Aw, don't be like that, Tolkfan. I'm sure that the finished product would blow the community's mind away, despite the lack of response in that one thread. I would nut myself if anybody could finish this.

Really?. I doubt this is possible.

I did it myself. I had two copies for EU but I didn't find out until recently that I could e-mail Blizzard to get the region changed. So I tried it on my second account and it worked. Now I have access to both NA and EU servers on two separate accounts.

It does mean I have to install two instances of SC2... Seriously. Send Blizzard a ticket under the category Account Issues and see what happens. Unless you've been account sharing or something against TOS you won't get banned for asking Blizzard a simple question...

Beware of what xhatix said though. I don't know if it's possible to region exchange between other regions, but I can personally confirm that NA <-> EU is possible!

First of all: LOL @ that quote! Wunterwaffen's maps, right? Those weren't even close to good enough to be called 'remakes'. I mean no offense to the poor guy though.

Back on topic: Campaign maps are single-player content and it's kind of a niche interest but the demand exists. I frequently lurk this site for new single-player maps to download and the number is disappointingly few. I have no need to learn the SC:BW storyline but I am still hoping that we may someday see an awesome remake of them.

I attempted this project during the beta but failed miserably due to Galaxy Editor changes breaking my mod and everything but I have my old project up for download for somebody else to salvage, which is what user Jones313 has already done. He contacted me recently via PM about a remake of my remake using Maverck's SC2 Brood War mod (which is incredible, btw) including classic briefing screens and such. He has made some great progress on it so far. I haven't gotten to try it out yet but it sounds like it'll be of solid quality.

I told Jones313 that I was on hiatus from map making but I think I will reconsider, if he reads this post. So, you can count me in. I'll help out. Maybe I'll grab Jones313 and get him into this too.

You can send an e-mail form to Blizzard to get your account's region changed. Your achievements, ladder, and stats will be reset in the process.

•No unit micro nor scv repairing at all.

This most certainly isn't right. The SCVs do repair. They repair buildings the second you attack them. When I've rushed with Zerglings, they'd use up to 3 of them to repair it.

No hard feelings. I apologize as well. This thread just reminds me of my uber broken mod which makes me feel sour inside about all the lost effort.

@ Vexal: That's a nice list of things that broke, but there are problems with custom units not attacking at all. I suppose one would have to go back and remake them all from scratch again? Even the attack/morphing actors have been screwed up then. Good lord.

if you micro well enough you can retreat weakened unitsbefore they die, this requires some precise timing and is also impossible when focus fired upon.

That falls under a casualty. Anybody can do that. What about no casualty?

Great, so now I'm naive for actually wanting to push out a good product.

    Cool story, bro.

Edit: At least I am now well versed in the editor and the time I spent was worth it. I can work on maps at more efficient rates instead of sitting down for 12 hours trying to figure out how a certain trigger works.

Ugh yea thanks i feel exactly the same way -.-. Maybe there's a way to launch the maps with an older version of the editor? I think if that would work it would be a good first step..

But yeah it sucks losing so much work. I only risked it because they said they wouldn't let something like that happen, otherwise i wouldn't of invested so much time and effort into it :(.

Yeah, no kidding. It'll be a while before I bother making some huge mod again. I'm just going to make maps/campaigns with vanilla.

    Surprised? really?

Trolling? Here? I thought I was on SC2Mapster. I'm sure that there are a lot of people affected by this but not everyone has the same amount of work done on a project as someone who does.

I feel for you, LeetBox. I've got a total conversion mod that I was working on (check my Projects) and had a good amount of it completed. I had devoted every waking hour of my free time into it for 2 weeks. This latest patch broke nearly everything in my mod, undoing a good 200 hours of work, and I just don't feel motivated to go back and do it all again alone.

I'm feeling pretty smashed about it, I don't know if I'll ever feel the drive I used to have to complete the project. I just can't get that feeling back when I know that every patch that looms on the horizon is going to break something. This patch has been by far the worst, probably the worst it's ever going to get, to say the least. But, knowing that, I still can't pick myself back up and work on it. I might just settle for something less ambitious and simpler that a stupid patch isn't going to render totally useless.

As far as I know, there is no way to get this data back. You have to edit it again yourself. Nonetheless, I'll just leave my mod alone and hope it fixes itself through a patch. If it doesn't, it's screwed.

If I don't have replays of cheese strats, how can I build an AI that can survive against them?

I'm not an awesome SC2 player. I haven't played 100+ battles yet. I don't know most of the acronyms people use to describe common strats. Let alone know the complete list of strats commonly used.

Therefor I would like to ask you to pretend I don't know anything about SC2 strategies. Play against the AI, and if you win, send me the replay please. If the strat you used (cheesy or not) has a commonly used name in the community, mention that as well.

Read you loud and clear. Sure thing, I'll do that for you.
    Still waiting on B.net.

    Edit:

    Quote:

The most common strategy you will find out is to turtle up, wait for their first wave to hit (typical MM, gateway unit, roach ...) beat it with little or no causality (due to horrible micro) and then immediately push back to their main ->gg

I was just reading through these posts again and saw this. Little to no casualty? How exactly is this even possible? The AI is retarded about retreating its units for no reason but not to the effect that their army never fires a single shot.

Make an AI that can fight off cheese strats and you got a deal. Not even the Insane AI can survive.
I'd post replays if you even wanted to see replays of cheese lol. But B.net needs to come back online first.

posted a message on Crap, my test map is all screwed up, help?

Currently there seems to be a lot of problems the patch introduced to pre-existing data edits. For instance, my mod is totally screwed up now. I suppose you'd just have to go in and rectify the problems yourself, even if it means remaking things from scratch. Shouldn't be hard to do the same thing twice but it really sucks.
