    Mac Problems:

    ------

Pitfall: When trying to publish I get a: Warning: Document aliases could not be accessed: CLIENTSIDECACHE_LOAD_UNABLE_TO_OPEN_FILE .

Solution: Remake the map (thx houndofbasker). Can follow these quick steps: save as a ComponentsList, then go to the folder created and open ComponentList.SC2Components. Save this as a new map (temporarily changing the name).

    ------

Pitfall: Unable to save resource file... Operation not permitted (1) error occurs during publish preparation (hence, can't publish the map). Occurs for file /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/StarCraftIITemp/Publish/<map name>.SC2Map/Screenshot01.jpg

Cause: It looks like it has to do with the screenshots and file permissions. If I delete all the screenshots from "Battle.net info", I can publish the map. It seemed like a permissions problem but I manipulated it in many ways without success: changed file and folder permissions, opened editor as root, even changed file format from .tga to .dds, etc.. This occurs with any map I create (new or old).

I don't have a solution yet, except for publishing without screenshot. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Hmm, I don't know. I encountered a problem with this approach, where units from the bases always return to their spawn location. I don't now if this is inherited from the sc2 libraries or from the war3 mod I'm using. The "hostile" player solution works for me because I only need towers for the base players, and no unit really.

    More precisions on my problem:

    • I cannot publish any map from my mac OS X machine, even a very basic one, and I get the same error message. So I don't think re-doing the map will help me.
    • I can publish my map from another mac OS X machine, as well as other windows machines.
    • Re-installing the game entirely didn't solve the problem.

I don't get the screenshot you put here; it is a multiple languages problem?

Hey, thanks a lot for trying out the map! It is really enlightening on several aspects.

The map is obviously not perfect, and it is rare to play well on your very first game. I'm thinking about how much I sucked at my first ever Moba game: you can't master a deep game in the first 5 minutes. Sacrificing your own units wasn't the best strategy either, haha! It helps to play with someone who knows a bit how to play so you can copy them (or to read the tutorial, which I agree is too long).

There is room for comebacks with objectives and god spell combinations. But in this case, your really fell too far behind in the early game. Your seem to have played with a player called DuckTheDuck. Was it his first game too? It seems like he read the tutorial, and got tons of objectives and a good army. He also made good use of his god's spells (seems like he chose the God of Eternal Glory). Anyway, I think that enjoying the game shouldn't rely on reading 5 pages of text beforehand, even small pages, which you and most players won't do, and I'm working on improving the first user experience.

    More details:

    • when there is no active objective in a region, units periodically get killed there. That's entirely for performance issues. Not sure how to explain that in game. When a new objective pops up, units present in the region are also killed (just before it pops).
    • Towers in base: I tried many variations, and found that with more towers, the games tend to last longer even though there is no hope of a comeback. That's the problem in lots of Tug of Wars actually. After a few beta test sessions with friends, I decided the current amount is the right amount of towers.
    • I also need a screen so people who are ready to play know that someone is still reading the tutorial.
    • also found many UI inconsistencies thanks to you

I'm glad you liked playing even though the first minutes were really confusing. Thanks again for trying the map!

Pitfall (Mac only): Unable to publish map. I get a: Warning: Document aliases could not be accessed: CLIENTSIDECACHE_LOAD_UNABLE_TO_OPEN_FILE . Then the preparation to publish fails with an Unable to save resource file... error.

I saw a couple of old posts mentioning this error, and saying it is due to a modem problem, but it is not (I tried to do it from different places and restarted modems).

I managed to publish the exact same map from a friend's computer running windows 7 (on the same network connection).

Did anyone else encounter this issue?

posted a message on How to hide AI Players in the Lobby?

Just updating this since I now found a solution.

I was inspired by what I could see in the income wars map, but did a bit differently. In player properties, change the controller of the "base" players from Computer to Hostile, and use triggers to set the correct alliances during game initialization. (If you put them to neutral, they won't attack the enemy on sight, even if you set them as enemies). This way, the "base" players don't even appear in the lobby.

    This solves an actual bug.

If you mess around with player positions in the lobby, you can change a player's team even if it is locked in the map's game variants. The "base" teams could then become your enemy. Some players played my map and had this problem and had their "base" attack them. I think that is not an expected behavior of the lobby, and thus I classify it as a bug from blizzard. The "Hostile" trick is a workaround.

    Map name: Gods Of Terminion

Region: Any. (I posted to map to all regions now).

Post the video here. It's totally fine if its public.

Minimum players: just you against a computer will work, though 1v1 with another human is better. 2v2 and 3v3 are even better. You can play the map against a computer (I do it for testing all the time). It will be dumb, and you'll probably win easily. But since I'm interested to see how you can learn how to play the game, that will not be an issue for the video, it will just be less fun for you.

Mac user here again. I can edit maps but not publish them from my mac (I can publish the same map without problems from a friend's windows machine).

The error I get on the mac is a "Publish errors" pop with 1 error: Unable to save resource file (kCFHostErrorHostNotFound / kCFStreamErrorSOCKSSubDomainVersionCode / kCFStreamErrorSOCKS5BadResponseAddr / kCFStreamErrorDomainPOSIX / evtNotEnb / siInitSDTblErr / kUSBPending / dsBusError / kStatusIsError / kOTSerialSwOverRunErr / cdevResErr / EPERM - / Error code is the version of SOCKS which the server wishes to use / / POSIX errno; interpret using <sys/errno.h> / event not enabled at PostEvent / slot int dispatch table could not be initialized. / / bus error / / / Couldn't get a needed resource; alert / Operation not permitted - (1), /Users/*username*/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/StarCraftIITemp/Publish/GodsOfTerminion.SC2Map/Screenshot01.jpg)

    Hi,

I can't publish maps from my Mac OS X machine.

I get the following error: "Publish errors": "Unable to save resource file (kCFHostErrorHostNotFound / kCFStreamErrorSOCKSSubDomainVersionCode / kCFStreamErrorSOCKS5BadResponseAddr / kCFStreamErrorDomainPOSIX / evtNotEnb / siInitSDTblErr / kUSBPending / dsBusError / kStatusIsError / kOTSerialSwOverRunErr / cdevResErr / EPERM - / Error code is the version of SOCKS which the server wishes to use / / POSIX errno; interpret using <sys/errno.h> / event not enabled at PostEvent / slot int dispatch table could not be initialized. / / bus error / / / Couldn't get a needed resource; alert / Operation not permitted - (1), /Users/*username*/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/StarCraftIITemp/Publish/GodsOfTerminion.SC2Map/Screenshot01.jpg)

I used to be able to publish maps without problems before patch 3.0.0 . Its the first time I try doing that from the mac but it doesn't work (I get the same error when I try to publish to different regions).

I am able to publish my map to any region from a machine running Windows. I am now at a friends place just to be able to publish from his Windows machine...

Hey hey! Thanks so much for testing all these maps. I had problems with the patch too, but all of them are fixed now.

I'm also working on a map for Rock The Cabinet and would really appreciate feedback from a first-timer. It is called Gods of Terminion:

You probably should avoid watching the above video, in order to better simulate a player seeing the game for the first time inside the arcade. There is an in-game tutorial for that purpose. The map is available to play in North America, Europe and Asia (couldn't upload to South East Asia).

The game should be played against a human (it is a tug of war), and can be played 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3. However, I put a minimal AI in there so you can also play a 1v1 against a computer. He won't use spells, and you'll easily crush him, but you'll get a good idea of the game, and may even have fun!

posted a message on Announcing Gods Of Terminion - Need testers

    Hi everybody!

In Gods of Terminion, you must destroy enemy God statues while protecting yours in a Tug of War style. In addition to classic Tug of War gameplay, I added ideas inspired by Moba games to make it more interactive.

    1. You build "trainer" units in your base, which will spawn units to fight for you at each wave.
    2. You can cast powerful spells with your God, to try and snowball a big wave in your favor, to destroy the enemy.
    3. Secondary objectives appear in jungles: you can send your waves there instead of towards the enemy, the rewards can be worth it.

Hey Renee, I'm now using the latest version of your mod which is published in America: War3 Extra (GA) v3.7.

I can't publish this to Europe because this version doesn't exist there yet (it is at v2.4 now). Are there major differences between v2.4 in Europe and v3.7 in the US?
