posted a message on Heroes of the Storm - Extracting Files

Since I can't find the right models that I'm looking for, I like to know how to extract M3 models from Heroes of the Storm. Where are the models? CASC View will not work because it keeps disappearing on me every time it leaves its WinRAR folder, and Heroes of the Storm has no MPQ files. I have the software that converts the Heroes of the Storm model files into SC2 model files, but I don't have the means of extracting the files.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Will I also find audio files in these unknown locations as well?

posted a message on Projects Disappearing

What I am sick and tired of is projects disappearing. It makes it even harder and impossible to find them. Someone gave me a link to a Heroes of the Storm hero model for the Galaxy Editor, but I don't think he knew that the page he gave me no longer exists. You know when the screen shows a picture of a kitten saying "I'm sowwy"? Or the different screen with the white background and big red text that says "Found Error 404"?

This is unacceptable. Even some of the mods I found and downloaded no longer exist. If there are still pictures I can find of projects that no longer exist, I will upload them to this thread. Maybe there are some modders who are not checking their work regularly to see if they're still there.

posted a message on Hero Model Impossible to Get for Galaxy Editor?

If this is some kind of prank, I'm not laughing. The page no longer exists.

This sort of thing can be fixed, right?

posted a message on Hero Model Impossible to Get for Galaxy Editor?

I am no expert on extracting models for Heroes of the Storm. The one model I do like but can't get for the SC2 Galaxy Editor is the Commander Raynor model. You know, the Raynor that's not wearing any armor but his plain clothes, and carrying some kind of rifle with a scope. For those of you who play Heroes of the Storm, do you know what I'm talking about?

Has anyone tried to extract hero models from Heroes of the Storm? Is there a link?

posted a message on Warcraft III PTR Assets Not Found!

I have good news for those of you who haven't heard. StarCraft II has been given a "Patch 2.1.9". In this patch, the Warcraft III assets have been released. They are the same assets from the PTR. Congratulations. We may yet continue to use them.

    Quote from TyaArcade: Go

Yep. Just replace the cursor image with a black box and it'll be hidden in-game. Works for any texture, for that matter. It's a pretty brute force solution though.

Great. Well, just how do I do that?

posted a message on Warcraft III PTR Assets Not Found!

My concern for Warcraft III models for SC2 is due to a project that I had going in the Warcaft III World Editor. I wanted to create a crossover between Warcraft and StarCraft, but nothing like Heroes of the Storm. There were StarCraft models made as mods for the World Editor, but they were either a lousy design or the textures wouldn't work. I also wanted it to be an FPS, but it was impossible to achieve in the World Editor. I know, not exactly the best of ideas for mods, but there you have it.

Well, it looks like the PTR is still accessible in terms of using the map editor. I'm on there right now. All I can say is that maybe the Warcraft III models would have to be exported and transferred to a mod for the regular servers in case the PTR decides to shut down completely, and so that the maps and resources can be properly tested. However, it's quite a lot of them, but I'm not seeking for all of them.

posted a message on StarCraft II: The Fist of Blake

I've spent my time giving empty talk to the community about mods I'm making, but the reason they go unfinished is because of technical issues. Forget the time constraint; I can care less about that. Though, I'm sure this project I have in mind would see promise.

I love playing Dawn of War II. The first Dawn of War was building and commanding an army, but the second was about commanding just a few squads against hundreds of foes like something out of 300. Imagine if that kind of change were to be applied to StarCraft, though a few fans might disagree. I always thought of the Tyranids as the Warhammer 40,000 version of the Zerg, but with a few differences.

The project is called StarCraft II: The Fist of Blake, and it's a non-canon crossover featuring a different Terran faction, one that I made up. They are called the Word of Blake. Understandable that this name is existent in Mechassault, but trust me when I say that there is no relation. I've heard the name mentioned in other places besides that game, though I don't know the purpose behind them. StarCraft II: The Fist of Blake is a sequel to my almost-complete StarCraft: Brood War mod StarCraft: Project Eternity, except that mod was not about squads. To meet with one of my delayed projects, StarCraft: Raven was meant to be a secret backstory for one of my characters, approximately twenty years before the events of this ongoing mod.

You command a squad of four, though you can upgrade it up to six. Each member is a hero unit with the following classifications: Marine, Medic (with a pistol), Ghost, Firebat, Reaper, and Marauder. They can be upgraded, including giving the Marine a Goliath with self repair. They can level up, thus not only granting them upgrades but abilities. The Ghost's cloak, however, is always going to be there. Missions can be selected in any order on one planet and another like in Dawn of War II. As for choosing war gear, I don't know if that will be possible; but the gear itself can serve as upgrades for each character. Regrettably, a co-op campaign may not be possible; but after there is progress, I'll see if I can arrange something for the StarCraft II Arcade, like perhaps a Last Stand inspired multiplayer.

Like StarCraft II itself, the mod will be divided into three big campaigns, one for each race. I am currently undergoing experiments in making this possible; and with Legacy of the Void being made, I might add a few additional units and features, partly because I want to re-introduce some of the SC1 units into this project.

Please, tell me what you think.

posted a message on Alternative to TPS/FPS Save/Load Cursor Bug?

I'm sure there are those of you who are familiar with this thread that I made: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/gui/71086-cursor-problem-in-save-load-of-tps/

Well, I've been thinking. Is there a way to completely change the appearance of the cursor. Let's say I wanted to turn it into an image of crosshairs for a shooter map, or perhaps an invisible image so that, after a load saved game, it doesn't appear in cutscenes or cinematics. I'm not sure about triggers supporting this, but I understand that some triggers can run by a script? This alternative approach to the "load saved game mouse cursor bug" incident, is it remotely possible?

Please, even if you don't know the answer, make a comment anyway. Or find someone else who might know.

Well, I have the mod file from my previous thread, but I need the one called "Wc3.SC2Mod". Where is it? There are no other dependencies besides the Art Mod file.

Well, the dependency mod I found is under a different name. It's called "Warcraft III (Art Mod)".
