I've played this quite a lot, with average and with decent players and it's still fun. I've had no problems with balance.
Someone (I think it was Fragglerock, but I don't have proof other than he did that and went spectres) was using something to trigger and auto-win (again, not sure if it autowins, but I and another person voted against both times, to no avail) the fog of war vote. No other cheats seemed to be used.
