Is there any way to make regions visible to players?
I am not sure if this is even possible. My new map is a city development map that is similar to the computer game Tropico 3 and 4. In that game, the player choose where to build the farms. The productivity of the farms can be different depending on the environmental factors of the location of the farms.
There will be several food producing buildings in my map but I am not sure if it is possible to have something like those in Tropico. Probably not as complicated, but any idea how to make maybe 4-5 levels of different productivity based on the location choice of the buildings?
Just found the specific model that plays the warp in animation is "Pylon Birth" Stand Build End. However, I cannot find which line in the event that called this model....
I looked into the Events of Actor of Pylon and "Protoss building birth small" (can't remember the exact name) and played around with them for some time. Still cannot solve the problem.
Unloaded to #1 just now is the test map. Order the SCV on creep to build a pylon, and trigger will create a pylon. Then you can order other scv to finish the construction.
Eventually, the first problem is kind of solved using some trigger. If you want to see the original problem, just delete the line in the trigger that create the model. Please tell me though if there is other way to do the same thing using data editor.
The second problem is still not solved. Can anyone take a look at the map and tell me what went wrong? Thanks!
In my map, I use trigger to create Pylon unit (under construction), then use SCV to complete the construction. I added the ability "building in progress" to Pylon so that SCV can do its job.
The only problem is the buggy anime. First, after placing the Pylon with trigger, nothing is visible until the SCV starts building the Pylon. Probably because the anime stopped at the very beginning of normal Pylon construction anime. How should I fix it so that something is visible during that phase?
Second, when construction finishes, the Pylon does not "warp in" like it should normally. Instead, the protoss building aniime disappear, then nothing is visible at all for a short time, then suddenly the finished Pylon pops out. How to fix it?
It seems that there is no direct method....
Found a "Unload Validator" at the unload ability and tried it. Unfortunately it did not work.
Also searched the site and found the "Effect: Calldown" page. Its description says the effect can unload unit from transport. However, I could not figure out how it works after trying for an hour.
Eventually, I used trigger to order the other units that I don't want to unload to load back. At least it looks perfect visually.
Still, please tell me if you find others more direct methods!
For example, my Medivac has 4 Marine and I want to unload a specific one that I have set to a unit variable. However, there are only several "Unload All" abilities for various types of unit but not one that can Unload a specific unit.
Thanks! Looks like I do not need to worry too much about exceeding the maximum. :P
I will still try and see if using data table works better.
My new map need a unit group array for each buildings. i.e. UnitGroup (1) for the first building, UnitGroup (2) for the second, etc.
Is there a maximum value of index? I fear it may cause error when I have hundreds of buildings.
Thanks a lot! :)
Like one of the research option in the WIng of Liberty campaign that let you have several SCVs work on the same build together. I cannot find it in the data editor or the trigger editor.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the input!
Just tried Empire Builder, which is an interesting game. Yet it has a lot more fighting elements than Simcity / Tropico, so not really what I am looking for.
I would love to make one such map myself. However, such a big project will need like a month or two to complete but I am not sure if this would worth the effort.... 0.o
I am wondering if there are any maps like Tropico or Simcity? i.e. You play as the president / mayor of the city and direct the construction of various buildings and decide the city's policy. The whole aim of the map is to build a big city, while handling random events / disaster time to time.
Must be interesting if there are such maps in SC2!
Hey boss! Good to see you here!

Oh, and who regsitered the ID "Renee"? And now I have to use this lame ID instead.
Are you sure you didn't register at curse.com / curse-gaming.com previously? I was surprised to find that I already had a account here when I visited it the first time. Then it turned out that it was the account I registered at curse.com years ago when I downloaded WoW addons from its database.
