I'm quite new to editing still, and I haven't touched the editor much. But I decided to actually try and finish a decent map this time (:
So, my biggest problem right now is getting it started. I plan on having a "selectable" team/solo game depending on what the players want. Also, taking the majority vote, they will be transferred to the next map where they can do whatever they need to do. After that is completed, they will be taken to the next map with no selection and so on.
So, it should look like a tree. At "start", 2 branches labeled "team" and the other "solo". From those come one line with the name of the next challenge, and so on until the game is over.
A good example I can think of is "Impossible Scenario" map.
Could someone teach me how to execute the Map within a Map feature and the most "efficient" selection method?
Yes, I've tried to set it through triggers, but I can't seem to fine the right one. The "Set alliance by group" doesn't seem to work for me nor the plain old "Set alliance". Is there a specific thing you have to do?
Currently, I'm trying to set teams as well as designating where the players will "start" (not with a nexus/hatch/CC rather just that's the first place the player will see)
Problems:
-Teams in general aren't working. I have no clue what's going on
-I tried using start location for team arrangement, but the "allies" proceeded to attack each other
Also, I'm quite new to the editor, so if it's ok, I'll be updating this thread with more questions
Ahh thanks :) Two more questions. How do you edit the damage of Psi Storm? The marine (your example) is not a caster, and when I go to Psi Storm Effects, there is Psi Storm (Damage), Psi Storm (Damage2), and Psi Storm (Damage3). Which do I edit?
Ahh thanks guys :) I'll try this as soon as I finish up my homework :P
Okay. So, I got the unit's image going (not really. I decided not to duplicate. I duplicated with actor, still a ball...) anyways, for the damage, in the effects, because the High Templar is a caster, what do I do to change damage? There are 3 "damages". I'm not sure how to explain. Which one should I edit? And is "amount" the damage amount I edit?
Currently, I'm trying to duplicate a unit (the High Templar and Banshee), renaming them, and changing their stats.
I'm looking to change:
name
stats (shield/hp)
abilities (the energy for psi storm, as well as damage for attacks)
Currently, the problems are:
When I create for example, Bob the High Templar, he comes out as a circle, and when I test the map, he's still that same sphere. When I click on him, the place where the unit picture is supposed to be is an outline of the high templar. How would you fix this?
When duplicating the unit, how would you edit attack damages of spells (high templar) or attacks (banshee)
I seem to have trouble with something else. Say I want a pylon to regenerate shields/hp of nearby units. I've set up everything you said, but merely changed the name to "Regen Buff" and used the med2 image as my icon. Would this alter the supposed regeneration effect?
My goal is to have units around the pylon regenerate hp/shields faster than normal
Ahhh. Took me awhile of screwing around, but I got this now :) So technically, I can use this to add spine crawlers to an ultralisk? But the spine crawlers wouldn't do damage correct?

Uhhh.
Standard Protoss except the yellow into Blue/Black (your choice. If blue, please, differ from that gem thingy)
Thanks (:

Ahh thanks! I was considering that and remembered that's how the Impossible Scenario Maps work. I'll see if my "maps" fit haha. Thanks (:
Any other suggestions to actually put maps in maps haha
