those towers killing the inspector on the hardest difficulty (his life scales on difficulty, even though he dies in one hit). But even if those towers didn't kill him, he'd leak and you'd get the same dialog as if you intentionally murdered him. If you know how to break the game to that extent (probably impossible) then you probably also know the story!

    You're a god damn hero, son. I just replicated it, it is the splitting towers. I think it's uncommon for players to have these towers by this level. I'm going to try to have a fix for this out ASAP!

    Let me help clear this up. There are Tier 0 through Tier 5 towers, but only spitfire/homing have a Tier 0.

    • Spitfire Turret I (Tier 0)
    • Spitfire Turret II (Tier 0)
    • Spitfire Turret III (Tier 0)
    • Spitfire Turret IV (Tier 0)
    • Advanced Spitfire Turret I (Tier 1)
    • Advanced Spitfire Turret II (Tier 2)
    • Advanced Spitfire Turret III (Tier 3)
    • Advanced Spitfire Turret IV (Tier 4)
    • Advanced Spitfire Turret V (Tier 5)

    Towers that are low level don't give the full spectator amounts later in the game. Tier 0 towers begin to throttle spectators by day 16 and worth almost nothing by day 26. Tier 1 starts throttling at day 26 and worth almost nothing by day 36. Tier 2 starts throttling at day 36 and worth almost nothing by day 46. Tier 3 starts throttling at day 46. Tiers 4 and 5 never throttle and are always worth 100% crowd appeal.

    I did this because the Tier 0 towers in particular are very efficient for cost vs. crowd appeal, but if you think of it as a simulation of a park, spectators wouldn't care as much about those weak towers once there are BIGGER AND COOLER towers to see. It's like that ride in the amusement park (the Scrambler) that just spins in circles and no one cares about it anymore. People can still enjoy it, but no one is going to the park for that ride.

    Before this change, people were able to make dozens and dozens of the cheapest towers late in the game and pull in a ridiculous amount of spectators. It's like going to an amusement park that has only Scrambler rides. NO THANK YOU.

    Sorry man, I appreciate your dedication to that bug. That was something that slipped in last night while I was doing a bug fix marathon way too late. The bug was in for a few hours in the middle of the night (EST) but was fixed very early this morning.

    I also backed off a little on the throttling for using low level towers late in the game. Spectators should be a little easier now. As a warning, all Tier I towers will start to bring in less spectators after day 26, and bring in almost nothing by day 36. Tiers II and III are also throttled a little, but later in the game. These changes should have a minimal effect against people who are playing the game naturally and regularly upgrading towers, but a huge impact on the strategies that involve tons and tons of low level towers.

    Just patched that bug a few minutes ago, along with the other balance changes i mentioned. :)

    Turns out if you ever built a tower after day 46 it would be cursed. I can't believe I played so many times without building new towers after that point. I tend to stick to my guns (literally).

    You know what? It doesn't! I think I just forgot about that. Next patch you'll get it.

    Oh and one more thing, I know you've been going for high scores and what not, but the bank was bugged so it wasn't saving high scores. Your incredible score is lost, buddy. :( It's ok though, the banked high score is irrelevant for this contest.

    Congrats! I've been bug fixing all night, but I'll watch that replay tomorrow. I'm going to assume the replay is legit, so I guess this is it!

    That being said, you got in just under the wire. I'm making a fix to the game tonight to limit the towers to 50, and throttling crowd appeal for low level towers later in the game. You wouldn't have been able to use that strat tomorrow. On the other hand, this contest had an ulterior motive: To encourage people to send me replays on how they broke the game! YOU PLAYED RIGHT INTO MY HANDS.

    Anyways, there's ways in the game to break 1,000,000 without cheesy strats. So, here's all I'm saying:

    There are 4 possible endings to the game. One of those 4 endings would help you breach 1,000,000. ;)

    Thanks for the bugs! I think some of them (like brood lord never moving) is the editor being stupid. Some times it just... breaks and I can never ever replicate it. The platform has a lot of flaws.

    Oh also, TDT just hit the #2 spot! Squadron Tower Defense is the only one ahead, and that may be an insurmountable feat.

    Going to be nerfing the Burnout Tower kill bonus tonight, it's clearly too much. That was one of the few things I wasn't able to fully play test before release. Also going to be discouraging building tons of low level towers. However, I planned to do these things before I read any of this.

    Also, to get a high score in this game, you need to figure out the most exploitative strategy. Really get those synergies working for you.

    I was just looking on my file system. I create the bank as "TowerDefenseTycoon_HighScore", but then the actual bank file is called "TowerDefenseTycoonHighScore". So maybe the fact that the game is altering the file name makes it mismatch? I'll test it out tonight.

    I'm trying to get my banks working here, but I've got a problem where the bank info isn't saved between games. I preload the bank for each player on init, then during the game I open the bank and pull out a boolean value, which defaults to "false" when the bank doesn't exist yet. I set the boolean value to "true" and save it in the bank, and then any time I access that value from the bank for the rest of the game I can pull it out as "true".

    However, once I restart the map, make another test, or load a new instance of the game, the value has always been reset back to "false". So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I preload the banks, and I can save and retrieve values during a game, but between games all my data is lost.

    Anyone know?

    There's no way to avoid going negative the first time you run through the final level, but you shouldn't go negative for the second run through. The end game sequence changes based on how you do on that last attempt. There are 4 different endings.

    Also, you lose when you go negative popularity, but you can't lose after level 48. I didn't want to jip people who lose on level 49.

    Oh man, that's a ton of money!

    Just be sure to send me the replay if you make it. A replay shows me all the same text printouts that you see in the game, and when you earn your final payout it sets your $ resource (mineral slot) to your final score, and you can see that value at all times in a replay.

    So here's how the game works. If you beat it on easy your final payout is $100,000, add an extra 100k per difficulty level up to a 500,000 payout for bankruptcy difficulty. If you play on "random upgrades" it will add an extra $100k + ($10k * difficulty).
