posted a message on SC1 campaigns data

Hello, I'm currently searching for a way to access the SC1 and SC1:BW campaigns data. This includes the .scm and .scx StarEdit files as well as any dialogue sound files used. Can it be accessed from my computer (I have SC1 and BW) and/or downloaded from somewhere? I can't find them anywhere.

posted a message on Omar Khadr - Your Thoughts?

I may not agree with Omar Khadr ideology, but please remember:

1)That he should be considered a child soldier (he was fifteen when he was captured).

2)That he as been imprisoned for seven years (which is illegal, since he is considered by international laws as an child soldier) at Guantanamo Bay (this place don't even need a comment).

3)That he as been tortured (that's against Human's Rights) so is "confessions" are invalid at a trial.

4)That (according to nearly all humanitarian organization) he doesn't have access to a fair trial: he either plead guilty or he have an almost guaranteed life sentence.

5)That there was another insurgent fighter on location who could have thrown the grenade.

I heard something funny this morning in the news. Apparently, according to an American psychologist at Guantanamo Bay, Khadr's ideology has become more extreme since he was imprisoned seven years ago. Lol. They killed everyone around him, they captured him, they tortured him, they gave him an unfair trial, than they wonders why he hates them more than before. Those "extremist" wouldn't be so extreme if they weren't dealt with so brutally.

Did Americans ever tried to hold any sort of peace talks with the "terrorists"? Before the battle at the village of Ayub Kheyl, did anybody tried an alternative to armed combat? No. They just came and shot everybody in sight. Even if Khadr had thrown the grenade, even if you overlook the fact that he wasn't 18 when he was captured, is he really worse than the Americans? In my view, it's not just Khadr or any other "terrorists" that killed this soldier: George Bush and everyone who voted for him should also share some part of the guilt because it's them who send him to die, for no really good reasons. Please don't compare the war in Afghanistan and Iraq with WW2 (Yeah, that's for SouLCarveRR).

    It's just my opinion, anyway.

posted a message on [Video] Doodad Hunt - NOW OPEN BETA

I thinks you should mix the teleport and random doodads change ideas and gives players a lifeline: if there screws, they can click the button (or you can have a determined hotkey) and get teleported to a new random location with a randomized appearance.

You could also add a ingame menu that allow players to changes their appearance at will when playing. Ex.: You're a tree, you get caught, you run, you escape. To avoid get caught again, you click on the little arrow to the right, a list of what you can become appear and you click "rock" to change into a rock. I don't thinks it would be unbalanced.

Anyways, this map look epic. Can't wait to play it!

Does including the phrase "terrible, terrible damage" in your map can infringe the "not mentioning Blizzard Employees" restriction?

posted a message on Campaign dependency

I am trying to uses the models from the campaign dependency but it's very problematic. When I load a map where I opened the campaign dependency, everything from it (models, units, building, terrain objects, etc) just disappear. When I go in Dependencies, it say it still there but I can remove it because I already used them. Example: I put a preserver prison on the map. When I reopen the map, the prison still appear on the minimap and I can select it, but there is no model and it is no longer available in the units menu, just like everything else from the campaign.

How can I maintain all the campaign stuff in my map without it disappearing like that?

I tried making a doodad for a melee map but I ended up failing. Can somebody give me a little how to? Right now I didn't even managed to duplicate one...

What I was trying to do is making a doodad with the model of the Protoss archive that appear in "In Utter Darkness" (it's a campaign building that is named "Archive" in the editor).

Not only I can't makes a doodad but I also don't finds the Archive model. Help would be greatly appreciated.

posted a message on What to change in the Galaxy Editor

I want a freaking ice texture set. With cliffs, textures and doodads (mainly icy stuff, snowy stuff and snow weather).

I also totally agree with IskatuMesk: the textures limit, the map size limit and the cliff's levels number limit are all very retarded. Fix this now blizzard: it hinder my mapmaking.

posted a message on TMA Community searching for new map creator

Honestly, you should really forget about the beacons stuff: that outdated. Even if you choose to have an exact copy you can use dialogs for that. Been overly restricted about this map isn't in your favor.

With dialogs, upgrading the maps with new units and features will be a piece of cake.

I would have offered my help has a terrainer but it look like someone else beat me at it already. PM me if you want my help anyway.

    Good luck with the project!

Yes indeed a screenshot would be fine too and some requirement could be scraped but the contest should not be the best looking melee map. I think the purpose of such a contest is to bring out concepts that could be integrated in future maps, whatever their style is.

    For the terraining contest

I think the format for entries should be like this: -The entries are SC2 maps (not a screenshot or a video) -The maps does not need to be playable (No needs of minerals, playable areas, etc) -There is no fog of war in the maps (so you can see everything) -Units and buildings are not allowed in the maps -The maps should be relatively small but not TOO small (you can leave a patch of terrain blank around if you like) -No trigger (except possibly for the no fog thing) -The camera should be limited to default (No custom or first person) -Limited usage of custom models is allowed but not evaluated

That the idea. Tell me what you think about it. I think a contest like this would improve the quality of maps in generals.

Oh and sorry, I said I would post my terrain work but I'm kinda lazy today. Maybe I work on it tonight. Shame I deleted all my old melee maps...

It's kind of late and I have nothing ready to show but tomorrow I'm going to upload some examples of doodads and terrains arrangements I conceived in a single proof-of-concept map. I will put a link on this tread.

SC2Mapster should make a contest for the best doodads concepts.
