    I think that idea isn't so bad.

    The point is to make people know that your map is out there. Sure you can do it by advertising, creating a video etc but besides that not everyone of the SC2 community is hanging around in these forums you would advertise your map in, not every mapmaker is able to create these kind of attractive videos aswell.

    It's all about making people know that your map exists. And if they play it a week, the majority of people will know that it exists, so they will probably keep track of it if they like it - and there is your popularity/community.

    I see players sometimes on my map that say "I liked this map back in WC3 and didn't knew it was here - cool!" (even if the map sucks, we all know it blahblah - some people like it.)

    I think it is at least worth the try. Obviously the chosen maps should be playable and at least kinda bug free.

    Hello.

    While working on a WC3 remake for SC2 i tried to recreate some known WC3 abilities to keep the game basically the same as it was back then in WC3.
    Through creating these abilities, i learned several basics about actors, effects and behaviors.

    The abilities i did back then were really easy ones, like stun´s (root, bolt, warstomp), aura´s (vampic, command, unholy) or passive things like critical strike or evasion.

    Now, i still need tons of abilities to bring my map into some playable state someday - but also i'd like to create some assets of all the finished abilities, to make it easier for 'new' mappers to implement basic hero features.
    Although i learned some things about data editing in the last few months i am not able to create 'high-level' effects and abilities like seen around here, like kueken´s work as an example.

    So i'd like to ask for help on this little "project".

    I made a list of the abilities i'd like to create - what i need is help on different aspects:

    a.) How to create one of these abilities the best possible way. (Tutorials etc.)
    b.) What visual effects could be used to represent them. (You know any models or effects that would fit?)
    c.) Can these abilities be improved with some new functions? (Ideas?)


    Active Abilities:
    - Blizzard/Fire Rain
    - Acid Bomb
    - Chemical Rage
    - Healing Spray
    - Transmute
    - Fan of Knifes
    - Shadow Strike
    - Energy/Life Siphon
    - Impale
    - Chain Heal
    - Hex
    - Mirror Images
    - Stampede
    - Windwalk (full cloak)
    - Bladestorm
    - Immolation
    - Silence
    - Locust Swarm
    - Sleep
    - Fork Lightning
    - Chain Lightning
    - Earthquake
    - Electric Shield
    - Flame Breath
    - Holy Light
    - Drunken Haze
    - Shockwave

    Summoning:
    - Unit with stats based on Attributes
    - Standard Summons (Water Elemental, Hawks, Pheonixes)
    - Serpend Wards
    - Vengeance Spirit

    Autocast Abilities:
    - Frost Bolt
    - Searing Arrow
    - Dark Arrow


    Some of them are kinda easy, others seem harder due to custom effects etc.

    My goal is to learn from this and to provide an ability database to other users - but if there are some skilled Data-Editors out there that would like to contribute some of the items in that list, that would be cool ofcourse.

    I will add the abilities i already have, users contribute or i finished to this thread and replace their names in the list with a link to a map/mod file.

    Some last info´s:

    Hey.

    I had this issue several times now, on different maps - sometimes on one map while not on another one.

    I can't tell you how to fix it, but there is another function called "Reveal Area" - It is basically the same as Autoreveal except you put in a number for how long you want that region to be revealed.
    Use 0 for infinite reveal and you have the same function.

    Can't really understand what makes a guy, who seems like any other average wow-player to dress up as a cop and then start shooting people.

    That guy wrote a book that has been put on the internet (by himself i guess, right before he did what he did) and contains very disturbing informations about his cause, his ideology and in the end even the planning phase of this tragedy.

    This may sound weird, but to answer on Mozared´s post about the guy being mad, that guy is really intelligent (dont get me wrong, i am not gloryfing him or complimenting him, that's just what you can read out of that book) and did this while thinking he is doing the right thing for his "cause" or "ideology" - what obviously is terrifying and if there are more of this kind of people, and i am pretty sure there are, i really start being scared as shit.

    Rest in Piece to all of his victims and may he get what he deserves.

    About the fire particles, that sucks :/ Hope the will be some solution for this.

    edit: About the attack animation - I just recreated the complete unit plus model etc. and now it works :S so probably i copied something somewhere and it bugged off with the attack animation.

    About the Death Animation - Thanks, that actually worked.

    Also all the Firelands Bosses? (I know ragnaros is already in the molten core pack, but he has a new model i guess..?)

    And another question - i was going to use Deathwing aswell as the Worgen in my game, but both had no attack animation. Do i have to add them anyhow anywhere? Or do they have to be exported seperately?

    Also i tried importing the new Dreadlord model (that without the breastplate above his head) - but he wont get the textures. (not my first model import so i know how to import them, but it does not work)

    Last thing, an Death animation - How would i set that to a unit? At least i think the models also have their death animations.. (Probably not the right place to ask but well, its about the wow models here)

    - Looking for creative minds to improve and create abilities and ultimates.
    - Looking for Triggerers to help adding new features and fixing several things.
    - Also looking for Data Editors able to create abilities (plus visuals) and some other things.

    - Testers needed. (5-9 people)
    Beside the team recruitments i am looking for testers that would playtest the map several times and write down things like imablances, broken stuff or what could be improved.
    These testers should be able to play the map if something's has been updated to test again etc.

    Hello.

    While the Stargate Galaxies team is still looking for skilled GFX people, i have a request of some 2D work that would speed up things a little bit.

    What do i need?

    An Ancient Dialing Remote. (See attachment)
    It is an remote to control and dial the Stargate and also move an flying camera ball called "Kino".

    It would be okay if it has the graphical style of this DHD - http://www.webcreation.ca/gallery/graphics/stargate/sg1_sga/sg1-dhd_lg.jpg
    But anything else will work too.

    This is needed to recreate the device as an dialog, letting the player dial the stargate, store/get some informations and (possibly) use an actual ingame-Kino.

    Thats why the buttons on the right side would also be needed as 3 different color types. (unpressed, pressed and active (active should glow))

    The middle part where the video feed is, can be just black.

    Dimensions like 700x350 would be good.

    Would be awesome if someone is able to do that, even if i know this might be a little bit work.
    You obviously would be named in the credits of the game.

    Oh hey.

    Well, i didn't thought that your reply needed another reply just yet Thats why i already counted you in as one of the 3 exisitng team-members already.

    Lore-wise i'd say that at first i definitly would like to keep it anywhere in the SG1 timeline. Personally i love SGU and we can think about going there on some point, but a Stargate game without the epicness of Teal'c/O'Neill isn't a Stargate game ;).

    But first things first anyways, we'd have to
    1. Decide our game mechanics (last time we went with 3rd person but im not sure about that atm..)
    2. Create the basic game system, having a working "Stargate" and things like that.

    After that or while doing that we can discuss our timeline. (While thinking about it now SGU seems pretty awesome, continuing the story that probably never will be continued :o!)

    Due to recent questions and reminders about this project, i have decided to revive Stargate Galaxies.

    Right now we have 3 team-members (Trigger/Data Editing) and we are looking for several more.

    I will post a list of specializations we need in order to bring the project back on track - if you meet one of the requirements and would like to join the team, please either post here or send me an PM.

    See the projects-page for informations, videos (proof of concept) and screenshots what we achived before the project went into hibernation.

    We most likely wont work with most of the old content and kinda "start over".

    List of needed specializations:

    - Someone skilled in GFX things like Photoshop (creating icons, loadingscreens, etc..).

    - 3D Modelers (we have G-Mod models of Stargate things).

    - Story Writers (Stargate cracks - know the "lore" and be able to create an "alternate" timeline).

    - Sound Editors (Weapon sounds, probably even synchronization of conversations).

    - Terrainers (We need some awesome terrainers for different planets and interior like the Stargate Center and things like that).
