Mentioned this in another thread, but there appears to be no way to detect (with triggers) which team a player was on at the lobby screen. My current workaround is to detect teams based on race, and when I host, just make sure each race is on its own team.
Wow, thank you! I'd thought it was impossible to modify error messages... I hadn't noticed you could change the data source in the text editor.
Edit: It's really odd there isn't a Find tool for this window. I ended up doing a search in my extracted game mpq files just to locate what I was looking for.
I'm having the same problem. I need to read (with triggers) what teams players are on to determine various aspects of the game. I tried all morning to figure this out, but couldn't get anything to work. The trigger below does NOT display the "test" message, which makes absolutely no sense given that it seems it checks every single possible setting a player can have.
Here's how I have the game variants screen set up, which follows the same pattern as the melee XvX formats. I can't use the melee formats because my map is 6v6, not 1v1-4v4.
It's not a melee map. I'm attempting to read in the teams with triggers, as described above. I can't figure out how to detect what team a player was on at the custom game lobby screen.
I can't make any sense out of this either. I'm trying to detect which team a player was on at the lobby screen, to properly set teams with triggers. Has anyone got teams working on a map?
I've been trying to set up the game variant properties for four hours now without success, playing around with the Teams and Teams [Premade] settings. This is downright frustrating!
Just to try things out, I attempted the what's below. "Test" didn't show up for any player. What am I missing?

I did figure out you can right-click the game variant and "set as default", though there's no way to get rid of the unmodifiable and broken "Custom" mode, which doesn't show up on the variants window.

I once encountered this when a "pick each unit" loop was calling another function that also had a "pick each unit." I discovered that if I changed one to "for each unit" and used an integer variable to loop, the problem solved itself. This might have something to do with their implementation of iterators.
If you attempt to publish a map without ever loading the Terrain module, the first time you click OK it says it's loading the map for a few seconds, then does nothing. If you click OK a second time, the editor crashes.
Just make sure you've loaded the terrain module at some point since starting the editor.
Just a side note, you can hold ctrl and select both units to see them side by side. I discovered this nice feature entirely by accident. Of course it doesn't solve the problem you describe, but it can help as a workaround for certain situations.
If you set a preset to "Show as Basic Type", it does not show in the lists of other presets. This bug has two parts.
Create a new preset somePreset.
Set "Show as Basic Type" to true for somePreset.
Create a new variable. Here's the first part of the bug. Presets with "show as basic type" flagged don't show up in the list of basic types until the map is saved and reloaded.
Save and reload the map.
Change the new variable's data type to somePreset.
Create a new Preset B of the "custom script" value type.
Note it is not possible to set Preset B's base type to Preset A. This is the second part of the bug.
The result of this is it's impossible to create presets for custom data types.

Surely someone out there has succeeded in reading teams with triggers? I've been bashing my head at this all day . . .

Anyone else find this bizarrely organized?
To simply find where you use a function, you have to wade through 10-20 levels of the tree diagram... I thought I was going in circles at first.

I've discovered a workaround to the bug I indicated in the first post. For step 6, do the following:
