posted a message on Repository/Uploading Map

    Hey folks,

I'm doing an eight episode single player campaign called Starcraft: Abandonment. I'm getting close to finishing my first Episode and was thinking...if I lose this it would be pretty sad and devastating. I started trying to set up the repository, but got kind of confused and then saw you have to create a project, but all I saw was create a map, create an asset and create a team. Do I just create a map and that gets my map saved on the repository. I saw also that a mod has to approve it. Anyways, please help.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the help. I figured out what the deal was with the validators and got my scvs to shut down when their energy goes to zero.

    Still need help:

    1) What trigger or behavior/validator should I use once my SCVs need to go and get recharged 2) Cnce they are recharged up what should I use to send them back to work.

I was trying to just just use a periodic event that is timed to their energy loss, but it only fires one and I don't think this is the right way to do it. I can't figure it out and any help/direction is much appreciated.

    Outsider,

That was a really interesting and awesome reply. I kinda feel like everyone(Mapster Community) should read that who has the slightest inkling in doing something with gaming or programming.

    Pokenoufl,

I believe the editor is in C plus plus, which should be you 1st language if you are interested in going into game design/development. I'm not sure what other languages you need to know, but it seems like browser gaming is getting a lot more popular these days. Ruby?

I think the Editor can provide some useful experience for the job world. It is incredibly complicated and from my understanding does not cross over to other gaming platforms, but the product can be quite beautiful and something to show off in a portfolio. Echoing Outsider, a prospective employer would also be stoked on you doing collaborative work on a project as well as working through a critique process.

    Hey folks,

I got the compare vitals validator to go onto my scv's buff, but I can't figure out where to go to make it shut down when its energy reaches zero. The buff shows up on the unit, but doesn't do anything to it when it reaches zero. I know I am close.

Also, I have pylons set up that give energy, but sometimes it will say "cant turn toward target" and refuse to give energy. Any ideas?

Wait. Am I allowed? I got in trouble last time.

Also, I noticed that the Creating a new ability by RileyStarcraft is a video link. It doesn't have the proper [video] heading.

I think I figured out my lose of data issue.

Thats a bummer on the Current Events!

Is it possible to point one in the direction of a tutorial on this? I am stuck.

I have SCVs that have energy that lose it over time. As well as a pylon that can recharge them if they go near it.

I just can't figure out how to switch the behaviors so the scvs shutdown when it runs out of energy. I've looked into validators, but sorta feel like tumbling down the rabbit hole. Any points/advice in the right direction is much appreciated.

    Attempting this exercise.

I modified a pylon to meet some of the requirements. The modified pylon appears on my map, but no longer appears in my data editor. You guys no where it went? I changed its name, but now I just get the old one. :(

Dr. I noticed that the WDE has a slot in the Current Events. Is it possible to swap that out with this one using Mozared's trick? It took me a few minutes to find this thread in the Forums.

Can we just edit the other events with your trick?

I could find some stuff to change it to for you.

So...the website discussion seems dead and fruitless, but...

How do you add a current event?

    Can I add one?

What's the policy on current events?

Anyone have ideas for current events like ones outside of the modding community, e.g. Blizzcon? Game release dates? New expansion for Diablo, Beta for heroes of the storm???

Just trying to spice up the site. I hate looking at 2011 events.
