posted a message on [Campaign] Newbie Adventure, Newbies Needed

    @OutsiderXE: Go

    Thanks for the advice.

Is there a page on Mapster that has all the official remakes of the campaigns? I stumbled upon this site and well just wish I had known about it 2 years ago when I first got WoL. I ate up the Mass Recall because of Husky and have only been recently learning about other Remakes and Fan-made campaigns like Graidus' Subjection.

Permission would for sure be attained before any remake would be made. I just thought it would be an interesting way to get newbies, like myself, involved in learning the editor. It did occur to me that working over the Internet to remake a mod would be quite difficult, but working alone on this stuff can be pretty alienating and having a deadline is key to pushing things through.

posted a message on [Campaign] Newbie Adventure, Newbies Needed

I'm new to this whole modding community. I never played WC3, but played some SC1. I had no idea the amount of fan-made material that was created for WC3 and SC1. I recently stumbled upon Campaign Creations and noticed they have a lot of old SC mods/campaigns. I really want to create my own campaign somewhat loosely attached to the lore, but the jumping off point is pretty scary and I just need practice. I got to thinking that newbie modders could take an old mod/campaign and recreate it into SC2 engine in the vein of the awesome SC1: Mass Recall. I would think a small episode campaign would be ideal...maybe 4 or 5 missions...more of this will be fleshed out if there is interest.

Any ideas on what could be recreated in the SC2 engine?

    Perhaps this is already happening??

Anybody new to the community who wants to get down and dirty into the editor or old folks who want to help us along?

Did I post in the correct place?

posted a message on Dead Links in [Video, Galaxy] Beginners guide to galaxy editor

I've been trying to go through some of the beginners guides to the editor in my quest to create my own campaign. I noticed that "[Video, Galaxy] Beginners guide to galaxy editor" by mikelat is no longer working. It appears from the posts that the author has taken down the material. Is this useful for the wiki, that is identifying dead or incorrect material/inks? I don't want to overwhelm people, but I would love to contribute in some small way to the wiki...it's pretty amazing.

    Funny....The link works now.

I noticed that this dude made a lot of videos in 2010, but has since vanished.

Also, Dr. SuperEvil are you are Dr. SuperGood from UA3. I love that game.

posted a message on Bug/Issue In Tutorial from Wiki

    Hey Folks,

I was working through this - Beginners Guide to Triggers Variables, Arrays, Constants, "If" statements and Functions by NeoDeath. It was pretty straight forward, but when I fired it up I got the same problems others seem to be having in the comments section. I also noticed that it was two years ago that someone last commented on this tutorial. Below is the link to the Tutorial and the error on the Map.

    http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/tutorials/2051-beginners-guide-to-triggers-variables-arrays-constants/

I get this: Scri: Trigger Error in gt_MeleeInitiazation_Func.: Event response function "EventUnit has not matching event? Near line 53 in gf_PlayerGetsUnit[] in Mapscript Galaxy.

    Any ideas?

posted a message on Newbie Questions: Where to go, Sound Files, Slow to Save

    Hey folks,

I worked through Blizzard Editor tutorials and now I've been doodling through the editor, which is awesome and have been hitting bumps in the road. I've run over a few, but now I'm kinda roadblocked. I don't have any background in computers except for SC2 (so none). I've read through some of the wiki and watched some videos but having no background everything is just sorta overwhelming. If you can provide simple instructions or points in the right direction I would very much appreciate it.

    Questions:

    1) How do you extract the dialogue from the campaign to include in your own mod?

    2) How do you import music files into your mod?

    3) Does the editor slow down for you guys when you save? I've just started experiencing this recently. Perhaps a hardware issue, but thought I would ask.

    4) Any "Getting Started" Guides in the vein of the ones Blizz provides on their SC2 website? Step by Step with pictures. Videos are great but its a lot to digest.

Okay. Thanks so much. I came upon this community when I found out about the Remake of SC1 through HuskyStarcraft. I've played through those campaigns and got stocked to make a contribution in the campaign realm.

posted a message on SCBW: Iron Fist English is in German

    Hey folks,

Any ideas on why the English map pack is in German??? I looked through the editor and the transmissions are all in German sound files. I started playing through it, but I just can't handle it being in German. Any help is appreciated. My theory is that the German version got linked in for the English version. Anyone got the English version handy??

posted a message on SCBW: Iron Fist Bugs??

    Hey folks,

Just played through The Stand...it was spectacular!! I downloaded Iron Fist (English) and unfortunately it is in German. I thought maybe my menu options were funny, but no luck there. I looked into the editor and found all the sound files are in german. Is there another version available or maybe something got switched around?? I would love to play the version in English.

posted a message on SC1: The Fall Bugs

Lol...you guys are on top of this game. I noticed:

a lot of the zerglings after the 2nd or 3rd mission are just funny little half ovals with red x's.

the mission where you find Zertatual on the platform...when you get to the end game checkpoint, it takes a while for it to activate.

The healing boxes in the mission where you rescue Zertaul in the base on Char don't do anything

Attacking the Cerebrates in the 2nd to last mission crashes the game.

The Terrans aren't able to mine anything in the last mission, but at some point you start getting freebies for like 5 minutes for both Protoss and the Terrans.

Gas is still able to mine after the geyser is depleted. Also, the game says it is depleted but the color of the geyser does not change. You might have reduced rate of gas mining but I usually only noticed after I was winning the game or moving onto another base.

F2 will select only one of the hero units. It should be all of them or none. I'm more for none as when they die the game is over.

I'm not sure if the panoramas at the start of the missions are supposed to include units, but they don't.

The last briefing of the final mission is on fast forward to extreme.

This campaign is awesome and I appreciate all the amazing work you guys did to put this together. It made me start to tinker with the editor and I hope to one day get some skills in it. Thanks!!!

    Hey all,

I just played through the Protoss Campaign: The Fall. It was a mod by christdaughtery. It was awesome. I noticed a bunch of bugs in it...some not a very big deal some others were pretty annoying. How does one go about contacting the map owner?? Or should I just post the bugs??
