AFAIK, Heroes will have it's own editor, so it won't be connected with the SC2 Editor, even though the game comes from SC2. I remember them saying something about it from their last BlizzCon Panel.

As usual, playing nice doesn't help. Consider yourself warned. More of this will lead to a ban. Cheers.

From my experience with regulating a forum, there's a decent amount of people that don't really care.

@ MasterPride (Assuming Whaletits): There are a few problems that I can easily point out regarding administrative issues, as well as certain members from the community, but it would just stir the pot even further, so I ask those that are attempting to achieve that to stop immediately. I hope this thread doesn't result to a lockdown due to a few members.

Yes, they can. But if they choose not to design their own hero/ability, that's fine. We'll come up with something.

So you mean to say that an 'assistant data specialist' gets to design heroes as well as implementing/creating them in the data editor, then? So say I were that assistant data specialist - I'd be able to do something like come up with, say, a Clockwerk hero whose abilities revolve around rockets, hextech gnomes and explosions, and then create the abilities and actual unit myself? I wouldn't have someone above me coming up with the hero and its abilities telling me how they work, leaving me then to implement it?

Forgive me for being sceptic, but I think you're either misdefining the word 'designing' or the words 'assistant data specialist' within the field of developing. Implementing a hero with abilities someone else came up with isn't really designing, and coming up with ideas for heroes and their abilities isn't really 'data specialism'.

The objective should be clear: In terms of designing Heroes, we're looking for developers that can create abilities based on what they designed via Data. With that mind, we still ultimately hold the decision to implement that Hero or not into the game.

If you would like to work on the Game Interface, then you would apply for UI Specialist. Likewise, if you know how to implement creative abilities mainly using the Data Editor, then you would apply as the Data Specialist. Both of these roles revolve being a designer.

Looks awesome. I'm assuming that's from Blizzard All-Stars. Where did you find that?

I'm having trouble publishing maps from different regions (From NA to EU, KR, SEA, etc). I used to be able to upload to other servers by going to Run > regedit > BattleNetHost. Can anyone help me out in this?

Strange how the actual creator has not posted anything himself.

If one of them does explain the situation, that one should be really careful with their words, which is why I don't think ekcolnovkol should publicly explain the situation; it would probably start some kind of war between him and sidd.

Is that suppose to be a way to discredit someone?

I thought they're also planning to add matchmaking for custom maps? Lastly, I don't think Blizzard DotA will be on the Custom Map list. It should have its own section. Otherwise, they're really competing with the custom map community, (at least with SotIS) which is pretty messed up.

You're right about the innovation part. The SC2 engine was an opportunity to do something new, but look at the outcome of it. Almost everything on the front page has been done before. Innovation is cool, but the benefit is a risky path to take. Sure games like Mafia or Star Battle is new, but think about the many other mapmakers out there that tried getting to the top by creating something new. Lastly, I also don't think it's wise to drop a popular project, especially when it's been worked on for 2-3 years. Plus, there will always be new players trying out the game.

That's a hell of an assumption to make. You know when you assume...you make an ass of yourself.

I'm sorry but this is currently the way I'm perceiving after reading hate messages here from time to time. Don't blame me for the things I've seen. And you know, it's quite odd to use the assume phrase in this situation, but I think it's best to stop that talk about that now.

Instead of simply bashing out that it completely sucks and that there are other better games out there. Why not try helping out with improving the game? For God's sake SOTIS isn't some industrial game like LoL/DotA 2; it's a fan-made game, and the creators don't even work on it for a living, so why are you even comparing it in the first place?

Honestly, have you guys even played the latest version of SotIS? It has changed so much over the months: The map is completely different, the Shop UI is neat, and a lot of cool new heroes were recently released. Don't just say that Heroes are imbalance without any support, don't say that the Interface is complete shit without saying what's exactly bad about it, and don't say that the Hero designs are straight up stupid without showing an example.

The gist that I'm getting is, since most of us here are SC2 Map Makers, we tend to start hating other Map Makers because their map became popular. This is completely absurd.

Again If you really feel that SOTIS isn't good enough, please explain what's missing in it. I'm sure the devs will look into it. The best thing I could do is send him a message about the feedback here. I'm serious about this, and I hope to God that you guys are too.
