posted a message on Neon Violet Square

Getting back to one of my projects,  i thought of involving a very large section of buildings like those in Neon Violet Square. In faact I already have a fairly complicateD Metropolis designed already.

I was hoping to integrate some of the advances features that aare featured in Neon Violet Square that I could finish my map. Does Neon Violet Square have anything to do witht eh Neon Evangelion? IU never got to see that show.

My map is seen here the beginning of the Metroplis that I built years ago. Unfortuantely I can't never publish because it is too complex too so far. But I would like to finish my map after my work on the Brood War.

Here is a video fo my map and my question is how to build the buildings liike those in Neon viiolet Sqwuare with lights and so on involving.

I am having a hard time understanding your question. Are you looking for Starcraft: Broodwar sound files?

I have a big folder of all the Starcraft 1 sound files if you want it?
Thanks. I eventually downloaded the SCMDraft (an updated version of the release editor). Apparently SCMDraft makes all sound files from  the game available pre-loaded in the sound folder. I will probably beusing this while I complete the project for SC:R:BW map.

Looks like there's an old Sound Utility for this.

Yeah, sounds about right. I'm working on low terrain near the map bounds and it seems that when the height of the camera is lower it takes a lot of time and effort to scroll about. No big deal. I'll look back at it later or take another angle.

Yeah, there's probably quite a bit of stuff available. I haven't really looked through the new assets for the second expansion. My time has been pretty wrapped up since that point, although I have done some mapping. It looks like I'm near the tail end of stuff regarding the site at the moment, and it's definitely a shame about the main page.

I will hopefully be completing a project some time soon. I guess we'll see. Would be pretty exciting to breathe a little life into the SC2 community with spare time. I know I always wanted to be a more influential source of Starcraft-stuff. At least in the UMS/Arcade-related department.

    It's a great community.

I thought I would make introduction to map using the Starcraft: Brood War editor released with remastered. I notice that there are not immediately sound files to be selected from in the editor. You still have to upload sounds into an assets collection similar to the process in the Starcraft 2: Galaxy Editor.

I'm working kind of quickly through the map making process but I didn't immediately find a location with .wav files. If anyone knows where I can get some quick audio solutions for a Starcraft Brood War map, it would be great.

I'm thinking things along the lines of "tranmission bleeps" etc.--basic stuff. I will be able to supply any musical numbers myself presumably.

Thanks in advance--and let me know if this is the best forum for SCBW questions. Seems like a timely precursor option for the multitude of projects.

edit: I see I can only use .wav files for this project. It looks like that's all that is compatible with the Starcraft: Brood War map editor. Anyone have any advice regarding this in this respect?

    How's everyone?

It's been almost 8 years now since I first visited SC2 Mapster. I sure got a lot out of this place. Never really experimented with video game programming aside from some website-related objects and my econometrics work. To be honest that was pretty limited, R-wise and limdep--occult stuff I didn't use much and most people didn't use at all. This really has been my major foray into the world of the technically adept as far as software engineering goes. I enjoyed the BW editor but never placed quite this much time into development.

Quick technical question: Anyone know how to change scroll speed in the editor? I'm still using mouse wheel scroll, and it gets a little slow toward the Terrain.

I'd probably like to wrap up or complete a project or two before the end of time (where SC2 is concerned). Any major revisions to the site that I haven't noticed? I see there aren't main page videos any more, tragically.

Also, any new assets? I remember there was a lot of custom stuff available, especially some UI-related scroll features. No new vids?

lol i tried to learn blender, paint 3D, and some other thing on LSD and i think my brain crashed. it's too bad blizzard isn't microsoft. remapping everything from the galaxy editor to other cameras gave me a heartache

edit: i do not actually use LSD but it felt that way looking at blender

do you know of any good blender tutorials for the beginner? i have found some but many are out-of-date and do not teach the camera in 2017

I need to make some geometric models for a book I'm writing. It's very important to the book. Can anyone assist me with free or very low cost 3D modeling technology of basic geometric shapes?

posted a message on [Collab Request] Project Hovercrafts

Statement of Purpose: I've gotten a lot of requests from SC2 players to build a map that supports a few Hovercrafts. I know there are a lot of Mapster users out there who have more experience in this area than I, so I thought I would reach out to the community about Hovercrafts.

My personal role:   I don't have any particular role that I think I would be best at. I have a lot of experience with the Data editor, and some triggering and terraining experience, but have never made a professional-level melee map. So there's a lot of areas people could help with. I feel like without too much effort we could put together a hovercraft model just by designing the unit as an air unit.

Primary Question:   If we designed a hovercraft for each race, how would we handle the implementation?  Is there anyone out there with enough experience to design a production structure, and would we want the production structure to built on ground, in water, or in air?

Some strategic thoughts:   Hovercrafts are intriguing because we could build a variety of them. Some might be capable of brief air (to scale cliffs) while others might be able to travel across space terrain. All of the hovercrafts would be able to cross water.

updates:   If we get enough interest I'll keep this thread updated with stuff we could do.  Obviously we could build some maps to support hovercrafts, including resources, and stuff like that.

edit: i would like to make the map probably a SCII:BW map like on arcade....

Maybe for the Protoss hovercraft a psi craft creating psi fields to travel on for the hovercrafts off water? Like a warp prism creating psi for the other hovercrafts when they are venturing off water. not sure how this can work since if it is blown up the other hovercraft will be stranded?

posted a message on Killing Everyone in the Party

    In reply to DrSuperEvil:

No, not a tragic ending. The game will absolutely not be a dystopia. I do not like dystopian fiction because it does not succeed. Although Blade Runner was incredibly compelling, I felt like even in the best of scenarios it is impossible to create a real dytopia.
I just want the entire party to die in a random disaster like an earthquake or tsunami, except in starcraft. Obviously it's bizarre when humans commit atrocities like nuking the Japanese, which is absolutely not what I am going for. But when some very low probability event like a tsunami blasts through coastlines it's awesome, or awe-inspiring in some more interesting way that feels less tragic.
I feel like you could have a relaxing element for perfectionist players like when your D3 HC gets "near death" but doesn't die for the season. I am planning something humorous and recurring like total annihilation for losing a coin flip.

So I've been thinking about some funny ways of just ending the game for all the characters in my RPG. The project has been on hold for a little while to give me a chance to catch up with my consultants for the project.

I'd really like to just kill all the characters at once for no reason and make this something that helps encourage players to not feel stressed.

I'd like to get some models advice if anyone can think of anything. Something like Super Mario RPG's Smithy attacks: Star Rain and Leaf Cutter.

I remember there being some Firewall models in the editor but I'm not sure.

Yes, you are free to include many of the abilities. I would really like to create a comprehensive list of abilities. I am making an RPG and will try to use all the abilities.

ty yea it is super cool. hammincourt will launch the 4 drone sets next to have their lasers dodged. but applying the secret laser dodging formula is proving difficult and only the corner values will respond... so he is jumping rope until the values can be found.
