Blizzard won't ban you for unlocking a map and looking at it.

@Aenigma: Go That second one would be awesome. You could set certain spawns in a map to be around a certain time.

I know, I just wish I could get more people to want it. I think it would have huge effects, but my thread on the Bnet editor forum died quickly.

Seems to sit in the 8/10 range from the reviews i saw. It is dated though. But hey I won't complain when people point out free games. Someone may be into this sort of thing. =D

posted a message on More Starcraft RTS Custom Games

I thought from the title you meant unique custom RTS games... This is just tweaking the original game so it's easier for people new to the game. No player above platinum would ever agree with these changes...

Protoss are supply heavy for a reason. Upping supply cap just encourages people to sit in their base and make massive armies, which I haven't seen since my days watching my copper league friends.

Allowing zerg to get extra larvae is a change so that zerg players can sit back without having to micro. If you changed this you would need to change other races main base abilities such as MULEs and the protoss building speedup.

Allowing terran to build two units at once is completely unnecessary as anyone facing an infantry ball knows that terran can already pump units out like it's no ones business.

    posted a message on Motivation

I find some of the best ways to stay motivated are as follows:

    1. Involve friends either in the design or testing. Helps when you have people to talk about the project with and get each other excited about it.
    2. Set achievable goals. Aim for smaller goals, dont just wing it and have the goal of 'finishing the map.'
    3. Make a schedule. Helps when you know how your doing timewise on your mod. Plus if you get into a routine it can help.
    4. Reward yourself. When you've finished something in your mod, reward yourself.
    5. Change up your routine. If you know places with internet maybe work on your map there. A fresh environment can motivate.
    6. Alternate projects. If your getting down on a project, maybe work on another for a bit.
    7. Don't tunnel vision. If your workin on your mod don't do it for 10 hours... go outside take a walk, get some fresh air. A small break can go a long way.

My personal method of motivation is:

    1. : Pray Heart of the swarm fixes everything.

Personally I'd like to thank anyone who's contributing to the wiki. I feel it could be a huge potential resource to mappers out there, myself very much included. Don't think you're efforts aren't being noticed! Keep up the great work.

Darn. I think that would be a neat suggestion I'll have to make to Blizzard. Thank you for the quick response.

I was wondering, is it possible for a map to retrieve the date or time from battle.net?

posted a message on Map Marketplace questions

    @Kueken531: Go

I think the benefits are there for dlc mini payments in a map. To be honest I would rather make my map free for everyone and people be able to pay tiny amounts for bonuses, be they aesthetic or gameplay-enhancing, rather than make them have to buy the map outright to begin with. Having people required to pay for a map before playing it is a tough sell in my opinion. That said, a workaround could be to release a trial version of the map for free and a premium version on the marketplace, kind of like Kueken said.

What Kueken said regarding taking down previous versions made me wonder, though. Do you guys think that they will allow you to take down maps in the premium marketplace. Reason I ask is because what is to stop someone from having people buy their map, than take it down at a later date because they need to free up map slots.

    Quote from zeldarules28: Go

Blizzard actually hires modders that make really great custom maps. So make something even better than sc2 in the editor.... Get their attention :D

I think to get into Blizzard using an internship as experience would require a map thats popularity is legendary... like DOTA. Not some short campaigns and not even a map thats all the rage for a little while on Bnet before dying.

    1. 1. Probably not, but I seriously wish they would. Although o3210 makes a good point in saying this is probably a ripoff, there could be significant additions to super popular mods that would be profitable for blizzard to allow microtransactions in some way. For example, adding new heroes to their own DOTA map if it was possible.
    2. 2. This is probably possible, but god why would you do it. Seems just mean. On top of that you would probably just anger your players.
    3. 3. A subscription model for custom playermade maps is just so terrible it makes my head explode how terrible it is. I definately don't think they will have this.

I feel that whether you like ZHRPG, or not. It is by far one of the highest when it comes to production value. And I haven't even played it in months, I'm sure it's even better now.

posted a message on Let's talk about money...

I would pay $0 for both. The custom art, content and voiceover is a selling point, but I can't see putting money into any campaign that is shorter than the 25+ mission Starcraft campaign.

I would also look for something beyond run of the mill campaign. Starcraft introduced a lot of between-mission meta-game. I feel any campaign worth money would have similar content (Research trees, unit unlocks, planet mission selects, etc.)
