posted a message on Vector Targeting

So, I'm in the process of being a busy little bee, and while I was making abilities, the thought came across to me about how cool it would be to have some vector targeting capabilities in SC2, reminiscient of the style in the game Heroes of Newerth. I figured here would be as good of play as any to ask whether or not it was a feasible concept to pull off in SC2, so is it?

For those that do not know what Vector Targeting is or have not played HoN, Vector Targeting is a special type of targeting that requires two clicks to activate the spell. For example, let's say you were to take a spell similar to WC3's Shockwave from the Tauren Chieftain and wanted to make it into a vector target, it would work something like the following: Click to cast the spell and the aiming interface appears, you target one point as the starting point and an arrow interface appears between that point and your cursor and the target point cast interface remains until you click the ground on another spot. After you choose your two locations, a shockwave would form from the first point and travel to the second.

posted a message on Mana Costs

I was wondering if there was a way to allow an ability to have a fluctuating mana cost. For instance, whenever you have it at it's normal state, it may cost 100 mana, but when you activate another ability, it may cost only half of that. I realize, that the most obvious solution would be to create an alternative form of the ability, but considering that I was wanting to use this effect en masse, it would not be ideal to have to create a dummy ability for every single ability within the map.

So, with that being said, since there are ways to alter cooldowns, is there a way to alter mana costs similarly?

posted a message on Popular SC2 Modding Sites

Hey, I was just curious about what the popular modding sites for SC2 were. I'm obviously well aware of SC2Mapster and I know HiveWorkshop is in the process of converting, but I'm afraid I'm slightly behind in the transition from WC3 -> SC2 in terms of keeping up with the sites and was wondering if someone could enlighten me.

posted a message on Damage Types

I was a bit curious about the damage types in SC2. Is there only a preset amount like in WC3 (Normal, Magic, Spell, etc)? Does it also work the same way as armor types (Having the biological, etc.)?
