posted a message on [Model] Importing WoW Characters to SC2 and Attaching Shoulders + Weapons

Okay - It worked at first and I compiled the map and everything was dandy. I closed the editor for a break and went to play a game or two and then decided to go back and work on the map. I opened the editor and I get the error dialog and "Warning: Model ladysylvanaswindrunner.m3; Unable to create this model."

I am using the lady sylvanas model. But now, it turns it into that gay placeholder sphere.

I re-imported the SAME exact .m3 that I used before, and when I go to save the import it just turns it back into the placeholder sphere :(

EDIT - I just completely renamed the .m3 and it worked. I believe I messed something up in the actors.

posted a message on Commander: Starcraft Sneak Peak

This map has been in development about 7 months so far. 4 Months of it was just sitting on my hard drive collecting dust. (Yes my house is so dusty that most of its dust finds its way into my actual hard drive). Anyways, we decided to pick it up back up (MilkMan and I from Department of Redundancy Department) and release a gameplay preview. There is MUCH more to see than just the gameplay, but we will release more in the future depending on feedback we get.

The objectives, capture the different command points around the map and use their special buildings to your advantage to advance across the map and conquer your opponents base. Sounds simple right? Each side has its own tactical advantages that mirrors the other, making for balanced gameplay. Whoever owns the middle point has advantage of being able to build vehicles and units from the same point. Certain units have abilities to morph into turrets, and others have special battlefield advantages.

This map is a spin off of Commander : Z which was made in 1996 by the Bitmap Bros. We decided to add our own sort of features to their idea and come up with Commander : SC. We decided to name it as such to honor those guys for giving us a cool idea. Anyways, here it is. Hope you enjoy.

posted a message on Need help with making "player leveling" system.

Ive been playin around with the idea of making my map have just a little bit higher replay value. The way I thought of doing that is adding a kind of leveling and progressing system for players who spend more time playing the map. in example, squadron td style. im doing pretty good with banks but i cant figure out a way to go about having the player gain experience and level off of the certain experience he makes.

I also want to implement awards for certain levels and have a heads up display that shows in-game when you gain a level using a type of "achievement" dialog. I also would like to have it implemented into a leaderboard. Does anyone have any suggestions?
