posted a message on Request for input on a Nexus Word Wars type map

    Hi everyone!

I have a quick question to ask: Since I've always been a fan of Nexus word wars, and was sad to see it go, I would like to create a new map, based on it, but with more features, and which hopefully will stay more up to date. However, I wouldn't want to make a map that nobody is interested in actually playing, so: What are your thoughts on a typing-trainer like map, i.e.: A tug of war, where you have to type like hell to stay alive. Would you like to see such a map made with a new name and new features, or do you prefer more "conventional" types of maps?

    ---

For those who don't know: Nexus word wars used to be a popular map back in the early days of SC2. Then, after introducing a dictionary, it got banned for some absolutely ridiculous reason (I think because it included a religious word or something along those lines). After a long struggle, it was reinstated, but it has been dead ever since, seeing as nobody wanted to go looking for it after it had already vanished for weeks. The goal is simple: There are two nexuses, and the battle is 3v3. Monsters start to appear from all sides and attack your nexus, and your enemy can send waves to you as well. Your goal is to kill these monsters by typing the word that appears on top of them as quickly as possible, before they shred your nexus. Last team alive wins.

It was a simple recipe, but very well polished, and it really improved your typing speed.

Let me know what you think.

posted a message on Where is the Jurassic Park of SC2?

    Hello there, people.

Does anyone know of a great Jurassic Park map, like in the good old TFT-days?

For those who don't know, let me explain: The players would all start out in the center of the map. Either alone or in teams of 2-3, they would set out into the jungle, and build sort of a base. After a certain amount of time, dinosaurs would start to come and see you as dinner. You had walls, guns, towers, vehicles, and what not at your disposal to survive this. After a certain amount of time (set at the beginning of the game), evac would come and get you out, winning you the game.

Now I have looked, and there is a Jurassic park map in SC2, which you can completely forget about, it's hopeless. Then there is MineralZ and evolution, but these don't even come close.

So does anyone know of such a map, or is one being made right now?

    Cheers

posted a message on Project Xeno Yoxa

    Hi there!

Well now, not the typical kind of map I like to play, but I do have a passion for triggers, and I was about to join a project a few days ago, but the guy responsible has gone AWOL, and currently, I just want to work on something. So, if you are interested, my skills are yours.

I can code in GUI or in Script format (which I prefer, since I write programs in C quite often in my line of work).

Unfortunately, I am on the european servers. Let me know if this messes things up, and if you are interested.

    Cheers

    Hi there!

I am not that great a data editor, but I know my stuff in triggers (I can code in GUI or code style, whichever you prefer), since I program regularly in my line of work.

Let me know if you need the help.

    Cheers

posted a message on Nexus Word Wars was banned

    @KratsAU: Go

    Hi there guys!

I know this post is already a bit old, but I hope that something has happend in the meantime. I have not seen Nexus Word Wars anywhere, so I will assume it is still banned.

It's of course ridiculous, banning a map because of a lesbian word. (and to some religious ones. Although if you include jesus, you also should include horus, vishna, krishna, mythas etc. as well ;) )

In any case: If it interests anybody, it should be common knowledge that Blizzard has a track record for getting into trouble because of ganging up on homosexuals. See:

    http://kotaku.com/159536/blizzards-reaction-to-gay-guilds-an-unfortunate-mistake http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/31/blizzard-vs-gaymers-are-other-minorities-next/

It is no surprise they are again doing such nonsense here. It is rather unfortunate. Can't you publish the game under a new name?

    Yours,

    Ouguiya

posted a message on Map development - Marine Mania (a.k.a: Footmen Wars/Frenzy)

    Hello everyone!

There is a quick update since last time: I would like to welcome Mistahsnipah, Bloodcount and Shiny45 to the team, which will certainly make great contributions.

We are still looking for someone with good skills in unit / hero / item / abilities creation and editing though (Bloodcount will be overloaded with the amount of units which are needed).

And, if there are any skilled coders, you are most welcome too.

Thanks to the whole team for joining and their contributions thus far.

    Yours,

    Ouguiya

    @MistahSnipah:

Cool! You are most welcome. I will add you to the list of the developers. I'll also send a PM with more contact details so we can stay in touch! Thanks for your support!

@ Mozared: Oh no! I had no idea... Damn Microsoft, always stealing ideas... I'll stick with it anyway :)

@EternalWraith Yes, actually, I do. Though, you haven't told me yet. (By the way: Come on, you're not that desperate to get your posts up, are you?)

    Yours,

posted a message on Map development - Marine Mania (a.k.a: Footmen Wars/Frenzy)

Hello everyone! How are you all doing?

Since Footmen Wars / Frenzy was one of the great maps of Warcraft III, I and a couple of others would like to attempt to port it to Starcraft II.

Under the name "Marine Mania", we want to create a map which has more possibilities than any Warcraft III Player could ever dream of, more fun, more strategy, and more immersion.

But we can't do it on our own, so we would like to welcome anyone willing to help, has a decent skill in the Galaxy Editor / World editor, and who preferably enjoied playing Footmen-type maps.

    The team currently consists of:

    • Ouguiya - Coordinator and Semi-Coder
    • Killerbine, aka Monsterkatze - Artist and tester
    • Bloodcount - Tester and Object editor

You are fully entitled to ask: Why would I put my great skill into such a project?

Well, we don't plan to simply make a normal Footmen styled map. We believe that with the galaxy editor, more has to be possible. The plans include far more features, maybe even mini games, and far more new stuff.

As to myself: I was a long-time Footmen fan, and played many maps out there, before finally making my own one (Footmen Chronicles, see hiveworkshop). It added a lot of features not present in the classical Footmen Frenzy, plus merged in some themes from other maps.

The game will have all the features of Footmen Chronicles, plus a boatload of new ones which simply were not possible in the old World editor.

See the map project here on this great site, or the development team for it for further details.

I wish you all a good day and hope to hear from you soon.

    Yours,

    Ouguiya

posted a message on [Contest] Cut Scene

    Hi there, people!

Since there is this contest, I decided to throw my hat into the ring... I hope it's not that bad, even though I had to hurry it a bit since I only learned of the contest recently.

Have fun watching, and for all who don't know the joke at the end, search in youtube for the same last words which the marine says.

    Cheers!
