Its not the old Amiga helicopter game. Its based on Desert Strike for SC1. Desert Strike was probably the most popular tug of war map for SC1 since it came out. Specifically "version Queen" by Queen-Gambit was very popular. I've based mine on that version. Much to my pleasure, Queen-Gambit commented on my project, and seemed to be quite pleased with it.
The patch messed some things up (lots of things :s), but I'm working on fixing them. :)
Is there any artificial way to temporarily boost popularity like there used to be? There's no way to test maps without a quick boost 0.o It used to be that I'd boost it to the 4-5th page, and then it would get enough traffic to go up by itself from there.... but there is no way I'll get any traffic when I'm number 500 on the list, and I'd really like some testing done :)
Not to mention getting new versions more popular than old versions... this problem is even worse than it was in phase 1.
Hey everyone. I've released desert strike onto battle.net. Its pretty darn unpopular right now, but I'd like some people to test it out, since the patch screwed a lot of stuff out. Please play it!! :D
I've set the baneling nest to cost 50 minerals to build in the data editor. They cost 150 minerals and 50 vespene gas in the game. I've got several buildings whose costs are not the default, and I'd like to know if there is a simple fix for this, where I don't need to edit every single building. Note: this was caused by the patch, as everything worked fine before the patch.
I'm just working out how I'm going to arrange for a situation where I win thousands of dollars from blizzard in a law suit. Children under 13 play the game. A child with a unique name claims to be stalked/sexually harassed... something along the lines.
Real IDs are made for real life.... someone who doesn't have one made that decision.
Some time ago, I tried something very similar, and I finally gave up. Best option is to make a dialog box that you set up to look like a leaderboard. At least, from my experience.
I am not a modeler, but my brother picked it up from scratch a few weeks ago, and I'm impressed by his progress. My suggestions:
1) Download blender.
2) Learn the program inside and out. Modeling things well does take creativity, but if you can't place your creativity into the rules of the software (the "how" its done) then creativity is useless.
3) Expect to learn slowly. He and I sat down for a full day trying to create a sphere of fire in 3DS max. We wanted 3 layers: an inner burning layer like the sun, and 2 flame layers. It took us about 3 hours to figure out how to get the animation to rotate at 60 frames per second for 90 seconds without accelerating or decelerating. Now that we've figured it out, we could do the same thing in about 3 seconds.
4) Do tutorials. Any tutorial that you can follow (i.e. isn't way out of your league) is worth going through. I don't know all the places where great tutorials can be found, but youtube does have some.
5) When you want textures, google images is a plentiful source while you're just trying things out.
Now that those thoughts out there... I'm actually quite interested to hear what other people have to say about this (since my bro is in a similar boat).
Lennywig's lacks subtlety. The scene would have been funny without the text, but he overdid it by adding in the kind of thing that he would say if he were there... and I don't want Lennywig personally commenting on my wallpaper every time I look at it.
Why are there 2 submissions of the same map from different angles, again? Did one person steal the other's? Could the creators of those two shots comment?
I dunno Mokse, I think the first set was superior in every way. :P

Some people tried to explain it somewhere in the following post link, but I don't really understand if there is a simple solution from what they've said: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/map-development/4635-broken-stuffs-in-your-maps-caused-by-the-new-patch/

yes.

I got into the game and made a character. However, I can't get into a match or join a custom game, and I can't publish, like I said.

The editor won't let me connect to battle.net. It just sits there trying to connect forever. Any suggestions?

I hear that Sixen is phase 2, and if we want him, we have to court him with flowers.

Congrats! Did you figure out how to get it in game? (I've never actually tried to do it)
