If everyone posted a new thread in the general chat forum every time something changed in their map it would be silly...I could see it if the map was wildly popular, but debates isn't even moderately popular unless some sudden surge has occurred since I was on Bnet last.
In regards to your question, they are not impressive. I would wait perhaps till the next expansion. Also, you can't buy Sc2 'secondhand' unless you takeover the previous owners account.
Nothing beats having to go to a different forum to get changes on this one. I laughed out loud when the mod there said to post on sc2mapster to get changes addressed quicker.
Is it possible to use the editor in anyway without internet? I've found myself internet-less 6 days of the week and the fact you need the internet to open the editor seems beyond stupid to me.
I searched the forum but wasn't able to find any info. Any help would be appreciated.
Personally I've been briefly entertained by SOTIS and ZHRPG. SOTIS is ok if you're too lazy to load up superior versions on Wc3 or League of Legends. ZHRPG is nice with some interesting heroes and fills a gap in RPGs for Sc2. But it is also terribly unimaginative. As far as custom maps go, though, I would say they are the most interesting and well done of any of the maps on the top few popularity pages.
I have played many of the maps listed in this thread, but most are either abysmally low quality (Star Battle) or ADD gameplay (TDs/Tug of Wars) you are better off closing Starcraft and firing up a flash web-game site.
A complicated solution could be use validators to detect whether it is in siege, then use a switch effect to determine whether to move or do a separate Set effect. The set effect could Unsiege the tank while placing a buff on the tank that countsdown however long it takes to unsiege and it's Finish effect could be to Move to the point.
You could give the PDD a buff behavior, then give the main unit a behavior that periodically uses a search effect that applies a move order to units with the buff behavior (The PDD).
If blizzard would let people join multiple channels in the new chat system, it would replace the need for you to invite all the randoms to your friends list since people could just stay in the channel IRC style.
I think according to digital copyright law, for them to avoid being sued they have to delete it the moment anyone reports it. In reality though, there are quite a few maps on Bnet right now (Final Fantasy, Dragon Ball Z, Risk) that haven't been banned despite being there for months.
I disagree that ORPGs don't belong as custom maps or have to be boring. But I do agree that this is too ambitious. Start small. You will be surprised how much work even a small project can be.

An exciting announcement? Maybe they've finally decided to upgrade the horribly outdated forum software. I would be excited about that.

Blizzard would care about this map being #1 about as much as they care about switching featured maps once in awhile. See what I did there?

I just wish the forum had been upgraded to something not painfully awful before everyone decided to vanish.
