    @Petoj87: Go

    It's extremely complicated to duplicate. I did it once, but I couldn't tell you exactly how any more. I will say that you'll have to duplicate several colossus actors that aren't automatically duplicated when you duplicate the colossus, and you have to go through the events and other parts of each actor to make sure they link to the new weapons/actors etc. Basically duplication doesn't duplicate everything you need, and since some stuff doesn't get duplicated, when you duplicate them they won't be linked to automatically.

    I solved my problem by completely deleting my current variants and making them from scratch. It's possible I'd messed up somewhere, or maybe it's just because I made this map with the beta editor originally. Either way, if you're having the same problem, it might help to just delete your variants and recreate them.

    posted a message on Custom Map Blizzard STRIKE

    I'm very much against the current popularity system, and I think grouping by category and allowing searches would be much more effective. That said, I have had no trouble getting my newest map to be popular so far (it hasn't been on page 1, but it was at the very top of page 2) and I released it several days after the game was released because I got my copy by mail. I didn't boost it or anything beyond playing through it 3 or 4 times with friends, but you'll notice that even having 3 or 4 plays puts it above like 70% (just a guess) of the maps on the list, giving it a significant advantage in being found.

    I think it's partly just luck or name recognition as well, since my map is named similarly to my first map and to a ton of SC1 maps (special forces). I haven't even bothered re-uploading my first special forces map since the game came out because by the time I had my copy of the game like 2 or 3 others had uploaded it and one of them was on the first page.

    I'm having a weird issue where a phantom computer player appears when I switch game modes in the Create Custom Game lobby on battle.net. Also when I switch from the first mode it's impossible to switch back, and you have to create a new game to get back to the default mode. I'll upload a video and attach the map in a little bit.

    The only thing I customized in the Player Properties is the names of the players and the controllers. The two game modes are identical aside from description/name and the "game mode HACK" attribute you showed us how to use.

    posted a message on How to set F1 as idle worker in Data Editor?

    @Covet78: Go

    I think you probably need to check the Worker flag on your unit (somewhere in the Unit tab of your unit in the data editor). It should automatically use F1 as the idle worker hotkey, all you need to do is tell the game your unit is a worker.

    Have you tried fiddling with Auto Cast Acquire Level? I have no idea what it actually does, but it's possible setting it to something other than offensive might help.

    The terrain objects you're looking for are campaign objects. You'll need to add the campaign dependency to your map to see them. I haven't done much with them yet so I don't know exactly how to get them to work, but I know you place them over actual terrain, not over a gap, and they're designed for a specific cliff level so if you don't use it on that level it'll change the cliff level to that when you place it.

    If I set up a good portion of my triggers to only function when someone picks a certain game mode, doesn't that kind of screw up anyone playing offline? Or is there some way for offline players to specify game mode that I'm not thinking of, aside from me implementing a dialog to choose (which defeats the purpose of using game modes in the first place for me)?

    I know most people will play online so it's not a huge deal in the end, but I still like to think about it at least.

    Thanks a lot for this, it explains a lot of things I didn't understand. Especially helpful to me was the method for detecting which game mode was picked by the user.

    posted a message on Map LAG BUG - Workaround

    @Acemore: Go

    Sorry for resurrecting a dead thread but does anyone know if this is still necessary? I don't use "Wait for key" and I was noticing quite a bit of lag at times playing with random people on my map. I have no trouble when testing it with people I know, though so it's possible that someone's PC can't handle the load and it's slowing everyone down.

    I haven't experienced this yet, maybe you could attach your map to your post so we can test it ourselves? If you don't want to I'd understand, but I don't know any other way to look into your problem.

    I feel like I'm doing this one wrong, or maybe it's just not possible to do this one right. Can you avoid the shots somehow? I didn't seem to be able to micro away or out of range of them. All I could do was pick targets, and it didn't seem to matter which I picked, (except perhaps medivacs, not sure there).
