posted a message on [Unit Selection] Units not selected when clicked from a highly angled view

Currently players need to click on a unit's base in order to select it, which is fine when playing from a top down view, however if playing from an angled view, players can often click on a unit and not select it since its base was below the portion of the unit that was clicked.

Any ideas about how to solve this?

If I could make a unit have a 3 dimensional selection circle I think that would work, but I don't know if that is possible.

posted a message on Click Attack

Just released a rough version of my first game, Click Attack, it is a quick 1v1 twitch based game where players have to click on units before they get away. Players each have 8 abilities that all use the same resource, the resource is acquired by clicking on units.

The game has moving cameras during gameplay and multiple music options. Since the game is 1v1 you don't have to wait too long in order to play. Currently the game is only on the Americas Region (I think), but if you would like me to upload it elsewhere, just let me know.

Please share any feedback, if a particular section is too difficult just remember the units or their color. People seem to die very quickly the first time or two they play the game and then do better after that. Remember to use your defensive abilities if you are in trouble.

I would really appreciate any feedback you can give.

posted a message on [Mouse Cursor] Mousing over units makes cursor jump.

I am making a game where the player needs to click on a variety of units at high speed. Mouse cursor position and control is important. I have noticed that when you mouse over a unit in Starcraft 2, the mouse cursor position will jump slightly, usually to the edge of that unit's selection circle.

Does anyone know why this happens or how I can make it stop?

posted a message on [Solved] [Test Document] Possible to test a map as a player other than player 1?

I would like to know if I can use "test document" within the galaxy editor to preview my map from the perspective of player 2 instead of player 1. Does anyone know if I can do this?

    Thanks!

    Side question:

Anyone know the min spec for the editor? I am going to be travelling for a while and won't have access to my rig.

posted a message on Quick questions for experienced mappers

Hello. I am brand spanking new to the galaxy editor, although I have moderate experience with other editors like UDK and Hammer.

I have an idea for an arcade map and would like to consult some more seasoned mappers for their opinion before I dive in too deep.

Will I be able to perform the following without using scripting in the Galaxy Editor? If so, how difficult would you rate it from 1-10

(1 being a few simple clicks, 10 being a month or more of work just on this feature)

    Things I need to do:

    - Spawn pathing units that change color (or unit type), and pathing direction when clicked (or when damaged).

    - Spawn units that can only be clicked (or damaged) by a certain player when the units are a specific color (or unit type).

    Things I want to do:

    - Display text in-game

    - Alter unit attack rate

    - Alter unit attack range

    - Alter unit movement speed

    - Alter unit splash damage

    - Move the player's camera

    - Create pings on the minimap

    - Spawn units at the location of a unit that died

Thanks for any insight you can provide!
