I'd be interested to see you outline the quality of all the maps on the first 3 pages. State their flaws.
Then, post what you believe are "quality" maps from lower in the listing.
As far as I can see, most maps, even the unpopular ones suck. Every map I play makes it more clear that the makers suck at game design. 99% of the projects hosted on the front page of Mapster suck. They're all just tech-demos. So do the projects in the workspace forum. And team recruitment. They're awful.
Almost everyone that tries to make a map is a complete dumbass and they suck at it. And they use the popularity system as a means of lying to themselves. They allow the problems with the popularity system to convince themselves that they really are good at what they do, and they're merely held back by some other system.
Rodrigo, either do an analysis of every map you generalize, or shut the fuck up.
Win.
It's more fun if you play sotis with friends. Pubs are going to be pubs. =\
This is just pure bias. So you're saying that Desert Strike, Star Battle, SotIS and Marine Arena are average quality maps?
The reason why they prioritized maps is because they are currently 'important' to the sc2 community. It's not mainly because no one is going to bother digging down the pages, but because they are, well, not as fun compare to the others. There are some good examples of maps that started from 0 popularity, such as Star Battle and City of Tempest.
Hero Attack version 2.0 has been released! It is available on the North American server. Here is a video of version 2.0:
What is Hero Attack?
Hero attack is an MOBA or AOS style game similar to dota. Players work in teams, control heroes and their goal is to destroy the enemy team's main building. Heroes can gain experience, buy items and learn special abilities.
However, this is not a dota clone and there are a number of features that make Hero Attack unique from other games of this genre. Most noticeably each team chooses a race (Terran, Protoss or Zerg), and each race has a unique set of items, heroes and units. There are also 4 playable maps that players can choose from by voting at the start of the game and each map is very different. Some of the maps have special types of terrain such as mud (which reduces the movement speed of ground units by 50%), ice (which is slippery and prevents ground units from turning or slowing down) and lava (which damages ground units periodically). All heroes and items are based on sc2 units and abilities so it should be fairly strait forward how to use each hero. Each team has computer player that harvests minerals and vespene gas from its base and gives it to the allied players on its team. The computer player builds workers and constructs buildings throughout the game and as the game progresses additional unit producing structures will be constructed that will bring additional units and unit types to the lanes. There are also neutral hostile critters that you can kill for additional minerals and experience.
Currently Hero Attack has:
3 playable races.
4 playable maps.
36 playable heroes.
90 items.
Over 140 different abilities.
That is a ridiculously large amount of content and far more than other SC2 custom games of this genre.
If you want to play Hero Attack, but have difficulty finding players, please join the chat channel “Hero Attack”.
In your video, you showed us 4 unique terrains that have a different playground(mud, icy ground, etc) which makes it interesting, but what
you should have also shown us are the abilities that the 36 heroes have, explaining the purpose of their creation. If you can do that, it will draw more attention to the dota players.
Why is it that every time theres something about sc2 maps, SOMETHING is wrong? In this case its what Kueken said. Another time they said "programmer" instead of progammer, and i cant remember what the third thing was.
Also, why the hell aint catalyst on that list? Or catalyst 2? Or Voidcraft? Why's SotIS so low? Why arent any other of the really good maps on that list?
Didn't the creator of catalyst dropped the project?
Other than that, I believe the author who wrote it is from NA. And also, the order of the map presented does not mean that the first one is the best; they are just mentioning the 'best 8 maps' that they've played.
SotIS hasn't updated for a long time. Until new years, v3.0 was finally released in NA and to other regions, with a bunch of tweaks and balances, including a big improvement on the shop system! As a result, I thought it would be cool and fun to make another SotIS video. I hope you guys find it very entertaining. Any suggestions, please let me know! I am starting to learn how to use Sony Vegas now.
For those who played SotIS religiously; thank God Marine Beacons finally got nerfed. =)
Worst part about this map your working on is that you call it dota....... you shouldnt be calling it dota unless you have some kinda link to the actually DOTA development team.
Although I don't have any really good ideas, I'm just giving my reactions to the ideas about the heroes that people thought about. These suggestions are ideas that could potentially be used to make dota sc2 more unique. I'm just hoping to see abilities that aren't exactly the same as the heroes from dota, perhaps a mixture would be interesting.

Many are not going to want to watch a 'documentary' video of you explaining the stuff. Make it brief, explaining parts of everything in 3-4 minutes.

It's been a week now; any word from Creation25?

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have said this: There's a reason why authors lock their own maps.
http://forums.sc2mapster.com/general/general-chat/5375-my-map-has-been-stolen/?page=3#p54 has happened awhile ago. And with this cracking map program out in the public; there is a possibility that there will be more thieves out on the loose.

Read title again son, dota is just a genre.

As long ecko finds someone to distribute the map in EU, it will happen most likely.

I really hope they're going to have it in sc2, extremely positive that they will make it uber. =D
I looked into one of his quotes, thought it was pretty cool(his name is Franko?).
"Fire washes the skin off the bone and and the sin off the soul. It cleans away the dirt. And my momma didn't raise herself no dirty boy."
