posted a message on Turret Defense 2010 -Final-

I will try with Revision 10 to include turret stacking and probes, but I will only make a new Revision if there are problems with the current one, such as multiple levels starting at the same time (which I hope I fixed with this latest revision 9)

posted a message on Map Editor MATH calculation INCORRECTLY

He is saying that computers and calculators always make errors when you do arithmetic. They're just usually not as apparent. The Intel Celeron processor was made obsolete very quickly because a mathematician noticed that its error in dividing numbers was larger than others, for example.

There is nothing peculiar about this. It happens all the time — its just more apparent here than in other places, that's all...

posted a message on Ideas for your maps

Hi there. I don't have the time to be dedicating as much time to mapmaking in this game as I did in Brood War (I made a Chain of Command thing, several Rainbow Six knockoffs, a MechWarrior RPG, and some other stuff that I can hardly even remember way back when!).

I thought that the best thing I could do would be to give you some ideas to you all in case you were looking for a premise or something for a map. I figure that it would help you guys get better at your craft.

So anyway here are some ideas I have. I intend to add more in later posts in this thread when I come up with more. Hopefully you guys can make them:

In regular SC, the Ghost is almost a necessity in TvP. Making an EMP practice map that is a bit more challenging than the one given here http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=122483 (the current record is 808 — I think its clear that there is a bit of a skill cieling in that map, where once you get to it the map just becomes a matter of endurance rather than skill). I play Terran and so a Ghost micro training map would be an excellent idea for me to get better.

A Stealth Mission map. In Brood War there was a map called Commandos RPG that required a lot of sneaking. This kind of game is something that I hold very dear. Similar in premise to Metal Gear Solid. I assume that the Ghost would be the unit of choice fo a map like this, but I'm in no position to be calling stuff like that.

I tried my hand at recreating the classic Turret Defense before I realized that I don't have enough time to be investing so much effort into this stuff anymore, but perhaps you guys could do it.

How about a map where you need to go Overlord hunting? Or perhaps you have a map that consists of various scenarios that you need to find solutions for? An example of a situation would be harassment: you need to pick off at least 80% of the AI's probes/drones/scvs with 1 Reaper or something. The Impossible maps were always fun. Remember "Are You the Chosen One?"

So yeah that's all I can think of for now. I remember writing stuff down somewhere, but hopefully I can fond it again in my piles of paper that I have around this place.
