    Modders will get the last laugh when no one buys HotS. SC2 doesn't deliver like WC3 did, and even that tanked before DotA picked it up.

    Anybody who reads this- so I've got my epic door. But how the heck would I make a unit with different animations? I'm sure it's quite complicated, but a point to the right direction or a tutorial would be great. ;)

    M3 sequences I believe comes with the export/importer.

    I picked up 3ds max last Thursday for the first time. No experience with modeling ever or anything in the graphics world.

    I've learned

    The basics of how to make models using 3ds max. How to use mudbox as well.
    Rigging bones somewhat, still have some issues with imported models and rigging.
    Animations somewhat
    Basics of unwrap UVW

    Currently learning how to draw a diffuse texture.

    Want to learn how to spec and normal mapping after I learn how to draw well enough.

    I am trying to rig up my new model using the hydralisk animation, but soon as I try to add weight it distorts the model.

    I met the guy before, talked with him about some stuff. Nice guy, smart too. Hes done quite a bit for the modding community, hell even cracked some of Valves most important secrets. Pretty sure he got banned for that reason in the first place, exploiting to get something special in game.

    Either way, its still a publicity stunt, grassroots, core gamer community style. When stuff like this happens it only makes other players want to get more involved with the community. It builds trust, and loyalty too. Hell, some modders/artists get paid for donating content to Valve. Dunno, but, every time something like this happens, I feel like it looks bad for Blizzard. The whole DotA scandal looks extremely bad. Its like Blizzard is living in a bubble, unable to adapt to its surroundings, unable to be open to new trending ideas. Gaming industry is still young, and with a decayed modding community, and bored player base. Its seems quite possible for Blizz to end up like Guitar Hero. If Titan does not work out that is.

    Sorry, I thought it happened, as you can tell I've been out of the loop for quite some time. No need to get hostile.

    Of course, a search bar... that is not functionality to play maps with the community. And, from what I have seen there has been no game changing patches other than fixes from updating my SC2.

    I would like to thank you though for answering me more directly, other than the bullshitting and insulting me that I couldn't make a decent map. Well, if I could of got players to even play that map in the first place to decide if it was good or not, then I would agree with you. Thank you for your post though. It did answer alot. Nothing has truly changed, or ever will change, very typical of Blizzard, and nothing more than I expected myself. I don't know why I made this post, if I already knew that. I guess somewhere hope existed and took over for a second.

    I stopped playing SC2, about a month or two ago. I know that Blizzcon happened. Videos look very bad as usual and Blizz just doesn't seem good anymore to the point its disgusting. But, couldn't find anything about mapping other than marketplace is coming or something.

    Does Blizz have any intentions of supporting mappers so we can play our maps with the community? I looked @ the popularity list and its still the same boring maps other than 1 from beta a year ago. Worst creative cockblock I've ever experienced. Is it going to change? Any word on this?

    posted a message on 2 Month social experiment test.

    For 2 months @ the start of March. I have played the system.

    Nearly everyday @ 7-10PM for about 1-2hours on average. I would recruit players from channels, IRC, and forums.

    Forums would result in 1 person per week with a constantly bumped and fresh thread.

    IRC would result in 1-2 people a night.

    Chat channels would result in 1 player per 15 minutes of channel broadcasting, active channels such as Teamliquid as well. Most of the time these players would leave within the first couple minutes due to no patience.

    I have concluded. That it is nearly impossible to find and retain players whom are willing to play a map without some sort of trust involved. Either it be, popularity, friends, a famous youtube broadcaster or word of mouth.

    Sludgewater works on the Dark Templar.

    You are indeed going to have to do a White HDR / Opacity event on your unit to make it look anywhere near like the Placement ingame. It must be an m3 property for placement.

    Here's a pic of Silver_Placement colossus with white 10hdr / .25 opacity, white 5hdr Sludgewater DT.

    It was blue because all models have teamcolor, undernearth all textures. So you got the default teamcolor when replacing the texture with an invalid texture.

    Basically you just want to have the path to the dds with either the prefix or substring. underscores in the path via previewer are what indicate a substring. If there is no substrings you just write out the complete file path name.
