Obviously it depends on the units used, but I find that 'micro' in starcraft isn't as much about 'saving units' as it was in Warcraft 3 (simply because a single unit is in almost all cases less valuable than a similar unit was in War3), but more about making good use of your abilities at the right time. Think about it - every unit in the game has some ability that needs to be managed well. From the obvious Psi Storms to the fairly simple Banshee Cloak to knowing when to use Stimpack effectively. If you want to work on your micro, I'd focus on that first and foremost, positioning second, and saving near-dead units third, even if that last one might be more valuable as Protoss.
Start asking yourself "What does this ability do?", follow it up with "What would the effect of using this ability be in this situation" which should automatically lead to "What are the best situations for me to use this ability" and in some cases "and how/where do I use it?".
Chriamon's right, it's Ctrl+t. It's the shortcut for turning "show hidden terrain cells" on/off, and I reckon you mostly use this when you've got actual hidden cells - as in ones on the side of the map.
To be fair, I just get bread (toasted or not), ham, cheese, curry sauce, garlic sauce, tomatoes, lettuce and chicken. I combine these in pretty much every way possible, and I tend to like the result. Toasted bread+Ham&Cheese, or bread+ham&cheese+lettuce+tomatoes or bread+chicken+lettuce+garlic/curry sauce are my favourites though.
Also, I've uplodead 3 images, The first is the only way I can take a decent screenshot. When I take a top-down, or any other view, since my water is so shallow and my land doesn't sit very high above it it causes it to bleed through horribly.
Try lowering the height of your water by just .1, that should do the trick.
Not sure what happened to the top left, but I promise that flaw doesn't exist. Everything else should be detailed enough to make some recommendations.
This is a bug I've seen more often in the editor - just drag a brush with lower terrain over there and then press control-Z. Sometimes the minimap doesn't correctly update.
You know when you're in that situation where you vaguely remember a storyline, picture or certain part about a specific story, game or song, but can't recall exactly what story/game/song it was and end up never quite figuring it out? That's exactly what happened to me about ten years ago - I had seen a screenshot of some random awesome game where you built bases on islands floating in the sky. That memory was far from enough to find out what game it was though, so I never did learn.
Now, ten years later, I find this post. It's a bit too late for me now to check out a game I found awesome back then, but you just accidentally completely solved one of my life's mysteries. =P
As for your map - how is it coming along? I'm curious now.
Holland seems to be a part of Germany? We're mostly north of France, really =P And Great Britain is also north of France. Grab google earth to get that one right.
With all respect, I reckon your post sort of misses it's own point. The thing is, you seem like a pretty tight group of friends. To ask for a terrainer to 'join that group' is basically saying "You should come be our friend!", which while not a bad thing, isn't something a lot of people looking on the Team Recruitment board will be specifically interested in.
For example, I'm a terrainer myself, but am a bit at a loss as to what I should do with this post. I probably wouldn't dislike you guys, but you've got very little posted up in terms of projects/ideas you're hosting. As a terrainer, I'm interested in what ideas people come up with and if/how I can terrain to meet their wishes. It might be just me, but a "contact me and lets see if we can start something" doesn't work too well. If I wanted to do that, I'd be the one making the OP here.

It's ironic.

On a semi-unrelated note, yesterday I was watching a random Star Trek: Voyager episode, which featured a race called the 'Voth'.
This is what their spaceships looked like. Talk about co-incidence? =P

Aye aye - no offense meant to any of your work, you're doing a good job. Keep it up =)
You just need one citizen of every country in the world to make a post here =P

It misses a SC2mapster logo ;P
Nice work though - it seems a bit 'simple', but I like that. At least it's original.

I am fairly sure this can be done, as I've seen a 'diablo-styled' map featured here that generated random 'dungeons', using blocks for walls.
How you do it?
I have absolutely not a clue.
