posted a message on [1v1] Slag Central v1 Released

Sorry I didn't think to add my little legend images this time. Here an older pic from a little while back that has some markings to show what's what a little better.

http://calibermengsk.com/starcraft/maps/Lava-Level-1a.png I did open some of the choke points a little between the gold and distant expansion. I'll see if I can figure out a way to open some paths up. (this is only my second map, so I haven't quite gotten use to how open a path needs to be. I just feel like I'm making it bigger in the editor)

Also, I have resized the bounds a bit smaller like suggested. There was a lot of wasted space. I'm also probably going to move the natural's ramp to be a bit more of a straight path from the main. I'll see how it looks/feels after that and update it for you guys to see. (I'll do a legend with it next time also.)

^_^ Thanks a bunch for your critiques and suggestions.

I've been working on my second map Slag Central for a while now. I've finally finished it, and would appreciate any criticism towards it so that I can make my next maps better. Here is the link to it.

Description
Slag Central is a large map hosting 1 main, natural, blocked, distant and island expansion per player with a shared gold in the center. Sure, the gold can help, but it is in the center of the map. This is a large map, and should make for some epic games.

This is a totally self centered suggestion, but I'd like a review of my map. It's a simple 1v1 melee map, but I've put quite a bit of time and effort into it. As well, many people at starcraftarena.net have said it seems to be a good map.

If you want to review it, it's Transition Alt and can be found here: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/transition-alt/

Let me know if you decide for or against reviewing it.

Okie dokie. Thanks to the help of comments on starcraftarena.net, I think the map is much better now. Updated with quite a few changes. View the project page in the link provided above.

Finally got around to uploading this after the game's release.

http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/transition-alt/

It's awaiting approval still, but should be up sometime. (Note, it's already uploaded to blizzard's servers from the map editor. Is there some way to publicize the map that's on the official servers?)

I agree on the high yield being too close. (I was a little worried about that, but I was thinking maybe a shorter rush distance with the delayed resources would even things out for the first bit. At least enough time the other player to get the natural.) But, the rush distance actually isn't all that much shorter. So, I've changed it a little. I'm just going to post a link so the page doesn't get stretched. I'm also going to edit the first post to show the new pic. (and a slight update)

A 1v1 Melee map. Has 3 paths on each half, one blocked by rocks. It has two watch towers overlooking the center. There is a main, natural, distant expansion, blocked expansion, island (land island) expansion, and gold. This should make for an epic map with the different paths, the size, and the minerals. I've tried to make it look as awesome as I could with trees and so on. Hope you like it.

Get it at SC2Mapster or from on the blizzard servers. http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/transition-alt/

OLD STUFF:

Ok, so I used to make SC1 maps here and there, and I've been watching SC2 for a long long time, and I decided to make a map. It's my first one using the SC2 editor, and as such may not be all that great. I think it will be fun though. Anyway, I don't think it's ready for release yet, but here is the above image of it: http://calibermengsk.com/starcraft/maps/(2)Transition-Alt.png

Let me know what you guys think of it, good and bad. Blue targets are the player starts.

EDIT: This shows the newest incarnation in the post. Here are the links to the older versions. Original: http://calibermengsk.com/starcraft/maps/Transition(1v1).png

I do still have the original at the moment, so if someone thinks that'd be better, I do have something to go back to.

UPDATE August 17, 2010: I've done a few updates with suggestions, but before releasing an update, I'd like to get some feedback.

http://calibermengsk.com/starcraft/maps/(2)Transition-Alt-v2.1.png I added a ramp behind the gold that goes to the second expansion to open up a different path. I also slightly expanded the choke in the middle, and moved the one tower in the center to the top of the cliff edges. I also added a loss of vision patch next to the second expansion, but close enough to the towers that it can be seen. You get the risk/reward system of a surprise attack, or getting seen by the tower.

Let me know what you think of the updates.
