Glad to see some common sense! You make a very, very good point that I hope people pick up on. Even if we ignore the fact that BNET 2.0 is actually a step backwards from BNET 1.0, you can't overlook the fact that we have lost control to do anything about it. In WC3 people did a variety of things to compensate for features lacking; such as the TDA channel, hosting bots, custom leagues, banlist etc.. None of these things, or anything like them, are possible anymore.

Exactly my point, none of the lack of features/problems/exploits matter at all, nothing about Bnet2.0 matters as long as a community can do something about it. Everything I posted about lingering problems with Bnet, could be ratified via the community. Through 3rd party programs or other things.

Now, this is no longer the case, and the can of worms got even bigger with Bnet2.0 making it an extreme to impossible challenge for new custom communities.

I don't know if you guys are new to Blizzard games, but, Karawasa is pretty much right. I remember seeing Karawasa in TDA, so I can understand his pessimism when it comes to Blizzard. TDA is largely responsible for the reason WC3 was not deemed a failure, because of what it spawned with DotA.

The thing is, even though the community created a place to play games without leavers. Blizzard still did not pick up on the most popular scene in WC3. They did not take anything from the success of DotA and apply it to bnet 2.0. We still have leaver infested games, still have the same maps overpopulated on the front page, still have griefer issues, still have no custom support or catering, still have no way to store data server side, still have hackers, still have all the problems bnet 1.0 had and bnet 2.0 has more problems now than 1.0 had.

After release of a game by Blizzard you cannot expect anything from them. WC3 ladder was destroyed after 1.16, D2 was simplified from the talent patch. They still have not fixed the dupe problem or fix enigma. Even though the game proves time and again it still makes money...

Suffice to say, Blizzard has not proved anything when it comes to refining or fixing problems in a game. Blizzard has absolutely done nothing with the community ever, even though they're fully capable of doing so. Believing that anything will change without proof is fanboytastic. I played Blizzard games since rock n roll racing, bought every game. I still don't believe Blizzard is knows how to cater to a communities needs.

But, even though all that sucks and seems pessimistic of Blizzard, all this doesn't mean anything. As long as the community has control to create what we need. But, bnet2.0 pretty much killed all of that with no channels, and the exploitable popularity system. Now we're told what to play by default, now we're completely locked out to strangers socially from other people on Bnet. I honestly don't know what Blizzard was trying to accomplish, or rather, if they were even trying.

posted a message on Did you play with legos as a child?

    Quick question, have you?

Legos were my favorite toy up as a child. I collected them as a teen.

I think it has alot to do with why I find map making interesting.

Lets call Model1 the main unit, and Model2 the Model Addition.

Say, I want Model2 to run a certain animation when Model1 runs a certain animation. Specifically MovementUpdate.walk/stand.

    Is this possible?

Basically, how to play an animation on an actor separate from that actor.

Pretty sure in the Activision Blizzard quarterly statements; under the Blizzard section it states that they're model of success will be continued by developing the best game possible. Nothing else really, no publisher rights statements, no nothing. Its almost like they're a separate company. Probably because they have long development stages, and need a static stock quotes. Something stupid like that can be the reason for mergers.

Anyway, its not a new stance its always been like that.

But, that doesn't mean Blizzard is all knowing and all powerful when it comes to perfecting a game. Common sense. Blizzard is growing more open to criticism these days. And, feedback good and bad is most likely openly welcome.

I still don't have any faith Blizzard will do much for the custom map community. Alot needs fixing, way to much. I think they're not capable of the challenge, or willing.

    @Eiviyn: Go

I lost faith in Blizzard after reading some letters copy pasted back to Icefrog on his beta forums. What makes you think SC2 will be any different?

So far the only thing Blizzard has done for the modding community is hurt it, with a downgraded bnet. You never seen blues post in the custom map section, drawing attention to conversation of issues in the community. Thus, you can pretty much tell nothing will change.

    Gosh darn....

Set ability level doesn't set ANYTHING it adds to ability level.

Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(3) to 2

Means its adding 2 levels to that ability not setting the level to 2

posted a message on Set ability Level(solved)

Ok, so I really am raging because this SHOULDN'T be happening, but, it is.

Trying to find the problem, here. IT DOESN"T WORK RIGHT. It works fine for the first 2levels, then goes hay wire. For i=2 it sets it to lvl 4 and skips level 3. For i=3, it sets Tube 3 and 8 to level 5 and tube5 to level 6. For i=0 and 1 it works FINE, sets to level 1 and 2.... NO PROBLEMS.....

    Event-
Unit - Any Unit uses Blue Falcon - Blue Falcon - NoobTubeLearn (learn) at Generic6 - Complete stage (Ignore shared abilities)
    Action
    --

Variable - Set i = (Current level for ability Blue Falcon - NoobTubeDummy on (Triggering unit))

General - Repeat (Actions) 4 times
General - Wait 5.0 Game Time seconds
    Variable - Modify i: + 1
UI - Display (Text(i)) for (All players) to Subtitle area
Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(3) to i
Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(5) to i
Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(8) to i

I thought maybe there is something wrong with the trigger, so I set it to show the variable,
    0
    1
    2
    3

The variable is FINE. So how is the trigger calling 2 different numbers when i=3?

It must be the data editor? ITS ALL THE SAME 0123

    And, to top it off...
I set the numbers manually to test if the numbers are causing the problem.
Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(3) to 2
Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(5) to 3
Unit - Set level for (Triggering unit) ability Blue Falcon - Noob Tube(8) to 4

IT SETS IT TO THE EXACT LEVEL, BUT, WHEN CALLING AN INTEGER FROM A VARIABLE IT CALLS 2 NUMBERS FOR TUBE 3/8 and 5.....................................................................
