I had a post in this thread; but for some reason, it was removed. I'm trying to record a YouTube video with sound. I was told that CamStudio records both video and audio, but I can't record audio no matter what I do and no matter what tutorials I use. I have a Windows 7 with a Rec. Playback IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. All tutorials seem to focus on RealTek, which I don't have, nor do I have Stereo Mix. No matter what method I follow from any tutorial, nothing works. Is there anyone who is willing to help? I even sent a PM as requested. No response.

I know how to make a TPS. And which tutorial? There are like hundreds of sections to look up. Which one is relevant to what I'm talking about?

I'm looking for ways on how to creating a right-side third person camera for a third-person shooter, but I don't know how it's done. I have seen many maps with this neat trick. This YouTube video will hopefully show an example as to what I'm talking about. Also, look up Project Vector. What must I do to get this kind of TPS camera? What are the triggers and functions?

I would like to record a YouTube video of my current project, but I'm having problems with CamStudio. The audio will not be recorded. I followed many tutorials, but none of them work for me. I have a Windows 7, with a Rec. Playback IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. And no, I do not have Stereo Mix. Rec. Playback can be used for creating sound, but it's still not working for me.

Anyway, if you want an early announcement for a project, you can look at my thread. http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/project-workplace/61053-sons-of-korhal-a-new-epic-first-person-shooter/

posted a message on Sons of Korhal: A New Epic First Person Shooter

    http://imageshack.us/a/img855/181/v53s.png

Greetings to the StarCraft II Modding Community. For those of you who have never heard of me, I am fairly new to your site. What you see before you is an early announcement of my project. It is called Sons of Korhal; and yes, it is named after Mengsk's former army of resistance against the Terran Confederacy.

    The Story

    http://imageshack.us/a/img30/9003/0h72.jpg

It is the year 2500 A.D. The Confederates become weakened as their capital colony of Tarsonis falls to the Zerg and is soon bombarded by the Sons of Korhal leader Arcturus Mengsk. You play as a Sons of Korhal Marine called the Rookie, as you begin your very first mission. You are a member of a battalion of Marines led by Lt. Sarah Kerrigan. After the Protoss forces who intercepted the Zerg on Tarsonis are removed from the equation, rain of fire scorches the entire planet; and Lt. Kerrigan disappears in the aftermath. You survive the bombardment but are unaware that it was Mengsk who issued the order of deserting you and your men. As you think that you are the only survivor, you find others in your team who survived; but you are not alone. A few Zerg survive as well, plus a group of Confederates who blame you for their defeat. You are able to send a long-range transmission to Korhal. Unfortunately, the talk of survivors causes Mengsk to issue the order of sending General Duke's forces from Alpha Squadron to kill you and your team and anyone else who is alive, as a means of covering up his actions. Your team and the surviving Confederates now share a common enemy and have no choice but to work together.

    Gameplay

The FPS engine is inspired by the engine that created TheUglyHobo's Zerg Rush map. It has a similar design, but the HUD display will be different. Not only will you have a health meter, but also a meter for your armor (which is done by giving the player avatar or unit some shields but with no regeneration rate). Health will be regenerative but very slowly as there will be health packs, which will be used via hotkey. Items that repair you armor will also be found, and there will be journals or logs found among the dead inhabitants or Marines in the ruins of Tarsonis. I am still working on an ammunition limit for each weapon you find, which may require sets of integers and booleans. Your character will not be able to jump, and if there's room for a sprint ability, I will include it.

The Rookie, your character, will not speak nor have an actual name. There is also no gender. All of this will be chosen by the player. When you start a new game, you will select a gender, either male or female. As for names, your Battle.Net profile name will appear in your HUD display. This will be for the player to imagine himself/herself as the character.

    Trial and Error

I don't know how I will create a save-game option, as the SC2 HUD display goes back to default and the cursor starts showing every time I load the game. Either saves or checkpoints, I don't know how it will work. The game will have its own main menu, which will be done in a separate map. I am also uncertain about the existence of a multiplayer, as there are design issues that might interfere. And for now, there will be no voice roles; but there will be subtitles. If the project ever comes near completion and becomes uploaded, I could organize a team to help out. But for now, I am doing this on my own to prove my worth, and I wouldn't bet on anyone to assist since the project has not yet been seen by anyone. I do not have a release date, obviously since I have just begun the process of designing.

    Conclusion

This announcement is meant to be for those who are interested in hearing. Every time there is progress with the game, this page will be updated. I am considering this thread as the official page for Sons of Korhal. Thank you all for reading. Feel free to post comments at any time.

    UPDATE NEWS

    January 7, 2014

This music theme has been selected as the main theme for the game and will also be heard as the theme for the main menu.

This other theme is selected for combat sequences in the game.

Both themes are referred to as post-apocalyptic music.

    http://imageshack.us/a/img546/8888/gvq1.jpg

Unit sizing is being adjusted to a more three-dimensional style. There will be boss fights, and the biggest of them all will be the Ultralisk, emphasis the picture above. You have all seen the intro video for Heart of the Swarm and know how big the Ultralisks really are.

    January 12, 2014

In order for the sky to look more post-apocalyptic than generic, the Xil Skybox has been implemented. This is reminiscent to the atmospheric lighting in the Wings of Liberty video "Betrayal". Speaking of lighting, such things will be made to go with the skybox, in both daylight and dusk.

For those who do not understand how to make the sky visible in a map, the far clip in the camera is greatly extended.

Yeah, Echo's unit model is definitely found in the editor. The wikia site will even say the same. The only issue is that her portrait model has no texture.

Of course. These things usually take time. We can just go for the basics and start from there. What will be made can be considered as alpha testing, and then we can discuss remaking it totally. I have observed your work admirably, and I hope I can provide more ideas for you and your team. As for being offered to join your team, I accept.

posted a message on A Total Remake for StarCraft

As I’m sure that you are all aware, someone remade StarCraft 1 using the SC2 Galaxy Editor. I believe it was called Mass Recall. However, this is not the only attempt of someone remaking the first game and its expansion Brood War. Well, in this particular expansion, there are no actual cutscenes like there are in the original game. The cutscenes in the remake are nothing but unit/doodad models and images. As for unit models, some of them lack realism and are most of the time motionless or lacking animations. In terms of hero units, they do not resemble the characters. For example, Raynor (Vulture) does not look like Raynor piloting a Vulture; and the unit model of Kerrigan looks more like Nova, which is contradictory because her hair is supposed to be red. And many of the custom unit models lack unit death models. Now, I don’t mean disrespect. After all, it must have taken them a lot of work to create those maps, including the dependency file that comes with the remake. I’ll only say that, if you want to remake something, you shouldn’t rush it.

I want to be part of a team who can remake the first StarCraft, starting with the Terran campaign. When I say remake, I’m talking TOTAL remake, design it from scratch. Here is a better explanation:

Yes, the remake will be made through the use of the Galaxy Editor. In terms of cutscenes and old-school units (which would include the unit portraits) from StarCraft 1, however, that could be done through 3D modeling programs like 3ds Max. Afterwards, the 3D models, both for the unit models and cutscenes, can be imported into a custom-made dependency file, kind of like what was done for Mass Recall. The music could also be remastered, yet the notes and rhythms for the old themes would still remain. As for voices, we could look for anyone who would volunteer to be voice actors for the units, and also for the original story characters but they would have to be good at sounding just like them.

To get a clear picture on what I’m trying to propose, look up a game called Half-Life, made by a studio called Valve. Fans of that game have totally remade it into a game called Black Mesa; some of them even became voice actors sounding just like the voices from the original game. Environments were remade into a more realistic perspective. Do some research on Half-Life and Black Mesa and tell me what you find. They have a website, so look for that. To achieve such a remake for StarCraft 1, this would require a team, as I am proposing. These would be the required fields.

    -Music

    -Sound FX

    -Sound Editing

    -Voice Acting

    -Voice Editing

    -Modeling and Texturing

    -Choreography and Animations

    -Map Designing

    -Trigger Editing

    -Dependency Programming

    -Cinematic Editing

    -Unit Editing

    -Doodad Editing

-AI Editing (which would include a difficulty engine)

    -Lip Sync Editing

    -Mission Briefing Editing

    -Game Credits

If there are other possible fields, let me know.

Already I can see that there are some of you who have doubts about a total remake. Will Blizzard accept it, or will they turn it down? Here is my answer: There is no way of knowing. Whatever answers you may come up with can be nothing but assumptions. We shouldn’t keep assuming worst case scenarios. Who knows, maybe Blizzard is looking for fans to remake the original game. Never mind what random websites might say. Again, there is no way of knowing. In fact, if they do turn it down, we could make the game into a download in a fanmade website, like what was done with Black Mesa.

I can also see that there are those who will not or do not have the patience for a total remake, especially for all of the fields that I am proposing. I understand that some of you fans may have jobs, or even college work for that matter. I’m telling you that this is why teamwork is always useful, so that work on the project can be shared and continued by some individual teammates in case one of them is currently unavailable due to everyday work hours and responsibilities. Some of you may even have families to be with rather than staring at a computer screen all day. All of these things are understandable, and I will make no judgments whatsoever.

I know that there are some of you fans who have been struggling to create the perfect remake for StarCraft 1. I can’t be the only one who does. Just think about what could happen afterwards. IF Blizzard were to accept this, think of what possibilities might arise. They might give us jobs or job invitations; they might allow some of us to work for their studio. Anything we do can have meaning; and I know that there are those who want to remake StarCraft 1, especially after finding a custom unit model of Raynor piloting a Vulture (Hive Workshop) and a retexture to make the Nova unit look like Lt. Kerrigan (here in SC2Mapster). As I said, I can’t be the only one who wants to achieve this kind of goal. Some of you will say that this is impossible to achieve, but I’m afraid that you’re all wrong. Anything in life is possible. It takes only a pessimist to deny that little fact.

I am not looking to be your team leader. After enough team members are gathered, we can discuss a vote. I could be of some use. I know how to design maps, switch map textures in the Data Editor, and create triggers. I could also volunteer for the voice acting since I can imitate Zeratul’s voice like a pro, for I am a big fan of the character. I may have a Logitech microphone that is not meant for voice acting, but that’s where voice editing would come in. Not to mention my voice can sound out of pitch through a microphone, but I’m sure there are a few others with the same situation.

Other than saying no automatically, think about all of this. Give it some thought. You’d never know what we might accomplish together. For those who made Mass Recall, you are always welcome into the team. Do not mistaken my criticisms as discredit.

My username is StarGazingContinuum, but you can just call me StarGaze for short.

Hello. I'm sort of new to the community, though I have collected a few models and mods long before I got my profile. I'm looking for a unit model of the "Plasma Battlecruiser"; but unfortunately, I can't find it. I have the fix file for the textures on its guns, but I can't find the actual model. Does anyone know where in this site I can find it?
