Interesting. It was my impression that GE had changed significantly since the beta, and initial release versions. Thanks for the info! I didn't want to start getting into a tutorial too heavily, and find out later that something had changed and make the work invalid.
edit: oh jesus, I just realized I forgot to ask my damn question...
My question was just if there were similar tutorials available that dealt with these kinds of mechanics...

Hey all. I recently started work on a custom arcade game for Starcraft 2, and have hit a bit of a stumbling block. I want to create a hero who, upon leveling up, is given access to skill points (add a point to a skill to increase it's efficacy), and stat points (add a point to increase strength, dexterity, etc) similar to Diablo, and Diablo 2.
However, it's several years out of date, and appears to cheat the system a bit, in that it doesn't modify a hero's "stats" so much as simply add buffs to that unit instead.
this IS my first serious hero, so I may be inferring incorrectly. But any help with this would be much appreciated! I would even be willing to pay in both respect, AND admiration! (What a deal!)
Hey, I know it's only been like, 4 years and all, but any chance this tutorial is still available somewhere? The link is no longer valid, and it might answer a few questions I have right at this moment.
open up your data editor; go to "abilities" and in the search box thingy, type in " - Build (" and it will narrow the list down to the probe build ability, and the SCV build ability.On the SCV build ability; go into the "(Basic) Stats: flags" field, and there is a bix checklist.At the bottom is "worker maintained" which is checked.Uncheck it.
With the zerg, it is the same concept, search "Drone - Morph" in the abilities list.In the flags field, uncheck "worker hide""worker kill" and "worker maintained"
Oh lord... Why... why did it have to be so easy!
And here I thought I was going to have to start duplicating protoss buildings but with terran, or zerg models, and actors in order to get it to work!
Greetings, fellow mapsters. I feel like this is probably the wrong place to post this, but I can't quite figure out where I should ACTUALLY be putting this question, so feel free to move it, if I have botched things up here. Anyways;
I have very recently begun work on a custom game for sc2, and have so far found the forums, and wiki really helpful. I've pretty much just been lurking, whilst a friend of mine has been a somewhat infrequent poster.
Anyways, on to my question:
After going through the tutorials listed on the wiki I couldn't seem to find one that might pertain to what it is I currently need to do at this point. I am trying to assign a probe-style building ability (wherein, the unit places a building down, and is free to move, and use other commands while the building raises itself) but using terran, and zerg buildings as well.
I am wondering if there is a tutorial on how to do this already, that might be part of another tutorial, or if I simply missed the obvious and it's sitting right under my nose.
I would be forever grateful to whomsoever could point me in the right direction on this one.
Anyway, thanks in advance guys, and hope to be a bit more active here.

I've found a tutorial that shows almost this exact thing that I want; listed here: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/tutorials/23108-data-select-attributes-when-hero-levels/#p6
